Illustrator :: Takes Forever To Shut Down
Dec 24, 2013I've noticed this with several other Adobe apps, but it seems to happen with Illustrator the most, it takes forever to shut it down. Why is it such a chore and a resource hog for this program to just close? Half the time, I need to use the Windows Task Manager to just force the program to close, because it's slowing down my system, and I don't have all afternoon to wait around.

Mar 3, 2014I am currently working on After Effects CS6 and I'm wondering why it takes a long time for me to render a composition. I am not sure if the problem is with the mac that i am using or with the settings i have on AE. When I render the composition of 21 seconds video with 1080p 29.97fps it takes 5 hours and eralier i triend rendering again and it takes 7 hours. is this normal?

Photoshop :: Print Dialog Box Takes Forever
Aug 9, 2012I hit Print. It takes at leas t10 secs... then if I change the number of copies, go into print settings, it takes another 30 secs..Photoshop cs4 and 5 do this.
Windows XP 64
Dual Quad Core
8gb ram
plenty of HD space this happens with numberous files and printers... we have several HP 1050c plotters, Sharp printers, etc..

Aug 6, 2008Just as the title says, every time i start photoshop CS2 (latest update) (windows xp) the first image always takes a long time to load (e.g. 30 seconds) no matter the image or how long i give photoshop to load first.

May 22, 2009I'm running CS4 in XP on a fast system with plenty of RAM. The last few weeks, loading up is taking a looong time. The start-up screen shows "reading preferences" for 2 - 3 minutes most times. I've re-set and trashed my preferences file with no change. I've also removed all plug-ins, also with no change. Once PS is up, it works normally. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Feb 3, 2014We are working in a shared storage environment with 4 editors runnig Premiere Pro CC. We set up a Master Project with all the raw media, then split it between 2 editors to sync and create rough assemblies. Afterwards, we need to import the assembly sequences into the master project. I select a bin, Import a project file, select "Selected Sequences", Dynamic Link shows that it's connected to the project, then it takes 10+ minutes (I wish this were an exaggeration) to "load" to project so that I can choose the sequence(s) I want to import. This is even more frustrating when I import a sequence and it brings in duplicate Master Clips, forcing me to go back to the project and figure out what has change with the interpretation of the clips. Is there any way to speed this process up? Projects contain 5000 - 10,000 media elements.

Sep 25, 2013Installed Elements 10 on Win 7 64 bit laptop that is plenty powerful.Created a shortcut to launch Elements directly from the directory it installed in. It can take several minutes to open, if it does. Have tried Run as Admin, no difference. Sometimes nothing happens and I have to try several times to get it open. Once open I went to Preferences and turned off all Media Analysis, and all Third Party things and anything else that might be slowing it. Only imported about 50 files into the album, and it still takes so long to open I can't tell it is even trying.

Sep 4, 2012when I first start LR4, loading the Book, Slideshow, Map and to a lesser extent, Web modules take forever. Especially the Book module - it takes a good 25-30 seconds to load. Once it's loaded it's fine. I've been told everything from "that's normal" to there's something wrong with my computer.
Laptop Spec's - Spring 2010 15" MBP 2.4 i5 with 8gigs of RAM, 256mb video RAM, 500gig 7500rpm HD.
Other's have reported similar delays (none reaching 25-30 seconds though), where as others don't have any issues at all.

Apr 2, 2014Every time need to Print on IdesignCS2 and press the print dialogue it takes for ages before it shows up. I have a feeling that its due to the excessive amount of printer drivers installed. Where can i find them to delete them cause i don't use them!

We're using LOD and derived assemblies as it's 5000+ parts, but Inventor is simply bogging down and sucking system resources in the creation process. Dec 2, 2013I have a fairly simple 3D model in ACAD ARCH 2011. I am rendering it to a viewport on a layout that contains the company border / title block. If I render the model (presentation quality) to model space and send that to the printer (color laser) the print comes out in about 60 seconds or less. However, if I render the same image and quality to the viewport on the layout and send that to the printer, it takes between 10 and 15 minutes for the image to print. The layout is simple - just line workd border and title block. The images are identicla when finally printed.
Why does it take SOOOO much longer to print when with a layout as opposed to not with a layout? The rendering to screen takes the smae amount of time either way - it's just the printing procvess that is bogged down by using a layout.

