Nov 8, 2013It happened a couple months ago, but I thought it was a bug, and now it's happened again, and now it's corrupting my original files.
Here's what's happening, at least my actions thus far. Lightroom 4 worked fine and dandy. No issues whatsoever. We then upgraded to LR5.
Now, as I'm going in Library tab through images as it's seems to be pulling up an image it shows up with jagged edges and just looks -- corrupted. So then I look at the file in Finder and now that image can't be opened up in Photoshop, Preview or any other application. For some reason LR's previews are corrupting the ACTUAL, ORIGINAL images.
Now back a month ago, it happened when it wasn't a big deal, I had the RAW original files backed up, but now, now it's corrupted at least two folders and the original RAW files can't be opened. Here's the summary:
-- As for corrupt cameras/disks -- I have files from Hasselblaad and from Canon doing this. I have many different cards that were used in this.
-- It's only when I opened up in Lighroom 5. Otherwise files were fine. JPEG conversions that were made from these images weeks ago were fine.
-- It's happening to one out of every 5 pictures or so. Which is A LOT OF PICTURES TO BE CORRUPTED.
For the ones that I have backed up, now I have to go figure out which....rename them...etc. AND HOPE AND PRAY this doesn't happen again.
-- It says it can't open the file.
And then when I go to finder, through lightroom, to RAW image it doesn't work to even bring it in Photoshop.
SO it's corrupting my files so that Photoshop can't recognize them. NOT all photos are being affected, just the folders I go to in Lighroom. Any other files in lightroom (from same day/camera) are okay.
Lightroom :: Creating Smart Previews To Images In The Catalog?
Dec 23, 2013I'm wondering if it's possible to create smart previews for images that were imported into the catalog in a prior version of LR. As my catalog continues to increase in size, I'm considering relocating my images to an external drive (currently on the hard drive). I'm obviously concerned about doing any unintended damage to the catalog and workflow.

May 21, 2013After I've exported through LR 3 I am getting different tone qualities only with two different image viewing windows. The picture attached shows the example of the image on the left opened with Windows Photo Viewer is brighter red tie and bluer suit while the one on the right is opened with Microsoft Photo Editor is more darker red and purple suit. The one on the left is the correct image.
This is also happening when the photo is sent through an inventory management system we have. I am exporting with 600 x 1200 jpeg resize 72 dpi at sRGB, 100 quality, and jPeg mode in File settings.
Lightroom :: 4 No Longer Loading Images?
Mar 21, 2012I have been successfully using Lightroom 4 for several weeks (and the Beta version before that), but today, after downloading the Nik Software Viveza plug in, when I tried to open LR, none of my images were there, and when I clicked on a module, I received an error message saying there was an error trying to change modules. Not sure what to do. I've uninstalled Viveza, but that did not fix the problem. I've rebooted many time, that also didn't solve this issue. I also tried opening a backup from yesterday, but that doesn't work either. I use a MacBook Pro and am running Lion.
I'm thinking I may want to uninstall LR 4 and reinstall..

Mar 25, 2013I'm now getting this error: "Unable to open the file. Please verify that the file is valid.", when attempting to edit a jpg.
(no problem with png's though).
Any new jpgs I create outside PSP display like this in the manager (but a new png displays OK):
Existing jpg thumbnails display OK (I expect the thumbnail images are cached somewhere), but if I try to edit any jpg, I get this:
I've checked for PSP X5 updates, and I'm on the latest version:
Note: I can view the images successfully with Windows photo viewer and I can edit them using Windows Paint, it's just PSP that's having issues.
EDIT: I'd restarted my PC to ensure I was still having the issue, and I still couldn't edit any jpgs. While I've been writing this post and taking screenshots with the snipping tool, suddenly the jpg thumbnails displayed correctly and now I can edit jpgs again... BUT...
Illustrator :: Save Takes MUCH Longer With Images Placed
Sep 13, 2013When I have images placed in Illustrator, even just a few small ones, Save takes much longer..so long that it can be 20 seconds before I even see the progress bar, and after that the saving actually happens.
Is there a way around this, or are we stuck wtih mind-numbing save times when we have raster elements placed in Illustrator?

Lightroom :: 4.3 Will No Longer Export Images Properly
Feb 27, 2013Lightroom 4.3 no longer exports photos correctly.
Error Message is :- Unable to Export :- an internal error has occurred; WIN32 API error 2 (the system cannot find the file specified) when calling ShellexecuteExW fromAgWorkspace.shellexecute.
Photos are exported, but without the EXIF data?
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom. I have also tried Restoring Win 7 to an earlier build, but with no success.
Photoshop :: Printing Longer Images On A Stylus Pro Printer
Oct 8, 2012I amprinting on an Epson Stylus Pro 4800 using Photoshop CS3. Although the printer will accommodate lengths up to 55 inches, when I try to print something longer than 30 inches, Photoshop crashes. Epson adives the purchase of RIP software. Is there a way in Photoshop to get around the length limitation?

