Photoshop :: Action To Make Text Look Like Blueprint
Feb 11, 2005It makes the text look like it's on a blueprint.
View 1 RepliesIt makes the text look like it's on a blueprint.
View 1 RepliesJust found out this place existed, and am stoked to start going through all this great info! a quick search for my question didn't yield much so I thought I would start a topic.
I am trying to figure out how to make a blueprint looking graphic. I'm designing an album cover and would like to figure out how to make my elements look a blue-printy... you know... that white on blue, hand drawn look. any tips? any tutorials or actions you can point me to?
I have a 4500x2700 450dpi company logo with drop shadow that I'd like split down the middle and make the left half look like a wireframe grid, similar to the way a 3D model might look, and then phase that into the finished half of the logo on the right.
I'm new to Photoshop other than your basic crop, convert, minor touch up stuff, but I'm thinking I need to select all the objects (logo and text), erase all but the outline of each letter/logo, and fill with a grid pattern then modify the colors and somehow fade the two halves together.
Does this sound feasible? I know with an image this large it will take a while to do this pixel by pixel, is there a tool or technique that could help me accomplish the same effect?
I was at work today and opened a Ps document that someone else had created. I don't know what I did (I'm a relatively new Ps user) and I don't even know how I ended up saving it. The document is floor plans overlaid on a site plan with logos, text. etc. (so, it's too complicated for my limited time and knowledge to be able to re-import the source document and re-format the entire thing). When I first opened the document, all the floor plans looked normal, but now, one no longer has a white background. The black outlines of the rooms are still there, but there's nothing underneath (I see the gray and white checkerboard background between the black outlines). I need to know how to make that area white again. It seems to me like maybe I deleted a layer... maybe... I don't know...? I can't just use the fill tool to fill white into the background space because (a) the entire shape is not closed, so applying a fill to one area fills the entire document and (b) I know that's not the right way to do it... I'm trying to get it back to the way it's supposed to be, not just make it look right because other people from work might still use the electronic file.

I need some action, to copy the text from the File Info>Deskription box, and paste on the photo.
I have PS CS3 on Win XP SP2, 2 GB RAM, nVidia geForce 8500GT with updated drivers. Until 2 days ago everything was perfect (smooth movement and action in PS CS3). Suddenly every move I make (draw a simple line, move or resize window, painting with paint brush etc) become very choppy and fragmentated and CPU raise instant to 100%. I uninstalled PS CS3 and reinstalled again, but with no luck. Any ideea about what is happening here? Thank you! PS: Other programs like Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator etc work very nice and smooth with maximum 20-30% CPU usage.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis happens to me on every few projects. I have this spline which is the blueprint I am using to model my scene. It was ok initially, and now after like 3 hours of work it takes like 15 seconds to select, and ages to do anything on it. And it's not one of those bad blueprints where architects double all the lines, many copies and intersections, it's a very clean and good blueprint. I tried merging it to a new scene but still the same. The scene so far has only 4 objects.

be aware that our Plug-Ins are 32-bit. CS5 allowed for our Plug-Ins to be installed in 32-bit mode on the Mac, but this was not offered for CS6. You might check with Adobe to see if they will offer this in future. We are currently evaluating the possibility of updating our Kodak Professional Image Enhancement Plug-Ins to 64-bit, but have no definite plans as of now. Make Action to Batch process PDF to JPEGs saved for the web
I have about 80-100 pdf's that I want to change from 300dpi to 100dpi indexed color and save as gif.
If I create an action
Convert pdf to gif
with steps
Mode > Indexed Color
Save as gif
running this action as a batch only opens the files. I am left with files open in RGB mode, not indexed color. This means the batch processor did not run any of the steps in my action. (Yes, I did make sure in the batch dialog that I specified my action set.)
Here is my action in the action menu.
pdf to gif
Convert mode
To: indexed color mode
Pallette: adaptive
Colors: 64
Forced: Black and white
Without transparency
Matte: None
Save
As: Compuserve GIF
With Interlace
In: ...
Here are my steps, using a test folder with 2 pdf's:
1. Launch Photoshop
2. File > Automate > Batch
3. Batch dialog:
Set [my set]
Action [pdf to gif]
Source: Folder
Choose: [my test folder with 2 pdf's]
Destination: Folder
Choose: [my testgif folder, empty]
File naming: Document name + extension
Errors: Log errors to file
File: [my testgif folder, empty]/error.txt
4. OK
5. Set resolution to 100dpi.
6. Click OK for 1st pdf.
7. Click OK for 2nd pdf.
Actual result:
Both files open and stay open.
Both files are still RGB mode.
No gif's in testgif folder.
errors.txt reads:
Start Batch
End Batch
Expected result:
Files closed (possibly I have to add a Close step)
2 gifs in the testgif folder.
Using an action of Save for Web in place of Mode > Indexed color also did not create any gifs.
I'm wondering whether the PDF dialog on open is throwing a wrench into the works.
I am trying to create an action that will make multiple thumbnails of the same image and apply actions to each one to create a kind of contact sheet. I want to do this in order to see what different saved adjustments will look like on the same picture.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhy is there a difference between the text from the soft fx and the text in action? If you look at the attached picture, the 3 lines look slightly different although they shouldn't. The first line was written inside the soft fx.
The second line, with an ugly outline, is the 3D text, and although it's the same font, it looks thinner here.
And the third line, which I think looks a little too soft, is with AA turned on in action.
So why can't I achieve the same look in action, as in the text soft fx?

