AutoCAD Inventor :: Suppressing Detail Of Threads On Imported Parts

Aug 3, 2013

company needs a very elaborate parts list on the drawings regarding different custom properties of parts (so I created new parts to easily add these custom columns...without screwing up parts in the content center somehow).

I needed to get things up and running quick so I imported a good handful of bolts and nuts from McMaster Carr.

the threading on the bolts is so detailed that it's really cluttering up the drawing views with extra line geometry (basically black blobs wherever bolt threads or hidden bolt threads are located)...is there any way to lower the detail of objects, say just to show the outline of the bolt and it's "perimeter" thread outline...but not show the individual threading across a bolts face?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Imported Components Default Save Location

Oct 8, 2012

Is there a way to change the default save location for imported components?  I can't stand the default "Save in Workspace" option which creates the dreaded & useless (IMHO) "Imported Components" folder.

I know how to change it during an import by clicking the "Options..." button.  But if I or another one of our users forgets to do that, then things get saved to the "Imported Components" folder.  This becomes particularly annoying with library files.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic - Set Pattern Parts To BOM Reference & Default

Oct 3, 2013

I made a flanged connection using I logic. Very simple Tube + Flange + Gasket + Blind flange + Bolting.Then I tried to write some ilogic rule to have Blind flange on / off when needed, hence the Gasket & Bolting also need to be off. Like in these images:

That works fine visually, but I also want the BOM to be set accordingly. For the Blind flange & Gasket my BOM is OK. But for my bolting the BOM is not OK. I tried to set the BOM structure the same way as the visibility but that failed. It only subtracted 1 bolt from my list (see code)

If Blindflange_status = 0 Then 'Bolting offComponent.InventorComponent("Bolting:1").BOMStructure = BOMStructureEnum.kReferenceBOMStructure 'Sets BOM Structure to Reference (Remove from BOM)Component.Visible("Bolting:1") = FalseElse 'Bolting onComponent.InventorComponent("Bolting:1").BOMStructure = BOMStructureEnum.kDefaultBOMStructure 'Sets BOM Structure to Reference (Remove from BOM)Component.Visible("Bolting:1") = TrueEnd If

Is there a way to set all parts within a pattern BOM structure? I made my bolting  by adding 1 bolt, 1 washer & 1 nut and then pattern them using feature pattern select.

AutoCAD .NET :: Closing Default Opened Document After Net Loading DLL

May 31, 2013

Context : AutoCAD Map 3D 2013Visual Studio 2010.NET 4.0, C#, WPFFDOOracle DataStore

Requirement : When I start AutoCAD Map 2013, a default document called "Drawing1.dwg" is opened. I use the command NETLOAD to load my assemblies. Final Users don't NETLOAD, an entry in the registry does the job automatically. During Initialization, my application downloads from the database a Template DWT file to initiate automatically the connection to the DataSource, and shows the different layers and styles configured by the customer. A new drawing based on this DWT is then generated.

However, the first default document remains opened. It can be sometimes annoying for the user to have both documents opened. I've never found a nice solution to close this first default document.

My technical implementation, not working :

In the Initialize method coming from IExtensionApplication, I start my application (loading business classes, user interfaces, etc...). Once started, I download the DWT, and add a new Document to the DocumentCollection (Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.DocumentManager). To this new Document, I handle many events such as CommandWillStart, CommandEnded, CommandFailed, etc... At this time, my Application asks to the user to log in. And finally, I browse the whole DocumentCollection to try to close all documents that are not the new one based on the DWT.

DocumentCollection doc_coll = Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.DocumentManager; _kleverageDocument = doc_coll.Add(dwtFilePath);
if (_kleverageDocument != null) {
_kleverageDocument.ImpliedSelectionChanged += new EventHandler(doc_ImpliedSelectionChanged); _kleverageDocument.CommandWillStart += new CommandEventHandler(doc_CommandWillStart);

[Code] ....

