And my object can't be moved by millimeters if you know what i mean. It's always a block away.
And i can't allign my work anymore.
For example: If i want to put the right corner of a square on 1 centimeter it pops to 0.5 of 1.5.
What happened to the option/enter command in the move object dialog that has been around since the early days of Illustrator??? Instead of having to mouse click the "copy" button in the move object window, one could just hold down option with Return or Enter and the Copy command would happen rather than a simple move. Immensely useful for prepress work!

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I drag an effect from the target circle of one object to anther in the layer's panel it replaces the effect along with all appearance. But I want just to add the effect. For example, a layer has a drop shadow and a path, round corners. I want to move the drop shadow from the layer to the path so that the path now has the round corners and the drop shadow. To do this I have to open the shadow effect of the layer wright down its parameters, then create a shadow effect for the path with the same parameters which is a lot of work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm doing a simple transform action. I want to move an object to a value on the Y axis. First of all, after recording the action, and setting the Y value to 64 px, the action is recorded as 64 pt, not px. This happens regardless of my 'Units' setting. Second, it ADDS the value to the current Y value, instead of just setting the new value, rendering the action useless.
Am I doing something wrong? I don't see a way to specify an absolute value vs a relative one. Is it just a limitation of Actions in Illustrator?
after returning to work in process, i am unable to move any selected object, or to move after selecting and copying and creating a new file?

I need to know how thick some lines are in mm, and even after going to options and changing all diplay uints to mm, it still shows up as pts.
I've attached a picture of exactly what I'm referring to below. (The "Size" field currently showing "15 pt". I need that area to display mm).

View 2 Replies View RelatedIllustrator CS6, menu object, transform, move: when I move an object using orizzontal value and vertical value (example 10 mm from X and 10 mm from Y) the value in distance and angle is correct (14,1421 of distance and -45° angle) but, when I want to use distance and the angle for drawing in isometric way (example: 10 mm distance and 30° angle) the orizzontal and vertical value is not correct as you can see in the attached file below

I am using Illustrator CS6. When I select an object and open the Move window (either by pressing the Enter key or selecting Object>Transform>Move), I try and move the object at a given angle and a given distance. I leave the Horizontal & Vertical dialogs blank and just fill in the information for the Distance and Angle. When I press OK (or Copy), nothing happens. In all previous versions of Illustrator, this feature worked perfectly. I can not get it to work in CS6.

How do I shortcutwise avoid to pick an unwanted object when I'm about to drag an object ? Is there something like a key to hold, so that Illustrator understands that I want to move the already selected object only ? Since that is a 100 times per day task and I can't always lock and unlock all other layer I'm working on too ... well I could, but that would slow down working 100 times since it's not easy to identify / switch on of each layer in the layer list each time i pick another object ...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have this problem with units. I am using 2012 Autocad drafting. I want to work with millimeters, for instance usually when I type 1000, that is usually refereed as 1 meter. Now in the new model space when I type 1000 the line is so long, I even have to press regenerate so that I can see the line. I checked the units, they are set to millimeters, I also checked from options - user preferences they are also set to millimeters.
When for instance I will open an older file that I worked on in autocad 2010, in autocad 2012, it will work fine, when I will write 1000, it will actually come up as one meter. The settings in units and options - user preferences are the same.
I also copied a table from the 2010 file to the new one, and the chair comes up very big in the screen, so again I use regenerate to zoom out.
Also every time I open a new file, I have to go to units and change it from Inches to millimeters. Is there a way to do it once, so that you don't have to do it every time you open a new file in autocad? I know you can customize your workspace, and I have, but that doesn't seam to do it.
i can't move any object from the origin, every thing i create, create it self in the senter of the scene and i cant move and rotate, they just get stuck. i reinstall max 3 times this morning and the error continues... i dont know what else do...

I dont really want to change my entire drawing to millimeters because i have other drawings in my model space which suit meters. It's just this one section I have drawn is so detailed and zoomed in, it really should be in millimeters.

When I place an object on the stage, I can move or resize is uzing the handles. However when I enter the coordinates or dimensions manualy nothing hapens.
I already tried to reset the workspace (F8 during startup).

I want to make 2 buttons that will move each object horizontally by .35 inch, 1 button would move the object left and 1 right. There are 2 pieces of text that go with each object. I would like to select the object and texts and hit the button to have all selected move. My problem is in writing the base point and displacement parts of the macro. I think it would start with "_Move;" but I can't get past that. I used the action recorder to make the macro but can not find a way to convert that to a button.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up a METRIC project (that I want to make template) that uses meters instead of millimeters.
So I created a new project, without the use of any template. I copied from the default Autocad templates folder the Model and Sheet templates to the new project folder and I set the units, scale and grid to meters and changed the path in project properties to these files.
Everything seems to work fine, except creations of sections/elevations.
I edited the SectionStyles (Metric).dwg file in default styles folder and It works fine.
But I donțt want to change that file in the default folder, but to change the path of the section styles in the project. The only way I could do that was to change it in the tool palette - right click on callout.
So how can I make the SectionStyles to load from a specific location for a project without having to right click on every callout that I want to use and change it manually?
There are some other things to do/change for making the project template that I want? (I am referring to the units setup).

First, when I have a drawing to scale in millimeters and want to put its attributes, the amnotations come out extremely small. It's caused me so many headaches. the units have been set to millimeters, limits from 0,0 to 200-150 ish. Drawing a small drawing within those limits tried very, very small annotations that you can't see unless you zoom 200 times in. I don't have that problem when drawing in inches though. Annotations come out great in inches.
The second problem is that, after I complete a drawing in millimeters and I want to copy and paste it onto my template (also drawn in millimeters to fit a 12-9 paper) the drawing comes out HUGE. At least 100 times bigger than the 1:1 scale should be. When I draw and plot in inches, the 1:1 copy onto a template comes out perfect, but for some reason it always does that in millimeters. I tried placing a block over the template with the "model" to scale and that looks closest to the proper 1:1 scale. I double checked on both the drawing and the template that their 1:1, they seemed fine so I printed. When I measured with a ruler it was still off by a bit.
What I can do to make annotating and plotting in millimeters as easy as with inches?
By a mistake i have drawn my drawing in millimeters. Thus when i print it in 1:1 it is to small .
And when i click on my block and go to properties, I can't change the block unit it is grey market. is it possible to change that in centimeters ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen using adaptive wide angle on a smart object, the smart object mask does not change while the image does.
This results in a double image where the mask doesn't fit the new image. How do we get the mask to change with the image?
Masking after AWA is no better. This is equivalent problem with lens correction.
I've tried AWA on the mask, no luck. Sure I can dupe the layer & rasterize and mask, etc., but I dont want a bunch of extra layers and MB.
