3ds Max :: Imported DWG Blueprint Takes Ages To Select?
Feb 28, 2012
This happens to me on every few projects. I have this spline which is the blueprint I am using to model my scene. It was ok initially, and now after like 3 hours of work it takes like 15 seconds to select, and ages to do anything on it. And it's not one of those bad blueprints where architects double all the lines, many copies and intersections, it's a very clean and good blueprint. I tried merging it to a new scene but still the same. The scene so far has only 4 objects.
I have added live effects (mainly liquid color, edited many times, don't know if the latter matters) to a bitmap image that additionally is heavily cropped beforehand (inside Designer).
Now every time I change the size or angle of that bitmap, it takes like two minutes to render that change
Is there a way to discard the cropped parts of the image (or something), in order to speed up that re-rendering -- but without losing my many layers (or at least the final stage, but including editability of it) of the liquid color effect?
I've just switched to autocad 2012, and when I'm opening dwg files it takes up to 2-3 minutes to open and save them. Autocad 2007 opens and saves the same files in mere seconds without problems.
Just found out this place existed, and am stoked to start going through all this great info! a quick search for my question didn't yield much so I thought I would start a topic.
I am trying to figure out how to make a blueprint looking graphic. I'm designing an album cover and would like to figure out how to make my elements look a blue-printy... you know... that white on blue, hand drawn look. any tips? any tutorials or actions you can point me to?
I have a 4500x2700 450dpi company logo with drop shadow that I'd like split down the middle and make the left half look like a wireframe grid, similar to the way a 3D model might look, and then phase that into the finished half of the logo on the right.
I'm new to Photoshop other than your basic crop, convert, minor touch up stuff, but I'm thinking I need to select all the objects (logo and text), erase all but the outline of each letter/logo, and fill with a grid pattern then modify the colors and somehow fade the two halves together.
Does this sound feasible? I know with an image this large it will take a while to do this pixel by pixel, is there a tool or technique that could help me accomplish the same effect?
So image a picture of a red apple with a yellow background. How do I make adobe print out he colour codes of the yellow and red within the image? I know I can manually use the eyedropper tool and then find the colour codes and then manually type it in. However, I was wondering if I can get Adobe to automatically place this code on the image itself. Do I need a special customized plug-in for this?
I was at work today and opened a Ps document that someone else had created. I don't know what I did (I'm a relatively new Ps user) and I don't even know how I ended up saving it. The document is floor plans overlaid on a site plan with logos, text. etc. (so, it's too complicated for my limited time and knowledge to be able to re-import the source document and re-format the entire thing). When I first opened the document, all the floor plans looked normal, but now, one no longer has a white background. The black outlines of the rooms are still there, but there's nothing underneath (I see the gray and white checkerboard background between the black outlines). I need to know how to make that area white again. It seems to me like maybe I deleted a layer... maybe... I don't know...? I can't just use the fill tool to fill white into the background space because (a) the entire shape is not closed, so applying a fill to one area fills the entire document and (b) I know that's not the right way to do it... I'm trying to get it back to the way it's supposed to be, not just make it look right because other people from work might still use the electronic file.
Previously i`m using version 2009 and importing Google earth image and surface works fine. However, recently i tried with version 2010 and i`m having some problem here (imported surface / contour seems ok but the image is too large like 3x or 4x). How to solve that?
I have a dwg that someone imported and I cannot find where this object is. I have tried searching the database with DBLink, Ideate BIMLink and I have gone into every view to no avail. I also used the reviTTools add-in which says there are no drawings in the file. Am I dealing with a corrupted file? I am super OCD and this is in our Template which makes it an even bigger problem.
I create a graphic in Corel Draw X4 and export it as a .png file. It is a button with rounded corners. It will be going on a black background when put into an iphone app. So as to not have the little white corners show up from the rectangular export window, I made the button on top of a black rectangle, slightly larger than the button. I then selected the black to be transparant during the dialogs of exporting to png. When viewed in an image viewer the black is indeed transparent and does not show up. All looks fine.
