Is possible that everytime I start 3ds max,the perspective viewport will be in shaded mode instead of realistic?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI like the way the Realistic shading in viewport looks, BUT I don't like the performance hit.
It keeps turning itself on, and I keep changing it back to regular Shading.
How do I turn prevent max from using Realistic as the default shaded mode?
How do I get my part to be transparent in the "Realistic" view like it is with the"Shaded with edges"? This is what it looks like with the view style set to "Shaded with Edges". Notice how it is transparent and you can see thru the part.
Now when I switch to "Realistic", I get this. Anything that is behind this part is not visible.
I want to be able to see thru the part when in the reallistic visual style.
Was wondering if there are some ways in converting a highly realistic rendering of an object generated in a 3D program into a more illustrative, simplified, alittle less realistic version in Photoshop?
The object has plenty of silver reflections, HDRI environment map reflections, precise shadows and highlights, etc. I just want to make it look more generic and not as polished I guess.
Are there filters or plugins that will do this in a plug in play method or is it more prodedural and manual?
I want to use max 2012 shaded mode as a default.

With video games like Auto Modellista, and XIII (thirteen) the technique of cell shading is all the rage. Below are two tutorials I did not write, and one that I did write. I would like some feedback/ comments on the one that I did write. I posted up the two other ones because most of the people I talk to have either seen them, or know of those tutorials and have been using them as a guide. My way is not exactly cell shading just because I have been doing it so long that I have continually gotten more and more advanced until they look like airbrushed pictures. Either way, here are the tutorials.

View 2 Replies View Relatedinterface for the website I am going to make. It is going to be about RC cars/buggies/monster trucks etc etc.
And I thought the interface would be cool if it was one of the remotes and have the screen be the navagation menu and have the buttons be the links to change the screen to different catagories.
I plan to drop it into flash.
So here is my question. How hard will it be change this image into cell shaded?
I just requested some better picturs of the remote at different angels and bigger size at a forum about RC.
What is all involed in making an image cell shaded?
I am designing a site and I would like to know where I can either learn to make cell shaded graphics, or download them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can you set by default the ''shades with edges'' visual style by default ? I always work with that visual style, I have to set it every time I open a part or assembly.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow to create the arch part of the dials, at least I think it would be an arch. With the top photo, the "arch" has 2 colors so I would need to have 2 layers, one holding one color and one holding the other color, but how to make them and I had no success with the "arc" tool.
In the second photo, it's very difficult to tell, but the left side of the arch is green and the right is a pale yellow so again, I think I would need two archs. The second photo also these tick marks that are at the top of the arch and again, how to recreate them.
I just got a Canon G15 and I can't use the RAW files. I'd like to know if there's a roadmap for supporting the CR2 files for Canon G15 and if there's anything I can do besides wait for an update.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen you have an view in shaded mode, there is automatically some lighting from the rightside. This gives the model/view some shadow look ( white turns into light gray by example).
The lightning style in the assembly/part environment has no influence on the shaded view.
i want to know how to enable those options for shaded plot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have printed an Inventor drawing with the views shaded, I noticed that the views have a gradient shade on them, is this standard or is there a way to configure IV so that the views shade in one color and not as a gradient ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to print to my local windows printer (monochrome laser) and to a pdf file but cannot seem to get all of my lines black. Different colors, by layers, produce a greyscale arrangement of linework. I have tried changing the plotstyles to the various available plotstyles: Monochrome.stb, Monochrome.ctb and Autodesk-MONO.stb, but have not had any success. All are printing the same.
Ideally I would like to set most linework to black and be able to have shaded areas and some linework in a grey tone when needed.
Is there any way to force "shaded" mode in Nitrous to use scene lights and not default lights? We are doing tons of previs and when using "realistic mode" all of the grain and such with transparency, etc looks just awful. Shaded mode is SO much cleaner and faster, but under Nitrous it can no longer use scene lights to shade your objects. Under realistic mode you can turn shadows and AO off, but any transparency does the refinement process and never ends up looking totally clean.
Under shaded mode, transparency looks GREAT and is way faster. If there was only a way to enable scene lights instead of default lights it would be just like the old pre-nitrous days.
I was using 3ds Max 2013 without any service packs installed and my bitmap resolution on screen looked great. I have updated to service pack 5 and now the resolution looks low quality. I have to use large maps for my scenes example 12345 x 4610 px.
I have not changed the driver (Nitrous), under Display Performance I have Improve Quality Progressively and the Procedural Maps Display Resolution at 4096 pixels, and progressive display is on.
From what I've read "By default, Nitrous viewports load texture bitmaps at their full size."
How can I get the high resolution bitmap back? Is there a setting that I have missed?
I am very new to Revit (3 days) but am having an issue with the graphics display. When I start a new project from any of the preinstalled templates, the shaded views (with or without edges) do not show any shading and only display HLR. When I create a new family, or open a project from the tutorial downloads, the shading works. Is there a project setting that I am missing? Creating a render of the view shows proper shading/materials, just in the design phase it does not show.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am evaluating 3DSMax 2013 and my last version of Max was 6. When I turn my viewports to shaded, the viewports fade to black. The objects and everything are still there, and it seems like there is no light source. If I move an object around, the viewport lights back up, yet as soon as I am done moving it, it fades to black again. Is this a preference setting I have missed or something?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an object with a UV map on tiles U0_v0 and U1_V0. I have assigned a standard material to the object, the material has a composite map in its Diffuse Color slot. The composite map has 2 bitmaps in layers 1 and 2, each set on a different tile.
In every viewport only layer 1 is displayed correctly (with Smooth + Highlights shading) while Layer 2 is displayed as if with Flat Shading (swapping the bitmaps confirms that layer 1 always gets priority). Here is an example:
I will add that it renders correctly and this is a viewport thing, in any case I have tried changing the direct 3d settings in the display drivers window (preferences settings > viewport tab) and nothing so far has worked.
I've also tried hardware shading in individual viewports, nothing.I then tried installing different drivers but that did not work either. I'm using an fx quadro with the latest nvidia drivers on windows 7 x64 by the way.
In max 2012 with latest updates as of 12/12/12 the function for seeing what faces/polys i have selected in subobject does not work. I hit F2 with no effect at all but F3 and F4 have an effect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I select any visual style other than '2D Wireframe' in AutoCad 2011 for mac it stops me from being able to edit it at all, not even select any objects.
I trialed AutoCad 2012 and it allowed me to edit solids whilst they were shaded. Is this a feature difference, a bug, or something that I haven't set up right in 2011?
We just switched from 2013 to 2014. I had "Shaded with Hidden Edges hotkeys to "q" in 2013,but now it's not in the
Customize menu anymore? "Shaded with Edges," is there, and my filter is set to all. I would like to have my hotkey back.

Inventor 2014,
I am getting display of hidden edges (in fuzzy grey with shadows, like wireframe with hidden edges) while using shaded with Edges. At first they don't display, but when I pan zoom orbit, they show up to stay. When I switch to shaded with hidded edges, the same edges turn blue. When I switch to shaded, they completely disappear. So it's the Shaded with edges view that has this problem. I have also noticed it to be random files or some unknown commonality. Files were created using Inventor 2013. I'm not running Express mode, which is much fuzzier.
I did not see this during beta testing. I have a Radeon HD 5990 (2GB) - running like a champ, Intel I7- 930, and 12GB ram running Windows 7 (ultimate) 64bit. Inventor 2013, and 2014 are both installed.
I am now making drawings of complexed structures and would like to draw attention to some elements that are important for particular drawing.
What I would like best would be to be able to schade selected parts. But did not find a way to do that.