Mar 3, 2012Today I have a lucky day by finding the reason why X4 saving project costs minutes each time I do. I bought special to be as fast as possible a Medion Pentium 5 SSD harddrive computer and installed the Videostudio software all on the SSD drive to get as much speed as possible for editing, rendering, etc....But last few month it did take minutes to save a project each time I did and could not find the reason why. I did change directories and locations on the harddrives and lots of other things to get it good to work, but now I have found the reason, it is the smartsound track what makes the problem. Without smartsound music everything works ok with saving projects in seconds.
Other Thing what makes problems is the 15 minutes limit for youtube in videostudio. I have more than 90 movies now at youtube, but have to upload them outside videostudio because their lengt of more than 15 minutes.Some movies are more than one houre and at youtube goes everything well without any problems.
After Effects :: CC - Saving Projects Takes Much Longer Than In CS6
Jun 21, 2013I've noticed that After Effects CC takes much longer to save my current project than previously (about 2-3 minutes). I'm used to saving quite often so this is slowing down my workflow.
The project was imported from AE CS6. I've tried starting a new project and importing the previous one manually (instead of a conversion). Same lag.
All unused footage has been taken out and the footage has been consolidated.
The AE CS6 project file and AE CC file are about 15mb so CC is not any bigger.
There are about 50 files in Arri Raw 3K, the rest is in DPX and ProRes 1080p.
I'm working from a Macbook Pro Retina 16GB Ram and all media and cache are on an external Lacie Big Disk thunderbolt Raid SSD.
My impression is that AE CC is indexing all the files before saving so it's going through all the RAW sequenced files. This could slow down the saving process quite a lot.
3ds Max :: Saving Old Scene File Takes A Long Time?
Jul 25, 2013Have open a old max scene. And it take a very long time to save. That can have multiple reasons. Found a new (for me):
My old scene has a "render output" path to a no longer exists netzwork drive. This slow down max on save. Don't know why max access the output path on save ;( Slow down is also the Assert Tracking dialogue and "Render Output/Files..." Dialogue... Maybe max always tries to access the not existing network drive, every time ;(
Illustrator :: Saving Over Files In Right Location
Nov 8, 2013I am working from a server, say there is folder A, B, C and D.
I open up a file from folder A, amend it etc and go to save over that (cmd-shift-s - i use this as it previews correctly rather than hitting cmd-s where it will preview only a bit of the artboard) and the save dialog box will either show folder B, C or D or will just Downloads or Documents for example - basically it will want to save anywhere other than I opened it from!
This is difficult because if I am working on 4 or 5 files making small amends and just quickly wanting to save over them and get onto the next one I have to then navigate to where the file is, even though I opened the document from there.
I have experienced this problem ever since upgrading to Mavericks!
Also, the Save box is tiny! I always have to expand it to see the folder contents etc
It doesn't work either way if I use Save (cmd-s) or Save As (cmd-shift-s). My colleague is also experiencing the same problem since upgrading to Mavericks.
Illustrator :: Saving Sliced Files In CS6 Like It Was In CS5
Jun 12, 2012I used to save all my slices in CS5 and it would give me the option to save for web and devices, then when I was in there it would let me choose the option at the bottom Other... then I could go in and save it as a html and images and then it would automatically make div's for me when I brought it in to dreamweaver. Where did this option go in CS6? I lost all my work transferring it back into cs5 to try it there like I used to.
These options are not here in CS6 and I cant find it.
Illustrator :: Enabling Use Compression When Saving Files
Mar 5, 2009For years I have been enabling Use Compression when saving files. I am not sure exactly what it is doing but I do know that file sizes can decrease dramatically. I have seen 100MB files got down to 10MB.
Well the other day a coworker told me to always disable that because he believes that any embedded images will be compressed and lose quality and/or have problems ripping with Nexus or Odystar.
Is that true? Illustrator Help says that the pdf information is compressed when enabling it. So are there any disadvantages?

Jan 5, 2013Prior to printing my work, I save PDF versions of my files. More often than I'd like, when I print the PDF file from my computer, some of the graphics do not print correctly. For example, a portion of a curved graphic (like a swirl) might be cut off leaving a blunt straight edge. Have issues with PDF files? Is there anything I can do to control this quality issue?

Jun 14, 2012I have the Creative Suite 5.5. Illustrator starts, but trying to open (.ai or .pdf) or save a file causes it to crash.
I have deleted the preferences folder.
used uninstaller to uninstall complete Creative Suite package. Used Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool.app afterwards. Reinstalled. Still it crashes.
Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro all seem fine.

Jul 14, 2013I have CS6 64bit on a reasonably up to date windows 7 system. Just checked for CS6 upgrades 7/14/13, and have the latest version (13.0.1.2).
Things have been working fine since I installed the product about a month ago.
At some point something went wrong and it now takes 30 seconds or more to load a file via "file>open..."
It also takes 30 or more second just for photomerge to display the file dialog from "file>automate>photomerge..."
All other photo s/w I have loads raw files, tifs, jpegs, etc... very quickly. This is CS6 specific.
I disabled loading of plugins, didn't work (CS6 starts quickly enough, just not so much file loading).

Sep 4, 2012I'm trying to set up an action to save a batch of files I creating using the variables tool (as detailed in this video: [URL]), I'll go into the Actions window, and record myself saving the current file in .Ai format, and then stop recording. Seems pretty simple, but when I set that action to run a batch on my dataset it saves all the files without an extension. Am I missing another step where I set the file format that the action is supposed to save with? I'm confused. I've tried this using a few different file formats and they all come up the same.

Aug 4, 2011I've just switched to autocad 2012, and when I'm opening dwg files it takes up to 2-3 minutes to open and save them. Autocad 2007 opens and saves the same files in mere seconds without problems.
