3ds Max :: Using Planes With Alpha Masks In Scene When Output Z-depth Element
Feb 11, 2012I can't figure out how to use planes with alpha masks in my scene when output z-depth element. The grey information is based on the geometry in the scene and not on texture. I think it would be possible to make a material based on the distance to the camera but my scenes have huge amount of objects and it's not realistic to texture every one.

Dec 28, 2011I need to output dashed paths to a 3rd party device that will draw/cut those dash marks on material. I have found methods in the AI SDK that describe what the dash marks look like (ie GetPathStyle, etc).
But this requires me to perform all the calculations of where those dash marks actually appear along a path which Illustrator has already done (since it displays those dashes to the screen).
Is there a method(s) that already exists that I can call and it would return me the start and end points of each dash mark that appears on a path? I have started working on the code to do this but can see that it is going to get pretty involved and was hoping that this was already available in the sdk and I just missed it.

May 11, 2012I have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.
Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)
Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.

Feb 9, 2012Actually, I have more than 6 years experience on Catia V5 customization and vb and vb.net catia API's. What I am trying to do know is converting some applications or programs running on catia to the inventor.
The first program deal with the inventor API relating to the SweepFeatures class. So my first problem is about to find the right way to use the sketch3D for the creation of the path which is the input of the sweep method.
(oInvPartFeats.SweepFeatures.AddUsingPath(oInvProfile, oInvProfPath3D, kNewBodyOperation).
I know That is possible to create a path by using the CreatePath method when the input is SketchLines or any guide curve in the 2D Plan. Also, I tried to generate path by using the ProfilePath3D method of the sketch3D class but No way, the AddUsingPath method of the SweepFeatures Class doesn't accept it as path Input.
So I cannot imagine that is limitation of inventor because it was possible to do it by using the seep function of the model tab in the ipart document. How to create the path object as an input of the AddUsingPath method of the SweepFeatures class.
3ds Max :: How To Re-path Material Library With Bitmap/ Photometric Path Editor
Jan 25, 2012I have a bunch of material libraries that need to be re-pathed as I have moved my textures, the Bitmap/Photometric paths editor has a tickbox that says "include material library" which leads me to believe that it will list, for re-pathing, all materials in my library.
However, it doesn't seem to do anything for me even though the library i need to re-path is loaded into my Material/map browser.

Mar 1, 2013I am attaching a File as a xRef. At the time of Attachment, I select attach as attachment, and No Path in Path.
Now if I try to fetch detail of this file using MdiActiveDocument.Database and BlockTableRecord, I gets only file name not the path. However, In AutoCAD we can see the file path under "Found At". Can we read / fetch this using C#.
In case of Full Path or relative Path, I gets full path in btr.PathName

Jan 9, 2013I've tried every permutation of copy and paste; I renamed the path to path. It looks like a path when I add stroke, but it does not behave like one. I can't cut it or join it to any other path. It remembers it's text path status. I'm running OS X 10.7.5.

Mar 20, 2014I accidentally converted a path to a text path. I searched the forum for how to convert it back to a regular path. The answer I found said to select the path and hit Command+C+F. This gives me another text path! I now have at least 6 copies of the path in my files but they are ALL text paths and none are visible with a stroke.

Photoshop :: Converting Bit Depth On
Mar 1, 2009Photoshop seems to be converting pictures that I open to 8-bit from 24-bit: before the problem I think it was converting to 16-bit because Photoshop doesnt seem to support 24-bit but I cant remember.
I've been using Photoshop CS4 for about 4-5 weeks now without any problems and this just seems to have come out nowhere. The problem doesn't seem to be related to Camera Raw at all because I don't use it to import my pictures, so the "Workflow Options" don't seem to have any effect on the converting. I've also tried to delete the preferences file and that doesn't help either.

Jul 25, 2005A friend of mine asked me if a could find a quality pic (intenet) of some gold bars. I searched iStockPhoto and downloaded one .eps file whitch I wasn't too happy with. Then I searched Google (large images) without a result. In desperation I searched Microsoft Office Clipart and found something (.jpg) I might be able to improve. I've used PS7 for some time but with this 8 bit image I feel "blocked" on where to start making the image looking more natural colourwise. Could someone please put me on the right track? Thank you. Oct 1, 2011I'm want to add depth to my image. I've attached an image with the effect I'm looking for. Basically, it just makes the shape pop out just a little. I see they've did a fade around the edges, so I'm wondering what the easiest way to do this is. I achieved the same type of effect using the blend tool, fading the edges to black, but it's rather tedious and didn't look as good.

They don't intersect, exactly, a straight path ends at a curved path, but I need the end of the straight path to be curved, to make it look like the two meet perfectly. Photoshop :: Convert 2D Image To 3D Using Depth Map?
Jul 17, 2013getting the best results when creating 3D images in Photoshop. I've been experimenting in the creation of 3D images using a 2D source using Photoshop CS5. The output is intended to be a lenticular print.

I've achieved some good results by converting my single 2D image into multiple layers, creating 3D postcards and adjusting the parallax and focal plane. This gives a good illusion of depth in the image, but (in my experience at least) I can't get a layer to look like it's popping out of the screen.
I've also tried using a single image and creating a depth map from a greyscale image. This does work to make it look like the image pops out of the screen, but I can't get the same illusion of depth that I get in the other case without distorting the image.
What I'd like to do is combine both methods, using the depth map for the foreground layer and using parallax and focal plane settings for the background. Unfortunately I can't get this to work. If I use a semi-transparent layer as the basis for the depth map I get a light grey fringe around my target layer when I apply the greyscale mask and if I then try and set the parallax and focal plane settings as I would have in the first scenario, the layer with the depth map becomes unusable.
