Xara :: Line Width Become Transparent Not Solid
Aug 8, 2011I'm working on a project, and all of a sudden when I ad a outline line width to an object the outline seems transparent to me. I can get it to stop doing this with copying other objects in the scene that have a solid line around them, but as soon as I go back to the other items the transparent line width starts happening again.

Jan 9, 2012I'm doing Gary's Create a Sunflower and pot (July 2008) tutorial and just as always I run into problems combining/converting shapes. I believe I have followed the tut exactly and the only thing my lines do is taper at the bottom.
Also, I'm using Designer 7 and there is no option for changing line width to 6 px, only 4 and 8. So I'm using 8 pxls. I tried typing in a 6 and hitting enter but it doesn't accept a 6.

For example similarly as at texts the Ctrl + Shift + < and Ctrl + Shift + > do that, changing the text size down or up.

I'm not in good command of the Xara model here. If I create a move a series of copies lines (in effort to, say, make a grid), if I move the line from the bottom upwards it tends to align on the top edge. If I move from the above downwards, it tends to align on the bottom edge.
However, not always. <----this spooks me a bit.
This is with "align to grid" on, but "align to object" off.
Is there a way to have the line path itself (the infinitely thin middle of the line) align to the grid? I'm assuming that I can then worry about line joins (mitre, butt, etc.) separately.
Xara :: Latest Version Set Line Width Not Working In Flyout Menu
Oct 28, 2011I recently downloaded and installed the latest version update. Everything seems to be working fine. However, one thing is not. The Set line width box in the flyout menu does not allow typing in a custom number. I thought it might have been a problem with my Cintiq but it is the same on my main monitor.
The Set line width box in the main toolbar works fine. But the one in the flyout doesn't work. I can select a setting from the dropdown list but just can't type in something like 1.5. It doesn't matter if I use my number pad--with the numlock on--or the keyboard numbers. Another strange thing I just noticed, when trying to type in a number in the flyout box, I cannot type 1 or 2 or a period but I can type in 0,3-9 although none of these changes the width of the line.
This worked okay in the previous version so perhaps it is a bug in the new release? (7.1.2.18680)
Illustrator :: Smooth Transition Of Stroke Width Along Line Segment While Preserving Original Width Outside
Mar 5, 2014Trying to use the width tool, I ran into the following problem. I would like to have a smooth transition of the stroke width between two width points while keeping the original stroke width unchanged outside of that line segment.
There are four width points here: two end points and two in between. The original stroke width is 200. The two on the left have one side set to 100 while the two on the right have one side set to 50. I would like to eliminate the distortion of the line width occuring in the first and third line segments. The only solution that I have come up with so far is to place two additional width points very close to the two middle width points: one with a 100-unit side to the left of the second point in the picture and one with a 50-unit side to the right of the third point in the picture. Yet there will be a small distirtion in between.
AutoCad :: Options Window Not Display When Typing Options In Command Line Or Selecting From Drop Down
Jul 2, 2013The options window will not display when typing "options" in the command line or selecting from the drop down. The options menu has to be hidden somewhere because AutoCad will not allow any other commands after typing options until I hit escape. I have tried restarting CAD and rebooting my computer with not luck.

May 9, 2013When we design vehicles, we often give dimensions that are based off the centerline of front axle. In a particular drawing view, if we don't show the actual axle, how can we dimension an item from this imaginary line that is located on the frame? I tried creating a sketch on the drawing view and drawling a line but I can't locate that line any particular way...meaning I can't put that line 50" back from the front of the framerail, for example.

Nov 18, 2011I am having problems with my acadlt.pgp file when I take my laptop home with me. I lose all hot key options and can only use the on screen icons, or I can do some commands (save, line, ect.) in longhand command. I was told by our I.T. guy to mention that it could be a "roaming profile" issue? How can I get my hot keys back when i'm disconnected from our work server?? This is actually becoming an occuring issue with others in our department as well.

Jun 7, 2013We are trying to use the "Underline top line" option located in the Content tab of the Modify MultiLeader Style dialog in AutoCAD 2012 (See attachment).
The minor issue we have is that there seems to be no way to adjust the gap between the text and the "underline". In regular dimensions, there is a dimvar called DIMGAP that controls this distance. Is there any way to control the distance between the top line MText and the "underline"?

Mar 26, 2009I am looking to draw my pipe with a thicker appearance than the typical line of width "0". Our storm pipes are usually drawn with this so as to stand out from other utilities. If the pipe is represented by a polyline, I have usually adjusted the "Width" or "Global Width" value to my liking. With pipe objects, it seems more complicated. I have searched the settings, and the closest thing that I could find was the Lineweight property, but that appears to have no effect on the line thickness in the CAD drawing.
Do I need to tweak a plot setting? Make a new linetype altogether?

Jun 9, 2011How to create custom shortcut arrow for icons the default shortcut arrows in windows vista are huge you can use the program Ultimate Windows Tweaker UWT v2.2 (to clear off the shortcut arrow completely) or Vista Shortcut Manager to give a beautiful blue arrow
I am going to show you how to do it with xara
1. make a 256 x 256 pixels (px) square (very thin line 0.5 px , no fill)
2. draw an arrow inside in the left down corner
3. give it a drop shadow if needed
4. export as png
5. use program Iconfx

or
[URL]....
6. open the png in iconfx (drag and drop)
7. a "new image dialog box will open" click ok
8. advanced import dialog box: click ok
9. untitled with the png image in 48 x 48
10. now click the windows icon in the toolbar, that will make the icon
11. save the icon in a folder - give the name empty.ico
12. go to C:WindowsSystem32
paste and replace the the empty.ico which is in that folder (if you want backup the original one rename it to emptyoriginal.ico then restart explorer
this empty.ico is an overlay above any shortcuts for applications, files etc.
Now you will be able to see the custom made shortcut arrow over any shortcuts

Oct 5, 2011I haven't used any XARA product so I'm wondering if any of the XARA products are suitable for creating icons for Android or iPhone apps? I'm looking to create the fancy glossy icons that look 3D-like. Output would be PNG, JPG, and may need to import PSD (photoshop) file. The icons would have to be created in different resolutions/sizes.
Or should I stick to icon centric apps like IconWorkshop from Axialis?
AutoCad :: Scale Command - Increase Width Of 2D Sketch?
Jun 24, 2012I am wondering whether we can increase the width of a 2D sketch (e.g., from 3.0436 to 4.3175: 1.42 times); in the meantime, decrease its height (e.g., from 7.6091 to 6.625: 0.87 times) by the SCALE command.
I've tried it several times in different ways, but both width and height were gonna increase or decrease at the same time!

Oct 2, 2011Where is the option to control page width & height so that you can make both even measurements? I typically get something like w 1920.4px & h 1080px. When I try to change the width to 1920 the height adjusts as well. I know there is a simple fix for this but I can't find it.

I want to create CSS Sprite pages, I have looked at the graphic library with its buttons and to be honest they are great but I cannot get over how you can split the mouse over images from the static none roll over images within the layers section.