'm trying to make an action to automate the saving of one photoshop file to multiple different jpegs. Basically what I am doing is producing team pictures from a psd template. I will do player #1 then save as #1jpeg, #2 save as #2jpeg, etc up to 20 players. I tried to make an action but it won't allow me to insert a file name. It would be straight forward if I could get a stop in there. how I could automate this
View 5 Replies View RelatedI’m trying to create an action to resize my images, convert to rgb, add some copyright text and save it. The problem is when it gets to the text part it stacks the text one letter on top of another. Very frustrating...
I have a powerbook 1.33ghz with osx 10.3.8 running Photoshop CS. I tried all the usual suspects (pref, plist, fonts, info window, reset tools, etc...) I then created a new Mac OS account, downloaded a trial version of PS so it was completely fresh (except for my computer’s OS) I then created a new action in the new PS with the new account. Same thing the text stacked (This is just the action, the type tool after it is reset works fine.)
I then whipped out my credit card and called adobe (not happy about not being able to fix it myself.) $39 dollars later, I talk to a very nice tech support guy. We isolated the problem down, created a new action with the default text settings ‘typing the word “test” in the middle of the image.’ I then ran this on one of my images, same thing text stacked. I then created a new blank document (5x7 at 300ppi) and ran the action, this time it worked. While the tech guy went to ask someone else a question, I made a new document that was 600ppi, not 300ppi, and ran the action, the text was stacked. When I told the tech support guy this, he tried it on his computer and had the same results. I asked what to do and the tech support guy said I should use two actions one to resize and one to add text. That stinks, I regularly work on hundreds of files at a time and running multiple actions on the same files is very time consuming.
I have a folder of about 500 photos that were scanned in from old prints (my wife's faimily) of avarious sizes. I would like to write a Photoshop action that will add a border (half an inch) at the bottom if each and print the contents of the "description" field from the file info box in it. Any one have any idea about how to accomplish this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use an action to add a standard copyright notice which I want to update from 2008 to 2009.
I have tried exporting the action and changing 2008 to 2009 in a text editor and then re-importing the action. The result is that the action palette shows the new year, but the result of running the action is still 2008.
Is there a neat way to make minor adjustments to text in actions, or do I have to re-record that part of the action over again?
i've seen lots of t-shirts out there with a blurry text that really messes with your eyes. i've checked a few action download locations but haven't been able to find one yet. i've attached an example of a shirt with the blurred text.
the problem is that it can't be just a regular blur, since it's silkscreened. i think it ends up being a bunch of lines or dots in the text to create the effect.

View 8 Replies View Relatedi think it's really hard for me but i have to change the text (Vvcvvcv....) in a Make text layer action. What is the best way using the action palette?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyway, my quest is to create an action in CS3 that will position and size text (eg. center) as a watermark in any size image. Currently I am creating a copyright symbol, then a text layer and then another text layer and either grouping them in the action or merging them down as created to be in one layer. This works fine as long as I run the action on another file of the same size but when it comes across a different size file the components are all over the place and differently sized.
I gotta admit I don't know a lot about text though. Just thought someone may be able to help me with this one so thanks to all who contribute.
I wanted to add effects to text. The "help" feature said that the easiest way is to use the text effects in the Action palette.
The instructions were very sketchy. I tried, and didn't see any effect, so I closed that particular file and went on to something else.
Well, I guess I did SOMETHING, because now those effects seem to be permanently stuck ON. I've tried everything that I can think of. I even deleted all effects from the Actions palette (apparently you can restore the defaults later.) No effect!
The effects that are haunting me are "rippling water" and a shadow. Also, if I click anywhere in a .gif with the text tool, instead of creating a new text layer, it "highlights" the entire image.
What can I do?
I want to create an action where I create a stop, add text (patient's name for medical photos) which is automatically formatted to my preference of font size, color, etc. I can then hit the action play button to run the remainder of the action command, which will join and size photos from different files for printing. I can do everything but add the patient's name.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to create an action in PS CS3 with the ability to type different words in the middle of the action?
For ex, I have a series of steps, then need to save the image to 2 different sizes/resolutions, with a different name. So I want the action to run, stop where I type in the name for the hi-res, continue, then stop where I type in the name for the lo-res, then finish the steps desired.
When I load an image either a jpeg or psd file then make a layer copy I am unable to apply a preset action to this. Either a default action or one of my own on a Mac OSX running Lion. This did not present a problem in CS5 and I am wondering if I've missed something basic?