To test what it will look like when put on top of a black background, I also make a black square and export it as a .png. I then open the black background in Corel Photopaint and then import the graphic into the background image. A siloutte of it shows up with the marque borders but the graphic itself (the colors and contents of the graphic don't). When combined with the black background it just disappears. Why doesn't it just lay on top of the other graphic?
When i want to print a photoshop document it takes a long time for the dialogs box to show up and from there on every click takes five minutes for photoshop to react. It might hasve something to do with a print pofile I installed for a dye printer but I have deleted tha printer and stil have the problem. May-by som way to reset the printer prifiles but I have no clue on how to do this.
One problem which i have and it seems that it is really taking wind out of me.... Th problem is one of my client requires a effect of PAGE PEEL... means we have a scanned photograph and we want to give a realistic effect that someone has teared that photo from right top to center... I really try out all the things which r there in my book but couldnt get one..
I've noticed this with several other Adobe apps, but it seems to happen with Illustrator the most, it takes forever to shut it down. Why is it such a chore and a resource hog for this program to just close? Half the time, I need to use the Windows Task Manager to just force the program to close, because it's slowing down my system, and I don't have all afternoon to wait around.
I am currently working on After Effects CS6 and I'm wondering why it takes a long time for me to render a composition. I am not sure if the problem is with the mac that i am using or with the settings i have on AE. When I render the composition of 21 seconds video with 1080p 29.97fps it takes 5 hours and eralier i triend rendering again and it takes 7 hours. is this normal?
I am using Mac with this spe
Processor 2 x 2.4 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon Memory 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Windows 7, Photoshop CS6 13.0.1 x64. I updated from CS5 and all was well. Photoshop came up very fast when it was started. One day for a reason I've forgotten, I had to delete and reinstall CS6 and ever since then it's taken I'd estimate maybe 20 seconds to come up. If I shut CS6 down and restart it without rebooting the computer, it comes up relatively fast.
I'm assuming there is a file that should be starting on boot and apparently it got lost along the way. But I see nothing unusual in my startup file.
I hit Print. It takes at leas t10 secs... then if I change the number of copies, go into print settings, it takes another 30 secs..Photoshop cs4 and 5 do this.
Windows XP 64 Dual Quad Core 8gb ram
plenty of HD space this happens with numberous files and printers... we have several HP 1050c plotters, Sharp printers, etc..
Is it normal for VSX4 to take a long time to save a project? I am finding that it is taking about 20 minutes for X4 to save my project each time, which has a running time of about 45 minutes. This is an excessive amount of time wasted in waiting for it to do its thing, as I can't proceed with anything else while it is saving.
X4 works fine for me on my 2yr old Vista 64bit quad machine with 8gigs except that it takes almost 5 minutes to boot up so I can use it.
The application boots up to the edit screen than I just get the busy signal for the next 4-5 minutes. Task manager shows it is not responding. Works fine after that.
I also have X2 and it works just fine. If I make any changes to the uncataloged folders or file format exclusions under preferences in X4 it does the same thing (5 minites wait) untill the changes have taken affect. With that in mind I believe its a cataloging issue. Once its up and running its no problem. This is a trial if that makes any difference.I have tried the reset while booting it up ( hold down the crtl & alt keys) and that causes the program to crash after I select okay from the reset menu. The program is reset though after reloading it.
I don't use a graphic card and can not get GL 3.0 support or higher if that maked any difference like it does with Corel DVD movie factory which won't work on my computer.
Today I have a lucky day by finding the reason why X4 saving project costs minutes each time I do. I bought special to be as fast as possible a Medion Pentium 5 SSD harddrive computer and installed the Videostudio software all on the SSD drive to get as much speed as possible for editing, rendering, etc....But last few month it did take minutes to save a project each time I did and could not find the reason why. I did change directories and locations on the harddrives and lots of other things to get it good to work, but now I have found the reason, it is the smartsound track what makes the problem. Without smartsound music everything works ok with saving projects in seconds.
