AutoCad :: Change Origin X / Y But Doesn't Change Origin Of Hatch
Jan 20, 2014
As in the title, expected result in attached drawing. I'm trying to change Origin X /Y, but that doesn't change the origin of the hatch. It there a setting that controls it?
P.S. Is that drawing supposed to be 0.8Mb??

I cannot select origin to constrain sketch with dimension to origin?
I selected Sketch,
expanded origin,
selected mywork plan (xy)
drew rectangle,
input dims,
right click for marking menu,
selected dimensions,
Origin is yellow,
cannot select it and then edge of rect to set dim that will center sketch on origin? Just like the videos show, but cannot select origin>

I was wondering if it was possible to change the origin of the ruler?
I have a template page I'm trying to set up where I have guides placed roughly an inch into the paper. What I want to do is change the ruler so that the origin, that is point 0,0 , is at the cross hairs where the vertical and horizontal guides meet.

In AI CS6 can you change your XY Ruler origin to automatically start in the lower left of your document?
I am coming from AI CS4. In AI CS4 when you would open or creat a new document, your X Y origin would alway start on the lower left hand side.
Now when you open a new document in CS 6 the origin starts in the uper right. If I hand drag the ruler down to the lower left, the Y coordinant reads as a negative number.

Greetings, frequently I need to identify the origin of a previously applied custom hatch pattern for use in a different area of the same drawing, is there a way to have the origin displayed and/or view its coordinates in 2009LT?
I had hoped that I could select multiple hatched areas & view their orgin points through "properties" & verify that the points of origin all align (in either the x or y axis), but this doesnt seem to be the case.

Typically when I click on the Set Origin button, all I then have to do is click on the page where I want the hatch origin to be, and everything works just fine.
I work on a shared computer. Start working this morning, and now when I click on the Set Origin button, it prompts me to inform it "SIngle or SUbobject?". And through a number of further selections, I can eventually get around to selecting my origin and having things shift around properly. But that really slows me up. Seems like one of the system variables got changed. I've doodled around a bit online, but haven't been able to find how to get things back to how they used to be.
And I tried opening a new page, restarting the program, etc., and the new way the button works has taken hold. I can't get it to reset. So on my computer (not working properly) when you click on the Set Origin button, the command line says "Command: _-hatchedit select hatch objects..select hatch objects: _S" then it says "ambiguous response, please clarify" "SIngle or SUbobject?"
On the computers that are working properly it only displays the "select hatch objects: _O" and doesn't show the _S part.

Ideally, I'd like to draw a line or circle from the origin of the original hatch

I have a simple brick like hatch that is set to have a full tile at the origin of the hatch. All is well when the hatch is horizontalbut when the hatch is rotated within the hatch edit box it loses the origin and it won't set with a full tile.
How can I get the origin to be the same at any angle and the hatch start with a full tile????????

I have a hatch (ANSI31) enclosed by a closed polyline. Whenever I change the hatch from ANSI31 to GRAVEL some of the hatch shows up outside the boundary. The Polyline consists of both arcs and line segments, and the hatching errors are occurring within the radius of the arc segments. Changing it from Associative to Non Associative makes no change.
I am using AutoCAD 2011.

I'd like to have a menu option next to "Grounded" which is "Grounded to origin", to save setting three flush constraints every time I pull a part into an assembly and want it to have the same origin as the assembly. This is something I do quite a lot using the multibody part > derived part > assembly workflow. Apart from saving time it would save cluttering up the model browser. In the meantime is there a scripting method of doing this with one click? IV2013

I'm drawing a blank, how do I connect a UCS to the existing Origin of a part. I can select the Centre Point to attach the UCS to , but I have nothing the align the X & Y axis to (X Axis and Y Axis in the Origin folder are not selectable)
If I try to add a UCS to a blank part, the ONLY thing I can select is the Centre Point, but the UCS requires 3 inputs!

I have an operator here who has an XREF that he brought in and it did not line up as it should with the remainder of the drawing. He then went in to the drawing being XREF'ed and reset the origin so that it would line up properly. When he did so, the XREF did move but no to where he set the origin. The XREF is still showing the insertion point some place other than where he has the origin set on his XREF'ed drawing.