Dec 13, 2012Something went wront on an ingest of my images. I think I tried correcting it by going into my /workingfiles folder were they were stored and deleting them manually. I'm sure I checked to see if I could do it through Lightroom, but maybe I missed the folder they were put in. I am guessing that is what happened so Lightroom still has a small image of them somewhere and will no longer let me re-import them.

May 23, 2012I just upgraded my entire department to 2013 from 2008. We can no longer import aerial images from Google Earth, publish KMLs or export generic Microstation design files (we have to choose from V7 & V8.)
I can't beleive this "upgrade" actually downgraded our functionality as a department. We can no longer provide sevices to those requiring these file formats and will be forced to discontinue the use of CAD for many of our projects.
Illustrator :: CS6 No Longer Export Images Out At Their Boundary / Artboard Size?
Nov 7, 2012I recently upgraded to Illustrator CS6, and suddenly clients have been remarking that the file sizes are wrong or there's "a ton of white space around the logo." I checked it out, and sure enough, it appears that whenever I export a file, it does not crop it to the image boundary like it used to, even if I had manually adjusted the artboard to fit closely around it. After a bit of trial and error, I discovered that I have to click "Use Artboards" on the Export dialog each time. The super annoying part is that it doesn't STAY checked, AND it adds a number to the end of the file name. So I often forget to check it (not used to the extra step in workflow), and if I make a modification to the file, I can't just export over the previous version. It requires me to export it, go find it in finder, and manually delete the extra number off the file name. The extra steps are adding way too much time when I'm saving out many files. I'm about ready to go back to my previous version just from this alone.
Is there an easier way to do this? It seems like the addition of this feature would only cause extra problems...
Lightroom :: Delete Backup Drive Images No Longer In The Catalogue?
Dec 10, 2012When I import images into Lightroom 4 I always automatically backup to my external drive. I then edit my images and usually end up rejecting about 1/3 to half of my images. I delete these permenantly from my PC and the L4 catalogue. BUT they still appear to remain on my backup drive which is now innevitably full. Is there a quick and easy way of deleting these rejected images or syning the master files with the catalogue to free up nearly half of my backup drive?

Because of the global menu,focus on the correct toolbox / area is needed. Furthermore, Unity / Gimpseems to apply the focusing a bit unintelligently. Aug 21, 2013I created a straight line using the shift,click method. Now nothing I do will affect it. When it failed to be made invisible by toggling the layer I thought I created it in I systematically went through each layer in the image, turning them visible, invisible in case I lost track of where it was created, but even though those layers became visible/invisible as they should, nothing happened to the line. I tried to create a layer above it to just cover it up, but even though the new layer was on top, the line showed through. Although this line used to be needed it is now essentially a blight on the rest of my image, which is massive. I dread the idea of having to start from scratch. I can't simply erase it because it doesn't seem to be associated with a layer. Originally, the image was created in 2.6, I think (but am not sure) that this is the version I used to make the line, but when I got a new computer I downloaded 2.8, and after this discovered the problem. Everything else works normally, is responsive,etc

I just upgraded from 2.8(.2?) to 2.8.6, and now I have this problem. I also just upgraded from Win XP to WIn 7 and upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit, so I don't know if that is a factor.
I have files I created with the last version of GIMP that I can open and see the text properly formatted, but if I adjust the text the formatting disappears and WILL NOT come back.
GIMP won't print anymore either. My printer is set up correctly and I can print from other programs, but when I print from GIMP, it LOOKS like it went through, but the printer fails to do anything. I wind up having to tell GIMP to print to the microsoft xps writer (which DOES work) and then open the xps file I just made and have windows print it.

Oct 13, 2011I've just recently purchased PSP X4 since they touted that it was much faster loading and more stable (X3 was horrible about crashing). I continue to be amazed at how they (Corel) can just keep digging a hole instead of actually improving this product. I can see why they continue to lose market share.
1) I can no longer open mulitple images at the same time for side-by-side comparison. The work area now will only accommodate 1 open file at a time.
2) I miss not having the file size included in the data box that appears when you hold the cursor over a thumbnail. It was always handy when downsizing (resizing) photos for posting.
3) It is a pain now to have to go back and forth from the "EDIT" tab to the "MANAGE" tab to view full-sized photos (without having to open one at a time). They really screwed the pooch in X2 or X3 (can't remember) when they got rid of the old Organizer format. It was soooo easy to navigate; you had a screen full of thumbnails, you saw what you wanted and clicked it open....just too easy I guess!!! I was hoping they would go back to it for this version. I know in other forums, this change really rankled a lot of users. They just seem to bounce around trying different things. I wonder who the h*ll they use to test this stuff in-house.
I do like the faster speed, but don't know if I'll go for any more versions after this or not (been here since V.7 when JASC owned it). Big mistake selling if off to Corel. I've just about had it and there is some decent up and coming competition out there nowdays.
