View 8 RepliesFollowing previous LR upgrades (3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6), old files were automatically removed from the Program Files folder. However, I just upgrades from 3.6 to 4.0 and notice that the old files are still on my hard drive in the 3.6 folder. Do I need to keep these files or can I UNINSTALL LR 3.6?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've done it many times...I hit Enter before changing my selection, and have removed instead of deleting a few files. Is there any way to get them all back in my catalogue so I can properly delete them? Or any way of isolating them in the Finder/Lightroom?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis issue occured shortly after update to 4.2, but not directly after. I am using windows 8.
The issue that occurs is after importing images they are adjusted automatically to develop module cross process 1. After dealing with this annoyance for a bit of time I realized that I can not even "RESET ALL" the images to delete the adjustment. In delving into other images that have been in my database for quite some time, I have tried to "RESET ALL", which resets images to CROSS PROCESS 1. I have never set import to automatically adjust.
I just downloaded the trial of Lightroom 4 to see if it's a better fit for me than Picasa.
I have all my images ordered by Date on an external NAS device.
So...
z:/photos/1999
.../2000
.../2001
......../2001/2001_01_01 New Years Day (for example).
I only started shooting in RAW this year. When I shoot in RAW, I have a subfolder called RAW. I then process the raws to JPG using Photoshop batch processor and place them in teh root of the folder.
So I will have a structure like :
2010_05_04
img_1.jpg
img_2.jpg
and then in 2010_05_04/RAW
img_1.cr2
img_2.cr2 .. etc.
I installed lightroom and went to import the pictures. I have (according to Picasa) 24,295 photos image files. these are all either JPG, RAW (cr2), or .AVI or .MOV. THe vast majority are images.
LIghtroom is hanging on 11,622.
I'm not sure why. It isn't even picking up certain date folders at all (like 2012, 2006, or 2007).
I tried cancelling the import process (hitting the X) and then starting again but it still continues to hang.
I have Lightroom 3 version 3.6 installed on my MacBook. I then upgraded to OS X 10.8.2. Since the upgrade when I try to import raw images from my Nikon D3100 camera I get images to preview and select but when I select and try to import I receive a message saying that there are no images to import and then the import process shuts down. I have also downloaded the most current version of Java RunTime. How can I fix the import process and resume using Lightroom?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince installing Lightroom 5, the program hangs during the import process. I never had this issue with Lightroom 4, but recently had a system crash and lost my former catalog. There are about 140,000 images to be imported from a 3TB hard drive.
I'm running a PC with 24 GB of RAM, a 128 GB SSD boot drive and a dedicated 128 GB SSD dirve for Photoshop/Bridge/Lightroom cache.
It seems as if there is no rhyme of reason as to how the import process presents the previews to select for import. I did s shoot last night and the images are spread out over different areas between other photos that I took in the past. Shouldn't they just be sorted by image name so they are presented together?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow the PMS color palettes "simulate" on screen how the color will print on different substrates (glossy vs matte vs uncoated paper). That's great for comps, but if you convert it to CMYK to print it, and the values are representing a "simulated" color it won't look correct (by that I mean come close to matching the spot color). For example, the uncoated palette simulates the color by making them appear a bit washed out on screen - pretty good visual simulation. But it might do so by adding black and cyan to orange for example, etc. - effectively dulling the original color.
So if I convert that to CMYK within the new Pantone + color palette, and then send it to the printer - it won't appear as it did on screen, it will dull the end color even more because it's converted the color to the dull simulated version - what a disaster! It's only doing half the job - showing us what it should look like on screen. In order to be truly efficient for design professionals the CMYK conversion might remove black and cyan completely to effectively brighten the color in the final output on uncoated paper. I would prefer it just stick to the standard conversion, which Pantone did have as a standard palette option (PMS to process), and then I can adjust if I think it's necessary.
Any corporate branding system will likely start with a PMS spot color palette for the identity. Then it will build into many different adaptations - full color brochures, large format banners and trade show graphics, website, advertising. So any corporate branding system will need to have PMS, CMYK and RGB versions of their main corporate color palette. There was a standard for these translations that was automatically consistent in the Adobe software and that is now all over the place, so it relies on individuals manually adapting the color mixes for final use - what a great way to screw things up.
My Lightroom 4 catalogue is now automatically updating my DNGs from Process 2010 to 2012 when I open the folder in Library. The Update Dialog box does not open. I do not want this to happen automatically, but cannot find a preference or setting to control this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Sigma 50mm 1.4 lens and had to notice, that although LR is able to choose the right lens correction profile, it shortens the displayed lens name to "50mm". So if I export to jpg, the exifs only show "50mm" instead of "Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM" as it is displayed by other programs (eg. Mac OS Preview) when viewing the original cr2 file. This has to be a bug, since the Canon 50mm 1.4 and the 50mm 1.8 II remain their full name.I'm glad LR at least chooses the right correction profile, I kinda dislike to use "50mm" as lens filter option, because that doesn't really say anything about which exact lens was used (well, in my case it does, as the other 50mms are displayed correctly.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently using a Nikon D7100 and recording my photos in the Raw/NEF-RAW format. Recently, whenever I am uploading my photos to Lightroom 5, my photos are changing to .dng files rather than staying in the NEF file. When I go and look back at my previous imports from the past few times, they are in NEF and NOT in .dng. Why is this doing this and how do I turn this feature off so that my files remain the same going from my camera to my computer through importation.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe installation of Lightroom 4.3 stops with an error message, reading "The older version of Adobe Lightroom 4.3 cannot be removed. I didn't allow in my timing to save each one individually since i didn't know I was going to need to do this. I am really unfamiliar with batch processing, so how to best go about this, or if I even can. I am working in Photoshop CS6. version 13.06 x 64.