I have just developed a problem where I can only snap to the origin regardless of where my cursor is. I have tried snapping to midpoints, endpoints, centers, etc. it always selects the origin. I even tried to change the origin to a point I want to draw from, but it sends me right back to the original origin.
I made no changes in the software setup - it started when I opened an existing drawing, and now it affects any drawing I start or open.

My model is up in the top right of the planes. I cannot figure out why my origin planes are oversized like this. I have went through the browser and checked all the parts to see if something is out there, nothing. I have set auto-resize on origin planes and yet these are large.

How to align a model to the origin, and NONE of them seem to be correct. I am using Inventor 2013. I tried the move body command, however there is no part of the dialog box that lets me choose a face or plane to align to.
What to do when you import a model that is not aligned to the origin?

How can i a re-adjust the orignal origin on an assembly? For example: i have a trailer frame (an assembly) and want to add a tank centered on top of it by constraining the center planes of both assemblies.. When i select the X-Axis/Pane from the trailer, it is not in the center of it, instead the X-Axis/Plane is 3/4 of the way off centered.

Being new to 13LT I'm not sure if they have included a system variable that would allow the origin of a snap inside a command to automatically start at the first selection point. In the old days (ACAD2000) I was able to customize my keypad to function as a protractor with the 5 key being the @ symbol. We did that with an autolisp which rules that out.

How do you constrain an object to the origin once the origin constraint has been deleted. I'm not really sure how it became unconstrained in the first place. When I try to constrain the drawing using the coincident constraint it won't allow me to select the origin.

How is this accomplished in Inventor? The 3D sketch environment seems intentionally crippled. Many of the constrains are not available, and the "include geometery" command refuses to include the origin (or any other planes and axis for that matter).

I can't seem to locate the 0,0 (ORIGIN) in Model space.
SCENARIO 1:
I create a line > specify second pt to 0,0 > Enter = NADA
SCENARIO 2:
Create a Line > Select Line > Move to 0,0 = NADA
HOWEVER, If i create something, use COPY BASE command, and and specify 0,0 --> PASTE into new drawing with 0,0 as insertion point, it can locate it... so it's there.... i just can't find it.

I'm currently designing a frame for a geodesic dome. I have created a wireframe from an excel sheet (I calculated the vertices in a c# program) and added this to my 5-edges-corner part as derived part.
I used the wireframe to create the part that can be seen in the attached picture (basically its a 5 sided cylinder and i used layers which i generated from the wireframe to cut away the top bits).
Now because the wireframe has its origin in the WCS origin, the part isn't centered in the WCS. If I use the "move body" tool to move the part, the layer that creates the cut is not moved as well and the cuts disappear. Also the rotation is kinda messed up.
My first idea was to define a UCS and use that to replace the WCS but apparently, that's not possible in Inventor 2014.
I would like to know, whether there is a way to make the cuts permanent and independent of the layer (which is dependent on the wireframe which i want to delete anyways as soon the part is done). And what the best way would be to move the part to the WCS origin.
PS: The screenshot is all in german.

When I draw a line at the origin, it does not find the origin and snap to it, or auto apply the horizontal constraint when near horizontal. Or if I draw an L the lines are not connected. That is, I can pull one line away from the other. I can not find the settingsto correct this behavior. What's up?

The screen shot below shows three coincident constraints and a projection icon on the origin.
looks like a projection icon - what does it mean?
I want to delete the three coincident constraints. But when I delete the coincident constraints there is no Sketch origin center point (the sketch origin center point is a square-yellow dot at the x-y intersection). How to delete or move the three coincident constraints with out deleting the sketch origin center point?

I noticed that relative coordinates are not working in UCS Origin in Autocad 2013.
I used to create an UCS according to a mesh of coordinates (North/East). To do that I first aligned the UCS to the North axis and point the origin to known coordinates (this part is working). Then I created a new UCS using relative coordinates, like "non @ -286200,-7485500".
This relative coordinates entry are not working anymore in this version of Autocad (2013).
