View 1 RepliesI can't figure out how to use planes with alpha masks in my scene when output z-depth element. The grey information is based on the geometry in the scene and not on texture. I think it would be possible to make a material based on the distance to the camera but my scenes have huge amount of objects and it's not realistic to texture every one.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSometime with some scenes, I have this trouble :
-when I render my beauty pass in TIF 16bits with render elements and when I leave MAX set my render-elements output files automatically, MAX use the initial name of the output beauty pass. So technically, It is suppose to make a couple of file with the same format and the same name.
-ok, I presse render to Backburner and I wait.
-Now my render is done, I go check my output files. And, sometimes, without constancy, my beauty pass is a TIF 16bits but my passes are in gray-scale or in 8bits or 16bits in random.
If I restart the job on Backburner, maybe it fix this problem, maybe not.
The unique thing I find to fix that is to set all my passes manually. but it's a pretty heavy process.
I'm inside cfx where at the end of my network , i attach resize and set bit depth to 10 bit. Then i create a cfx node. The cfx node now cannot be rendered. After finish rendering, it will be back to unrendered state. The project setting itself is set to 16 bit fp. If i set that resize using the same 16 bit , then cfx clip has no problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRight there in the topic, I can't figure it out. You can only choose millions of colors and trillions of colors when looking at the depth in the output module. And even if you pick 8-bits per channel in the render settings it still renders the files to 32-bit.
It's basically a (pure) white spinning star fading out gradually so there is no need to render it with that many colors.
Is it possible to use something like a parameter that would allow you to enter a width in the element properties window of the selected wall(s)?
we would like to have a generic wall (outline only) that the width can be changed per wall for layout purposes, then the walls will be selected & changed later to an actual wall with known materials.
I have a biped model animated in a cave scene, with several columns in the middle of the cave.
I am rendering the model in a different render pass than the cave itself.
I would like to render out the model with the alpha channel obstructed when a cave column comes between the model and the camera, so i won't rotoscope in nuke the shape of the column.
Don't know how to call this rendering pass....
When I save a render as PNG and then open it in Photoshop, it doesn't have the alpha channel, just R,G & B channels. The PNG Configuration Setup when saving the image has of course Alpha channel box checked, but is not available when I open the file in Photoshop.
Note: I was able to do this in 2008 version.
I can't seem to find any plug ins or if its even avaliable in cs3 extended already. All of my BMP images aren't being shown correctly cause I can't run the maxscript to correct the 3d image. how to run a maxscript in cs3 extended?

Problem: in order to get Revit Mep to calculate roofs in the heatload calculation I the floor I used need to be a roof.
Revit MEP does not calculate any roof area since in my model I used floors to finish a level. Which i architurally correct. But partially it's also a roof. Revit Mep does not use the floor as a roof. So what i want to do is to redefine a complex floor with lots of curved sides etc. into a roof.
The question is: is it possible to just tell revit somehow to change the categorie of the element to roof? or do I have to redraw the whole floor as a flat roof?
When setting up a new project, I'm unable to change the bit depth for the project. It's set to 8-bit and ghosted. The graphics render button has a selector but when clicked it doesn't bring up the drop down.
My guess is that it has something to do with my hardware configuration (read: I need to upgrade my GPU) .
I want to make a subassembly in SAC 2013 to change the slope after require depth, see attached example.

Is it possible to automate the following: I have a directory of about 50 jpg files. With each file I would like to:
- make the image square, by increasing the canvas size of the least dimension. ie if the width is less than the height, increase the width to the value of the height, or conversely if the height is less than the width
- add a transparency layer
- save to xcf

I am in the process of transitioning from land desktop to Civil 3D. I design roads in steep terrain and sometimes need to have my catch (daylight) slopes change. So my question is, how do I change a daylight slope at a specified depth? For example, from the shoulder of the road I want a 3:1 fill slope to a depth of 10 feet than change to a 2:1 slope until it catches the existing surface. Can this be built into a subassembly such that if the fill is less than 10 feet it will daylight correctly at a 3:1 and if the depth is greater than 10 feet then it carries the 3:1 for 10 vertical feet and then changes to the 2:1 until it daylights?
