VideoStudio :: Pro X4 - Losing Clip Audio

May 27, 2011

I've been using Videostudio Pro X4 for a few days now and I've seem to have run into the problem of losing the audio of clips after I have muli-trimmed them. It doesn't matter where I multi-trim them in the timeline, after I have confirmed the trim I lose the audio for the clip?

Let me be clear: the audio for the clips work perfectly before any editing ie. trimming and they are placed in the main video track. The clip formats are mainly AVI, MP4 and DivX AVI and have varying lengths.

VideoStudio :: Lose Audio On Imported Video Half Way

Apr 19, 2013

I just bought VideoStudio Pro x6 from Amazon last night and got to tinkering around with it. I have a MP4 video that I imported in and half way through previewing it, the audio drops. The original plays all the audio fine, but VideoStudio just can't get past a certain point with the audio.

I copied this from my system info. Not sure what's needed:

I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (6.1 Build 7601)

AutoDesk Smoke :: Losing Audio Playback Every Few Minute

Aug 5, 2011

Every minute or so, I loose audio on playback (timeline or sources). The only thing that seems to fix the issue is cycling between AES BNC (or XLR) to Embedded and back, and the audio will playback fine again . . . for a few minutes, and then I need to recycle it again. I've restarted Smoke, restarted the computer, and down a full shut down and restarted . . . and the issue continues.

VideoStudio :: Extract Audio From Video Clip And Export Audio To Audacity

Jul 10, 2011

I have recently upgraded my old VideoStudio 12.00 to VideoStudio Pro X4 and have only just started using the program again after a couple of years of absence so I am still on a learning curve.

Can I extract the audio from a video clip and if so how and how can I convert it, if necessary into an Audio Interchange File Format, so that I can export it to a program such as Audacity for removing background wind noise before importing the Audio back into the videoStudio project.

I have tried using all the audio filter functions in VS to remove the background noise, to no avail.

VideoStudio :: X4 Constantly Crashes During Editing

Sep 19, 2011

I installed x4 the other day and it appeared to work fine. I have a Sony HD camcorder that I believe is AVCHD. I have been using and importing clips from this camera. I got the notice that an update was available and I updated the program. Since then, every time I try to edit a movie it constantly crashes. I try to import some music, it crashes. I came to the conclusion that it was the update causing it so I restored my computer to the day before I updated. It still crashes.

Premiere Pro :: Audio Gradually Goes Out Of Sync When Video Imported Into CS5.5?

May 9, 2012

Audio sync problem I'm experiencing with videos recorded with the latest iPad 3 (well, that's what I'm calling it anyway).

I believe the iPad 3 recording format is 1080/30p with 44.1Khz / 16 bit audio, but when I match those settings on a Premiere Pro CS5.5 project (or try 48KHz audio as a test), the audio gradually goes out of sync. If the video is several minutes long, it becomes quite obvious, and by 10 minutes, it's terrible!

I should add the file plays back fine on the iPad itself and was imported to a Mac via iTunes. It also plays fine on the Mac itself in Quicktime.

On a related note, I additionally captured the audio using a Zoom H2n which i intended to replace in Premiere, but foolishly I captured it at 48KHz, rather than the 44.1KHz of the iPad video file. Should I resample it?

I actually managed to line-up the 48 and 44.1KHz waveforms from the iPad and Zoom in Premiere quite accurately, but again both gradually go out of sync with the video...

I'm running Premiere Pro 5.5.2 on Mac OSX 10.7.3.

AutoDesk Smoke :: Imported Audio File (Stereo MP3) Plays Slower

May 22, 2013

When I import an audio file into Smoke it ends up being longer, and plays slower than it does outside of Smoke.

The file is a stereo mp3, 16 bit, 44kHz
Its normal duration is 13:19
In Smoke it shows up as 13:30

I tried applying a Time Warp to speed it back up but I can't apply the speed change. It is reset back to 100% after trying to change it.