When I call the CloseAndDiscard method for each of the other Documents, I always get an Exception telling me that the document is currently drawing. Actually, the command "NETLOAD" is stil running. How can I do ? I tried another way, by using handled events on DocumentManager

Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.DocumentManager.DocumentActivationChanged += DocumentManager_DocumentActivationChanged; Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.DocumentManager.DocumentBecameCurrent += DocumentManager_DocumentBecameCurrent;

AutoCAD Inventor :: Make Parts Disappear From Assemblies - 2013

Nov 27, 2012

How is it possible to have a part in an assembly and then remove it when it is not required?

I have a Skeletal assembly of a cabinet with hinges on the left hand side when facing the front.  When a customer requires the hinges to be on the right hand side, I need to make the lock keep disappear from the Right hand side panel sub-assembly and make it appear in the Left hand panel sub-assembly.

At the moment, I have the lock keep, the BOM structure in the file is Normal, this is overidden in the assembly to being Reference for the first instance, the lock keep is fully constrained in both sub assemblies and both are in an array of only 1. I increase the value of the array from 1 to 2 and by a distance of zero(0), the newly added part would have  a BOM structure of Normal, consequently it would then appear on the BOM.  This method was something I last used when using IV2009, it was a method I used to control both visibility of parts in assembly drawings and on BOMs.

I'm now using 2013 and arraying a part with a overidden BOM structure of Reference makes the new part a reference part aswell even though the file itself is BOM structure of Normal.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Make Selection Of Parts Directly Invisible Instead Of First Visible

Dec 19, 2013

Is there a way to make parts invisible directly independent to the selection you made (selection can contain visible, invisible or both parts)?

Most of the time, i make a selection in the model browser and want to put a list of parts directly invisible. Sometimes i also select already invisble parts.

Now what inventor wants to do is make them all first visible before i can make them invisible. As far as i know, there is no other option to do this.

Is there maybe a combination with holding shift or something to directly toggle them invisible?

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Make Few Assemblies In Separable For Parts List In Drawing

Mar 13, 2013

I'm trying to make a few assemblies inseparable for a parts list in a Drawing, but I can't seem to make it work.

I know I have to do this in the Bill of Materials menu, but for some reason the part I want to make inseparable is greyed out whiles the one that is just one part isn't.

My only option right now is to make it a weldment which works but not ideal, because now the material isn't correct.

I'm trying this on the 099.03.00.097 assembly in the picture.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Default (custom) Material For Custom Content Center Parts

Feb 21, 2013

When inserting a content center part for which we have to choose a material, we would like to have a custom material as a default (material with name: "No material selected"). So when selecting no material for this part (for example when the user forgets to select a specific material), the default material (in this case material "No material selected") will be active. In this way, we can see in one view across the BOM which parts have no material assigned yet.

How can this be achieved in the content center (editor)?

I'm currently using the "Make components" feature to convert solid bodies into parts. This works great, but we use this method to construct angular roof structures, and after the parts have been made the parts have angular relationships to the .ipt files UCS co-ordinates. It would be very useful if I could align the longest edge of the part (Which is a timber truss) with the x axis in the model space and "lay" the plank flat on the X-Y plane.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Can't Make Individual Parts Adaptive To Multiple Assemblies Without Saving Each Part

May 4, 2013

   We use a similar sub-assembly in almost every assembly we design.  So what I would like to do is make a template from this sub-assembly that I can make adaptive, constrain to the proper parts and have it resize to the main assembly.  I've been trying to do this for a few weeks now with little success.

 I have seen tutorials make adaptive part templates but never adaptive assembly templates.  Is this even possible?

 I know you can't make individual parts adaptive to multiple assemblies without saving each part as a different file and I think that's where my problems are coming from.  Even though I save the template as a different file is it still referencing the original adaptive part in my library folder?  If so, is there a way I can make it not do that?  I may be way off base there too I don’t know.