Photoshop CS6 Extened won't play or process Dolby Digital (AC-3) Audio Files from my AVCHD video files. The video plays fine just no sound at all. When processed still no sound. View 1 Replies View RelatedI accidentally removed a folder with images from my lightroom catalog. The lightroom .lrcat file seems to be intact (112.400kb) and the images are still on my hard drive.
Is there anyway that i can reimport the folder and that lightroom applies the changes that i earlier made on them? I assume all that information is stored in the catalog file? But when i try to reimport them, no changes are being made.
My wife and I have been using LR for a long time. We're currently on version 4. Unfortunately, she's not as tech-savvy or meticulous as I am, and she has been unknowingly "Removing" photos from the LR catalog when she really meant to delete them from the hard disk. That means we have hundreds of unwanted raw photo files floating around in our computer and no way to pick them out from the ones we want! As a very organized and space-conscious person, I can't stand the thought. So my question is, what is the most efficient way to permanently delete these unwanted photos from the hard disk
I did find to synchronize the parent folder with their respective catalogues, select all the photos in "Previous Import," and delete those, since they will be all of the photos that were previously removed from the catalogue.
This is a great suggestion, but it probably wouldn't work for all of my catalog since my file structure is organized by date (the default setting for LR). So, two catalogues will share the same "parent folder" in the sense that they both have photos from May 2013, but if I synchronize May 2013 with one, then it will get all the duds PLUS the photos that belong in the other catalog.
I use lightroom 4.1 on win 7 64bit. I i have a NEF file with all the details, iso, shutter speed, etc. I click on file and tell it to edit with photoshop cs6.
I edit my file, make adjustments, etc then I save for web and put i in subfolder where the NEF file was originally. Now I go back to lightroom and tell to sync the folder where i saved the file.
The problem is the JPEG file has all the exif data wiped out.
I routinely always edit my images in photoshop as i find it much more powerful than using lightroom but what bums me out is when saving it as a jpeg it stripped of all data, and I'm wondering is this caused my lightroom or photoshop.
So to inspect further i open file in windows explorer do file properties and theres no info on it. yet the NEF file has everything on it. So maybe photoshop is somehow removing all this.
I have deleted photos from Lightroom 4 by choosing the 'remove from disk' option. I never want to see them again so want them to go into the iMac Trash. However they are still in the folder where the original RAW files are on my desktop. does the delete process take a while to complete?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAsus motherboard, i7, 930. 24 gig Kingston HyperX ram. Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. 5 SATA hard drives: 3 are WD 7200s; Driive C is a Plextor SSD and Drive G (where LR and Photoshop are installed), is an Intel SSD.
I've had LR 3 and 4 and 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3. I have several hard drives. All the LR programs are installed on my G drive.
This time when I installed the update to 4.4, it did install on the G drive, but instead of creating a folder in Program Files, all the files, including the executables, simply installed in a long long row under Program Files and under the folders for the previous versions of LR. It did indeed install 4.4, but it's a mess and I can't figure out why there was no folder created.
When going into LR my copyright is gone and all the various styles of copyright I'd created in the Watermarks folder are unavailable. I also have 2 Nik Filters and 2 Topaz filters - they too are unavailable from the upgrade to 4.4. I also had a plugin for Zenfolio which is also missing and I can't find any plugin folder. Where is the plugin folder supposed to be?
It has never been clear to me which folders are supposed to reside on the same disk as the main LR program and which folders can be kept on another drive. Perhaps this is part of why I lost so much information.
I do have backups and I've been able to retrieve a lot - but I would like to be able to have the correct folders in the correct directories and drives. For example, when I updated to the new camera raw and dng, it was installed on my drive C, as it usually is. But the LR 4.4 files installed in a big list, although fortunately on the correct drive. And I have to reset all my settings, all my watermarks, my plugins and my filters.
Why did this happen and what can I do to repair it properly both for the best functioning of LR 4.4 and to not have this repeat itself with the next upgrade.
I know that I have on occasion gotten stupid and selected "Remove" after marking images as rejected, when I meant to select Delete From Disk. I believe this means I have image files on my hard drive that no longer appear in the Lightroom catalog, but I don't want them at all. I meant to move them to the trash bin, but, like I said, just hit the wrong button for some reason.
Is there any way I can search for images still in my folders on my hard drive (where I save them when imported in Lightroom) that no longer appear in my catalog? I'd like to clean up my hard drive before transfering images to a new computer.
Today I went to LR4 and tried to import RAW CR2 files into the program using the usual import process which is pretty automatic. I also asked that copies be saved as DNG files. No matter what I tried, I got an error message saying that the files could not be imported. I use a Canon 5D Mark III. The only difference in today's shoot was that I used and HDSC card instead of a CF card. No other obvious changes. Clearly, this is a serious concern. What amI missing?
