3ds Max :: How To Tweak Z-depth Render Element

I trying to make DOF outputing Mental Ray z-depth render element but I get a lot of defects around objects and between objects. I use AE and FrischLuft to comp the two images, and how to optimize the anti aliason to get rid of the ghost effect and the smearing (see image).

I can't figure out how to use planes with alpha masks in my scene when output z-depth element. The grey information is based on the geometry in the scene and not on texture. I think it would be possible to make a material based on the distance to the camera but my scenes have huge amount of objects and it's not realistic to texture every one.

3ds Max :: Render Element Output Files - Format And Name

Sometime with some scenes, I have this trouble :

-when I render my beauty pass in TIF 16bits with render elements and when I leave MAX set my render-elements output files automatically, MAX use the initial name of the output beauty pass. So technically, It is suppose to make a couple of file with the same format and the same name.
-ok, I presse render to Backburner and I wait.
-Now my render is done, I go check my output files. And, sometimes, without constancy, my beauty pass is a TIF 16bits but my passes are in gray-scale or in 8bits or 16bits in random.

If I restart the job on Backburner, maybe it fix this problem, maybe not.

The unique thing I find to fix that is to set all my passes manually. but it's a pretty heavy process.

AutoDesk Smoke :: Resize Different Bit Depth Make Cfx Clip Not To Render

I'm inside cfx where at the end of my network , i attach resize and set bit depth to 10 bit. Then i create a cfx node. The cfx node now cannot be rendered. After finish rendering, it will be back to unrendered state. The project setting itself is set to 16 bit fp. If i set that resize using the same 16 bit , then cfx clip has no problem.

The client is happy with it, but I just want to tweak it some how to get rid of that slight bluish pall over on the right side of the photo.  I was hoping that color mixer or channel mixer or something else i'm not familiar with would fix it and what I'd really like is to just make that blue turn into a slight gray so it looks "correct."

I find it a little hard to use the mouse scroll button for panning and rotating. Often I tend to zoom the scene or in the act of balance the scroll button when pressing it, I don't get the right tool and have to press it again, and that makes it not as intuitive as I would like to. I wounder if it's possible to alter the way I pan and rotate? Can I place the pan and rotate function at the right mouse button? Or is there mouses on the market that have a middle mouse button AND a scroll wheel so I can separate the pan/rotate from the zoom?

I have recently purchased a 3d model of a car which I need to make 3d print ready for a project. I have come a long way since, getting to know the software and finishing all of the chassis. However, whilst editing parts of the car's bottom side, I noticed that when viewed from this perspective it is badly out of shape. When compared to a real model, one can see that the body is way too narrow in between the tires, making the whole thing kinda look like a bone. I have attached pictures of both, the unedited 3d model I purchased as well as a real model which I know to be very accurate to the real thing, to show you what I mean.

I keep getting a dialogue box that says "Revit was unable to render the view due to an unknown error during render calculations. The rendering operation will be canceled." The only option is to click "close" and when i do so, it continues to render but only the sky and grass. My buildings are not present.

The same scene, same settings, produce 2 very different outputs in max 2011 and 2012, render to texture for normals is currently useless in max 2012.

The blue one is a correct tangent normal map created from a sphere in max 2011, the colored one is the the one created inside max 2012 from the same objects and settings, and the last is another sample of normals generated in max 2012.

Is it possible to render an object to fit exactly into the render window. i.e If I have a plane object segmented into 512 * 512 segments and I randomly colour each polygon. If I render at 512*512 pixels, I would like to fit the plane exactly so that the rendered image shows 1 pixel per polygon.

Whilst you can select region to render its not that exact and is based on the visual window. can it be utilized with render blowup.

Basically I want to render a square object exactly ( no borders) at a large resolution, hence the need for render blowup so that I can render into smaller tiles.

Photoshop seems to be converting pictures that I open to 8-bit from 24-bit: before the problem I think it was converting to 16-bit because Photoshop doesnt seem to support 24-bit but I cant remember.

I've been using Photoshop CS4 for about 4-5 weeks now without any problems and this just seems to have come out nowhere. The problem doesn't seem to be related to Camera Raw at all because I don't use it to import my pictures, so the "Workflow Options" don't seem to have any effect on the converting. I've also tried to delete the preferences file and that doesn't help either.

A friend of mine asked me if a could find a quality pic (intenet) of some gold bars. I searched iStockPhoto and downloaded one .eps file whitch I wasn't too happy with. Then I searched Google (large images) without a result. In desperation I searched Microsoft Office Clipart and found something (.jpg) I might be able to improve. I've used PS7 for some time but with this 8 bit image I feel "blocked" on where to start making the image looking more natural colourwise. Could someone please put me on the right track? Thank you. I'm want to add depth to my image. I've attached an image with the effect I'm looking for. Basically, it just makes the shape pop out just a little. I see they've did a fade around the edges, so I'm wondering what the easiest way to do this is. I achieved the same type of effect using the blend tool, fading the edges to black, but it's rather tedious and didn't look as good.
