When I have images placed in Illustrator, even just a few small ones, Save takes much longer..so long that it can be 20 seconds before I even see the progress bar, and after that the saving actually happens.
Is there a way around this, or are we stuck wtih mind-numbing save times when we have raster elements placed in Illustrator?
CS6, OS X 10.8.4
I have an issue with saving files in my Illustrator CS6 (64bit), the saving process is too long, 5-10 minutes of wait and my laptop is getting iffy while saving. Sometimes Ai crashes in midst of my work or saving and I loose hours of work.
My laptop: CPU Intel i3, 8GB RAM, 1GB Nvidia Graphics, 480GB HDD, Windows 7 Premium 64bit.
I tried fixing the problem so far (unsuccesfully obviosly) by doing this:
1) Running all updates
2) Uninstalling excess fonts, I only have 180 fonts currently
3) I do not use FontExplorerProX or similar.
4) I turned off compression option during save.
5) I turned off making PDF copy option.
Same Ai on a much weaker PC in XP SP3 32bit has saving time of few seconds. This issue was nonexistant when I first installed Ai, but as time goes by its getting worse and worse, it seems.
Got this Problem since 16.0 to 16.0.1 update. I´m working on a MacPro with OS X 10.6.8.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that After Effects CC takes much longer to save my current project than previously (about 2-3 minutes). I'm used to saving quite often so this is slowing down my workflow.
The project was imported from AE CS6. I've tried starting a new project and importing the previous one manually (instead of a conversion). Same lag.
All unused footage has been taken out and the footage has been consolidated.
The AE CS6 project file and AE CC file are about 15mb so CC is not any bigger.
There are about 50 files in Arri Raw 3K, the rest is in DPX and ProRes 1080p.
I'm working from a Macbook Pro Retina 16GB Ram and all media and cache are on an external Lacie Big Disk thunderbolt Raid SSD.
My impression is that AE CC is indexing all the files before saving so it's going through all the RAW sequenced files. This could slow down the saving process quite a lot.
I recently upgraded to Illustrator CS6, and suddenly clients have been remarking that the file sizes are wrong or there's "a ton of white space around the logo." I checked it out, and sure enough, it appears that whenever I export a file, it does not crop it to the image boundary like it used to, even if I had manually adjusted the artboard to fit closely around it. After a bit of trial and error, I discovered that I have to click "Use Artboards" on the Export dialog each time. The super annoying part is that it doesn't STAY checked, AND it adds a number to the end of the file name. So I often forget to check it (not used to the extra step in workflow), and if I make a modification to the file, I can't just export over the previous version. It requires me to export it, go find it in finder, and manually delete the extra number off the file name. The extra steps are adding way too much time when I'm saving out many files. I'm about ready to go back to my previous version just from this alone.
Is there an easier way to do this? It seems like the addition of this feature would only cause extra problems...
I have Photoshop CS6 and Elements Premiere 11 and both were showing estimated file sizes properly up until a couple of weeks ago, and both stopped at the same time. Using Image, Mode I have verified on both that the images I am trying to save are 8 bit and not 16 bit images. I am on Window 7, 64bit.

I am finding that it is taking about 20 minutes for X4 to save my project each time, which has a running time of about 45 minutes. This is an excessive amount of time wasted in waiting for it to do its thing, as I can't proceed with anything else while it is saving.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSaving InDesign files to a network location seems to take an extremely long time during which I am unable to do anything else inside InDesign.I know that this has been an issue for me for at least 2 weeks (since March 3, 2014, possibly earlier). I am not certain whether I have updated InDesign since then, but have consistently been experiencing this same problem.
Today I ran some tests (all using the same ~20MB file).
Save from InDesign to network location: 12 seconds
Save from InDesign to desktop: <2 seconds
Copy file (in Windows Explorer) from desktop to network: <2 seconds
Copy file from network to desktop: <2 seconds
I know I can work on the file locally and copy my saved versions out at the end of the day, but this was not necessary before, and I don't know what changed to make this take so much longer than it used to.
Current system configuration: InDesign 9.2 x64 running on a Win 7 Pro 64-bit with 16GB RAM and a Xeon 3.6GHz processor.
Camera Raw takes almost 2 seconds to save 103MB tiff file. (I use Photoshop CS6)When i save a bunch of tiff files, camera raw uses only half of my CPU and half of my RAM. In addition, I use SSD that writes 530MB/s outside Photoshop. According to these specifications it should save 5 images within one second. But it doesnt.