Even if I don't import the file, in the MediaHub, in preview mode it shows up with a duration of 13:30 and plays slowly.
The project has a 24P frame rate in case that has any influence.

VideoStudio :: Losing HD Video When Rendering In X3

Nov 16, 2010

I have a GoProHD Hero camera, I've been recording stuff mainly in 960p at 30fps because that's all my computer can handle at the moment.

My main problem is that I lose the HD part of the video after edit and render the video in VideoStudio X3. The file type is MPEG4, when I render the final project, I set it to save as the same file type, at 1280x720p with a data rate of 5Mbps all in the H.264 MAIN codec mainly for Youtube uploading purposes.

If I were to upload the raw footage directly to Youtube, it's in true HD and uses the full width of the player when played at 720p. However, when I upload the final project to Youtube even when set to play in HD (720p) it is only in letterbox format.

Am I rendering my projects incorrectly? Why does it keep doing this? Is it some sort of file compression issue or something? I'm pretty new to the whole video editing platform, I'm pretty much learning on my own.

VideoStudio :: X5 - Crop Video Without Losing Quality?

Sep 5, 2012

I bought VSX5 Ultimate last week to go with my new GoPro Hero2, climbed the learning curve, and can now produce presentable videos. I've read the (not very complete) VS User Guide, checked Corel's Knowledgebase, spent the better part of thirty hours twiddling filters (rendering to a 1280x720 output file and viewing that outside of VS) and spent about eight hours searching this forum and the Interweb for the answer to no avail, so here I am:

I have 1920x1080 30p MP4 video from the camera, but want to crop it to 1280x720, and not lose image quality. Can VSX5 do this, and/or how?

I'm new to video, but very old to photography. When I say "crop" I mean "throw away the area outside of my cropping rectangle, resulting in an image of smaller dimensions."

I do not mean "fill the area outside my cropping rectangle with the color of my choice, resulting in an image of the same dimensions" as happens when using the Crop Borders filter.

Video Pan & Zoom doesn't work as the final results are abominable; as soon as I specify 150% zoom (amount needed to make a 1280x720 area fill a 1920x1080 area) quality is lost. The Cropping filter produces the same (lost) quality results. Distort Clip does the best job but still suffers some image quality degradation, and it's nearly impossible to get a precise "150%" crop (or "33% reduction" as my Photoshop brain thinks) as dragging the handles is all by eyeball. I think the problem is that all of these options entail two steps: (1) Enlarging the area I want to keep, causing it to fill the frame -- AND losing quality in the interpolation process. (2) Saving the entire frame (clip), now filled with lower-quality "larger pixels" so to speak, at a smaller size than original.

My Project Properties are NTSC drop frame (29.97fps), AVI, 24bits, 1920x1080, 29.97fps, Frame-based, Uncompressed, PCM, 48kHz, 16bit stereo.

My Movie Template that I'm using is MPEG-4, 24 bits, 1280x720, 29.97fps, Frame-based, H.264 High Profile Video: 12500 Kbps, 48000Hz, 16bit, Stereo, MPEG AAC Audio: 128Kbps.

Am I trying to do something that can't be done? Am I overcomplicating something? Am I missing the "photographic crop" filter?

The burnt DVD plays fine on the computer as well.

When I play it on a DVD player & TV I lose about 6 or 7 percent of the picture edges all the way round. I have tried it in 3 different DVD player/TV combinations with same results.

I have tried burning with VS itself & Nero - same results. It is relevant as the file is of still with text that goes very close to the edge.

VideoStudio :: Pro X4 - Losing Quality When Rendering / Burning?

Apr 2, 2012

I'm working on a video to propose to my girlfriend with next month, and I have all the edits done and the project is complete (including the DVD menu), but every time I render it it loses quality, and then when I burn a disk it loses even more quality. I'm just burning it onto a standard DVD so I know it won't stay fully HD, but it's pixelated in several parts which really is annoying.

