i can't move any object from the origin, every thing i create, create it self in the senter of the scene and i cant move and rotate, they just get stuck. i reinstall max 3 times this morning and the error continues... i dont know what else do...
View 1 RepliesI have imported a project from revit, I'd like to quickly add furniture to it. On the 1st floor everything is perfect. I just use the top ortho view to position them. The problems begins on other floors. I've tried user grids but they're extremely limited and didn't do the trick.
So, is there a way to 'move' the z0 without having to move the entire scene (move z up instead of moving the scene down)?
I am having a problem with my create and move tools. It has just started happening that every time I create an object it automatically is created at the origin. I am unable to move any of the objects i am creating from this position. I can rotate them and scale them but just cant move them. I have checked everything i can think of, they aren't locked or on a locked layer. I converted them to an editable mesh and could move them like this but the gizmo remains stuck at the origin.
Probably something really simple, just never came across it before.
I'm currently designing a frame for a geodesic dome. I have created a wireframe from an excel sheet (I calculated the vertices in a c# program) and added this to my 5-edges-corner part as derived part.
I used the wireframe to create the part that can be seen in the attached picture (basically its a 5 sided cylinder and i used layers which i generated from the wireframe to cut away the top bits).
Now because the wireframe has its origin in the WCS origin, the part isn't centered in the WCS. If I use the "move body" tool to move the part, the layer that creates the cut is not moved as well and the cuts disappear. Also the rotation is kinda messed up.
My first idea was to define a UCS and use that to replace the WCS but apparently, that's not possible in Inventor 2014.
I would like to know, whether there is a way to make the cuts permanent and independent of the layer (which is dependent on the wireframe which i want to delete anyways as soon the part is done). And what the best way would be to move the part to the WCS origin.

URL...how to move the origin of a part when you want a common origin for everything. in iv2012 you also get angles about axis, in greyed out boxes.
In a test assembly I can get the offsetting to work, but not the rotations. The part I want to edit origin of is rotated in all three axis.
I am to find a way to put the object origin icon on the commands bar, it relocate, move and align objects easily. I can find it in the transformation docker but the icon will be easier for me to use.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn 3DS MAX 2011 my transform gizmo jumps to the origin every time I go into sub-object mode making it very difficult to edit. I have been through the help file looking for fixes without success. I have major deadlines to meet this week and this is severely hampering progress. How to reset the gizmo? When I pick an object the gizmo is in its proper location, it's only when I go to sub-object mode that it leaps away to the origin.

Instead of having to mouse click the "copy" button in the move object window, one could just hold down option with Return or Enter and the Copy command would happen rather than a simple move. If I drag an effect from the target circle of one object to anther in the layer's panel it replaces the effect along with all appearance. But I want just to add the effect. For example, a layer has a drop shadow and a path, round corners. I want to move the drop shadow from the layer to the path so that the path now has the round corners and the drop shadow. To do this I have to open the shadow effect of the layer wright down its parameters, then create a shadow effect for the path with the same parameters which is a lot of work.

When I place an object on the stage, I can move or resize is uzing the handles. However when I enter the coordinates or dimensions manualy nothing hapens.
I already tried to reset the workspace (F8 during startup).

I am trying to change this to win50k from Zip-P..I need to move the lightning bolt over..layer # 18..but I cannot grab and move the object with the hand tool..The help does not offer a simple answer to a very basic operation. Just want to move the lighting bolt to the right a bit..yes I think something this simple should be idot proof - and work like powerpoint...or the tool is too complex in my book...

I want to make 2 buttons that will move each object horizontally by .35 inch, 1 button would move the object left and 1 right. There are 2 pieces of text that go with each object. I would like to select the object and texts and hit the button to have all selected move. My problem is in writing the base point and displacement parts of the macro. I think it would start with "_Move;" but I can't get past that. I used the action recorder to make the macro but can not find a way to convert that to a button.

I'm doing a simple transform action. I want to move an object to a value on the Y axis. First of all, after recording the action, and setting the Y value to 64 px, the action is recorded as 64 pt, not px. This happens regardless of my 'Units' setting. Second, it ADDS the value to the current Y value, instead of just setting the new value, rendering the action useless.
Am I doing something wrong? I don't see a way to specify an absolute value vs a relative one. Is it just a limitation of Actions in Illustrator?

This results in a double image where the mask doesn't fit the new image. How do we get the mask to change with the image?
Masking after AWA is no better. This is equivalent problem with lens correction.
I've tried AWA on the mask, no luck. Sure I can dupe the layer & rasterize and mask, etc., but I dont want a bunch of extra layers and MB.

My CorelDRAW has just developed a glitch - I can select objects but not move them (other than by using the nudge button) and if I click twice on the object it doesn't change the nodes to allow me to rotate - weird and seriously difficult to do any work in the programme. I've tried turning the computer off and on again and have tried the default setting.

i am selecting an object to move but rather than moving it alone its moving like stretch!
I usually use Photoshop and Fireworks, but have gotten sick of paying through the nose. I just installed Paint.net and notice that this program appears to be a great alternative to the above mentioned, but seems to be lacking a few tools. Once I get past the basics, I'll really start enjoying this program.
If I draw a square on a new layer, how do I select it to resize it or move it. I have tried to use the 'Move Selection' tool, but it keeps moving the entire layer and doesn't select the square.