I tried the Save As menu but it only allows me to save the whole artwork instead of slices.

I've noticed this with several other Adobe apps, but it seems to happen with Illustrator the most, it takes forever to shut it down. Why is it such a chore and a resource hog for this program to just close? Half the time, I need to use the Windows Task Manager to just force the program to close, because it's slowing down my system, and I don't have all afternoon to wait around.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using several resizing and sharpening batch processes which have saved a resultant file at the end with a different name. In the Batch process an original folder was selected and a destination folder and the file name changed with a different custom prefix. I have been using these batch processes with no problems for years. Without warning I have noticed that all of these batches are no longer working and the end result is one file in the destination folder, ie it must me overwriting. I have tried to recreate the basic batch process again and have resorted to using both 'save; and 'save as' at the end of the process in different test batch processes and the same result happens pretty much each time, the one file after the original folder had 5 images. I have noticed that 'Save as' is not showing up in the actions of the batch process (only shows as 'Save' irrespective if you selected 'save' or 'save as'. It is like Photoshop is refusing to accept 'save as' with a new file as a valid action. I have also tried to check the override 'save as' box etc. If you edit normally in Photoshop and 'save as' for that image, there are no problems .

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen saving a psd file I can no longer save in "compatibility mode". I'm using a Mac computer with OSX (version 10.8.3) and Photoshop CS6 (version 13.1.2 x64). I just noticed this problem tonight when I tried to bring a psd file into a MUSE project. Now whenever I save a PSD file the menu that asks if I want to save in compatibility mode doesn't appear (it just saves the file). I've reset the preferences and restarted my computer but Photoshop still doesn't give me a compatibility mode option when saving a PSD file.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been successfully using Lightroom 4 for several weeks (and the Beta version before that), but today, after downloading the Nik Software Viveza plug in, when I tried to open LR, none of my images were there, and when I clicked on a module, I received an error message saying there was an error trying to change modules. Not sure what to do. I've uninstalled Viveza, but that did not fix the problem. I've rebooted many time, that also didn't solve this issue. I also tried opening a backup from yesterday, but that doesn't work either. I use a MacBook Pro and am running Lion.
I'm thinking I may want to uninstall LR 4 and reinstall..
I need to change the direction of type on a path. Basically it is writing the sentence backwards right now. I need it to type right to left instead of left to right so the first word of the sentence will be all the way left instead of all the way right.

So when you format text in t1 long distance, for the update windows then this is visible, then no longer visible, but there was still. only way to solve computer back to earlier restore point, then everything is fine again.

(no problem with png's though).
Any new jpgs I create outside PSP display like this in the manager (but a new png displays OK):
Existing jpg thumbnails display OK (I expect the thumbnail images are cached somewhere), but if I try to edit any jpg, I get this:
I've checked for PSP X5 updates, and I'm on the latest version:
Note: I can view the images successfully with Windows photo viewer and I can edit them using Windows Paint, it's just PSP that's having issues.
EDIT: I'd restarted my PC to ensure I was still having the issue, and I still couldn't edit any jpgs. While I've been writing this post and taking screenshots with the snipping tool, suddenly the jpg thumbnails displayed correctly and now I can edit jpgs again... BUT...
Lightroom 4.3 no longer exports photos correctly.
Error Message is :- Unable to Export :- an internal error has occurred; WIN32 API error 2 (the system cannot find the file specified) when calling ShellexecuteExW fromAgWorkspace.shellexecute.
Photos are exported, but without the EXIF data?
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom. I have also tried Restoring Win 7 to an earlier build, but with no success.
I amprinting on an Epson Stylus Pro 4800 using Photoshop CS3. Although the printer will accommodate lengths up to 55 inches, when I try to print something longer than 30 inches, Photoshop crashes. Epson adives the purchase of RIP software. Is there a way in Photoshop to get around the length limitation?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSomething went wront on an ingest of my images. I think I tried correcting it by going into my /workingfiles folder were they were stored and deleting them manually. I'm sure I checked to see if I could do it through Lightroom, but maybe I missed the folder they were put in. I am guessing that is what happened so Lightroom still has a small image of them somewhere and will no longer let me re-import them.

I just upgraded my entire department to 2013 from 2008. We can no longer import aerial images from Google Earth, publish KMLs or export generic Microstation design files (we have to choose from V7 & V8.)
I can't beleive this "upgrade" actually downgraded our functionality as a department. We can no longer provide sevices to those requiring these file formats and will be forced to discontinue the use of CAD for many of our projects.