Other Thing what makes problems is the 15 minutes limit for youtube in videostudio. I have more than 90 movies now at youtube, but have to upload them outside videostudio because their lengt of more than 15 minutes. Some movies are more than one houre and at youtube goes everything well without any problems.
i have got a problem with AutoCAD 2010 right now. Im having some procedures that take very long to process in between a Transaction Manager. Start Transaction and Commit/Abort.
When taking too long AutoCAD sometimes just disappears/crashes without giving a call stack/Exception or anything. There are also no memory leaks or exceptions raised, though i send some status messages to the command line of AutoCAD.
Does AutoCAD need anything like a KeepAlive? Do i have to send it some specific messages or anything? Is that a common problem?
I have a .dwg that displays a tumbnail of a corridor that I created. The file is large, 123MB, however when it is opened the vast majority of the drawing does not exist. As in with all layers turned on nothing appears, the surfaces do not show up in the prospector, nor does the corridor or any assemblies. The drawing is far too large for what is in it, there is one surface and minimal layouts. Additionally the mouseover previews for the layout tabs display correctly what should be there, however when the layout tabs are actually selected, they are blank. Restoring from backup does nothing. Attempting to purge etc. does nothing. Attempting to insert the entire drawing into a blank drawing causes autocad to crash with a memory read exception. (That tried on multiple machines with identical results.) I'd say that everything got deleted, but the file size indicates otherwise. cntrl-A finds nothign other than what I can see and select normally.
Just as the title says, every time i start photoshop CS2 (latest update) (windows xp) the first image always takes a long time to load (e.g. 30 seconds) no matter the image or how long i give photoshop to load first.
I have a very fast PC (only takes about 6 seconds for Photoshop to start) but no matter if I open a TIFF or JPEG file, it takes about 7 seconds for the file to open (TIFF is only about 7 MB). It tried this with many different files on the local drive or the network drive and have the same results.
Interestingly, when using the Image Processor or the Web Photo Gallery, then the file opens in a split second. I have a 2nd PC running CS3 as well under XP and have compared Photoshop settings and everything is identical. The 2nd PC doesn't have any issues with these files.
I have even tried the suggestion to switch from a network printer to a local one - doesn't make any difference.
I'm running CS4 in XP on a fast system with plenty of RAM. The last few weeks, loading up is taking a looong time. The start-up screen shows "reading preferences" for 2 - 3 minutes most times. I've re-set and trashed my preferences file with no change. I've also removed all plug-ins, also with no change. Once PS is up, it works normally. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I read in the 3DS Max help files that it is possible to have multiple takes on one scene. It said only a few file formats (such as FBX) support exporting of more than one take and that if exporter to another format only the currently selected take will be exported, however I have been unable to find out how to switch to another take in the first place.
I would prefer to have several takes for my character's different animations instead of putting different animations at keyframe intervals.
I have an issue with saving files in my Illustrator CS6 (64bit), the saving process is too long, 5-10 minutes of wait and my laptop is getting iffy while saving. Sometimes Ai crashes in midst of my work or saving and I loose hours of work.
My laptop: CPU Intel i3, 8GB RAM, 1GB Nvidia Graphics, 480GB HDD, Windows 7 Premium 64bit.
I tried fixing the problem so far (unsuccesfully obviosly) by doing this:
1) Running all updates 2) Uninstalling excess fonts, I only have 180 fonts currently 3) I do not use FontExplorerProX or similar. 4) I turned off compression option during save. 5) I turned off making PDF copy option.
Same Ai on a much weaker PC in XP SP3 32bit has saving time of few seconds. This issue was nonexistant when I first installed Ai, but as time goes by its getting worse and worse, it seems.
When I have images placed in Illustrator, even just a few small ones, Save takes much longer..so long that it can be 20 seconds before I even see the progress bar, and after that the saving actually happens.
Is there a way around this, or are we stuck wtih mind-numbing save times when we have raster elements placed in Illustrator?
