I'm trying to make a few assemblies inseparable for a parts list in a Drawing, but I can't seem to make it work.
I know I have to do this in the Bill of Materials menu, but for some reason the part I want to make inseparable is greyed out whiles the one that is just one part isn't.
My only option right now is to make it a weldment which works but not ideal, because now the material isn't correct.
I'm trying this on the 099.03.00.097 assembly in the picture.
We just recently upgraded to Inventor Pro 2014. I have a user who has created a singled shaded view drawing. He want to print the drawing shaded. When he prints he gets a line drawing. It even appears like a line drawing when he previews it. He gets the same results when printing to Adobe. He said it printed properly in the morning yesterday and when he tried to print again in the afternoon it would not print shaded. He rebooted this morning and he still can't print a shaded drawing from Inventor. We looked at his printer settings and everything looks good. He is the only one in my department who is having this problem.
Is there a way to display the density of materials that are assigned to varius parts in the parts list on a drawing? I don't need the mass of the parts I just need the material density to show up next to their respective parts.
For example, if I have a part with [steel mild] material assinged to it (no matter the size) I need a column in the BOM on the drawing to show: 490.684 lbs/ft^3. "Worry when there's something to worry about."
I have inserted an xref but when it shows on my drawing the whole thing is shaded dark. When I look at the xref the colours are fine, until its on my drawing. I inserted it on its own layer.
Does it matter what colour I assign to that layer? I tried different colours but it changes nothing. What does that allocated colour determine?
I have a large assembly that I have been working with for about a month . I recently went in and changed some information and it seems that my work plane is way out of whack! How to get it back down to size. this makes it real difficult to use my space navigator because the center of gravity is off bigtime too. I also would like to know how to make all parts and features visible, is there a button somewhere?
It happens sometimes, when I try to turn off the visibility of a part in a created view, the option is grayed out, can't uncheck visibility. Whats the reason?
When I zoom in on a drawing, certain parts of the drawing will just disappear. Dimensions, title block, text...it doesn't matter, its different every time. It's not all the time but when it happens it's frustrating. Try dimensioning a part that isn't visible! When I zoom out to a full page view it always returns. When I zoom in again, parts will disappear. See attached screen captures and you will see the same file at different moments.
If I draw a flat square, and then a flat circle next to it, can I do things using iLogic that will make the two seperate parts interact? such as say 'if the circle contacts the square, then make the square become a circle too' or something like that?
I am currently trying to show a comparison of Center of Gravity between two assembly's. One is the original state and the other has counter weight bars. I know how to get the COG to show on my drawings, but both COG locations are the same in my drawings (but different in my assembly) My problem is when I create View Representations and I toggle the Counter Weight bars off, the COG in my drawing still remains in the same location as if they were still on. I know the hard way of accomplishing my task would be to save 2 seperate models (one with Counter Weights and one without). But I would like to take full advantage of the Representation Option. Using IV 2012 Pro.
I am not sure why, but i can't hide few parts in my drawing. I have hidden few parts and saved the view rep. I have called that particular view rep and still I am seeing it the drawing. I am unable to hide it. This is a multi body solid part file. I use INV2012. Win 7
How is it possible to have a part in an assembly and then remove it when it is not required?
I have a Skeletal assembly of a cabinet with hinges on the left hand side when facing the front. When a customer requires the hinges to be on the right hand side, I need to make the lock keep disappear from the Right hand side panel sub-assembly and make it appear in the Left hand panel sub-assembly.
At the moment, I have the lock keep, the BOM structure in the file is Normal, this is overidden in the assembly to being Reference for the first instance, the lock keep is fully constrained in both sub assemblies and both are in an array of only 1. I increase the value of the array from 1 to 2 and by a distance of zero(0), the newly added part would have a BOM structure of Normal, consequently it would then appear on the BOM. This method was something I last used when using IV2009, it was a method I used to control both visibility of parts in assembly drawings and on BOMs.
I'm now using 2013 and arraying a part with a overidden BOM structure of Reference makes the new part a reference part aswell even though the file itself is BOM structure of Normal.
How do I make referenced components from parts and assemblies? (I searched the web and it said that that you can change it in the iProperties by selecting the Reference tick box under the occurance tab - but no such thing exists in Inventor 2011!
I'm creating a small product configurator using ilogic. It all works fine, but i've i challenge:controlling the visibility of the components in a drawing view
In simple words, every occurrence of my assembly has an custom Ipropertie calles "Positie". there where 4 values (Bodem, Zij, Kop, Deksel and Overig)In a drawing view i only want to see the parts that has a specific value of the ipropertie "Positie".I found a sample code for VBA, but I cann't get it worked in ilogic.:
Sub HideSecond() 'Assumes you have an open drawing 'Assumes that view 1 of the active sheet is an assembly 'Turns off visibility of assembly's second component in open drawing's first view [code]....
hind to turn this into ilogic and add the option to check the ipropertie to turn on the visibility
I was wondering if there is a way to export or save an assembly drawing to .dwg format (that can be opened by cad or acad mechanical) in such a way that all the parts of the assembly are exported as individual blocks (within the same file) To explain- lets say I have a .i am out of which I create a drawing (.dwg for inventor). Then I export or save this as acad dwg. This acad dwg should have all parts of the assemblies as blocks so that if I want to work on a particular part in the 2d environment of acad, that is possible.
I am creating a template for our title block. We normally will have multiple assembly called out on one drawing. So I created a parts list without headings and built the headings into the title block. The first parts list I enter will anchor to my border, but when i enter the second parts list, it will not anchor to my previous parts list like I would like.
Let's say I have two independent drawings one with a single part and 1 with an assembly + parts list containing the single part.
So I would like to have an item note on the drawing sheet with the single part referring to the assy drawing, part number & Quantity for this item in the parts list.
I have an assembly drawing that i would like to have in the partlist a column with the design state of each part of the assembly, how can i do that, since that property is not in the partlist column chooser.
Is there a way to make parts invisible directly independent to the selection you made (selection can contain visible, invisible or both parts)?
Most of the time, i make a selection in the model browser and want to put a list of parts directly invisible. Sometimes i also select already invisble parts.
Now what inventor wants to do is make them all first visible before i can make them invisible. As far as i know, there is no other option to do this.
Is there maybe a combination with holding shift or something to directly toggle them invisible?
I have a part that was derived from an assembly. However now I need to make this part have different center dimensions. Is there a way to make a derived part into an iPart without creating more parts? see attachment.
I am using Inventor 2012. BTW the part is more detailed than I am showing in the attachment.
Since changing to Inventor I seem to be unable to turn off visibility of parts in assemblies on a drawing. Usually I just expand the view in the browser then right click on parts and turn off visibility. When I try this the visibility option is grey.
I have an assembly that is identical to another assembly with the exception of 2 or 3 components. I want to create 2 different configurations of the assembly, e.g. 12345-009 for the original assy and 12345-019 for the similar assy that has a couple of different components and/or additional components. I can create the -009 assembly and then do a "Save As" for the -019 assy and do a "Component/Replace" and add (or delete) other components.
I want both of these assemblies to be on the same drawing with a base number of 12345. I know I can do this and create a separate parts list (BOM) for each configuration and put it on the drawing. Is there a way to "merge" the two PLs so that there is a quantity column for each configuration (-009 and -019)? For example, if the same gear is used in both assemblies, I want a quantity of 1 in each column. If a component is used in one but not the other, i want only the quantity to show up in the appropriate configuration column.