Some details:

Original file properties (.mts):
File Format: NTSC HDMV
Video Type: H.264 Video, Upper Field First
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 16:9
Frame Rate: 29.970 frames/sec
Data Rate: Variable bit rate (Max. 20899 kbps)

I don't know what camera they were shot on, a friend did the shots for me and I didn't think I'd need to know the camera specs.

I've tried rendering using several of the default options in the Share tab (MPEG Optimizer, DVD, MP4). So far, MP4 has worked the best.

When I burn it to a disk, though, it gets really bad. I tried burning straight from the project and burning from the rendered video file. Burning from the rendered file was less pixelated, but still not as clean as I want it to be.

VideoStudio :: Losing Clarity In Video Footage After Rendering

Apr 20, 2013

I am using VSX5 and after rendering a project of video, where I have added transitions and titles, the video image is not as clear as it was before I rendered.

I have captured the footage from a mini dv camera using firewire, or, someone else has captured the video footage on a dvd using a dvd burner and given me the dvd to import into VSX5. Sometimes VSX5 will not read that dvd for import, so I have used freemake video converter, and converted the dvd into an mpeg file and put it in a folder on my computer where VSX5 "grabs" it. During the edit phase, the video is clear, after render, it loses some of it's clarity and is blurry.

This has not always been the case. The only thing that has changed with VSX5 is I installed sp2.

VideoStudio :: Losing Scene Data When Moving Clips (9)

May 26, 2011

VS9 enables users to virtually split clips by scene before adding them to the work space. It does not split the actual file but just keeps pointers to the various scenes. VS9 keeps this data in a file named scenedb.dat. However if the clip is moved to a different location then the scene information is not re-linked and is essentially lost (as far as VS is concerned) although the data is still in the scenedb.dat.

Is there any way to go around this problem and recover the scene info after a clip is moved?

That is, besides not moving the clips to a different folder than the one it was in when the scene data was first generated and/or re-generating the scen information?

I tried simple editing of the file path in the .dat file but this does not seem to work. It would be nice to understand the encoding rule for the scenedb.dat file to 1) update it 2) use it to generate some index db outside of VS (e.g. html page).

VideoStudio :: Get Timecode Imported Into X3

Nov 18, 2010

I have a Canon DC210 SD digital camcorder, which records onto mini DVD's. The camcorder has no USB, IEEE 1394, connector on it. The only way to get video clips onto my PC is to put the mini DVD into the DVD drive of my PC. The video clips are stored in .VOB format, which is a shell for MPEG2 data. The camcorder records a timecode in the video file, but when I use the Capture/Import from Digital Media function that timecode does not get brought into VS X3. I have searched the forum, and see several articles about timecode imports from DV tape, but I didn't find anything about importing from digital media.

I have tried putting a check in the Add Video Date Information as Title checkbox, but I do not get the timecode in the imported file. Canon assures me the timecode is there ready to be imported along with the MPEG video data, but I can't get at it. I have tried importing directly from the mini DVD, and from the .VOB files saved on my hard drive, still no timecode in the imported clips.

VideoStudio :: Bad Imported MP4 HD Video?

VideoStudio :: Audio Lag In 11.5 Plus

Dec 10, 2010

I am having a problem with way slow audio in Ulead Videostudio 11.5 plus. I know it's an older version, but the format is similar or the same for some of the programs and maybe someone else has had that issue on even a new software version.

I managed to make some music videos with the software, after going to Youtube, as the manual for the software really isn't that great in all honesty. it simply doesn't tell you much detail on doing things. Putting in a music track to the video clips and then turning the sound on each clip all the way down wasn't a problem, but now that I want to do a normal video-I'm finding the sound in the virtual clip or whatever(which I recorded into my digital camera-mov. files), plays like Jabba the Hut off Starwars!

What do I do here to make it sound normal and be able to edit properly and share it in normal sound?I tried splitting the audio and then it sounded normal, BUT it still had that nasty slow sound on the audio. No matter if you mute it or pull the sound down in the video/audio clips in editing. How do I get rid of that slow sound or change it to make it right? Do I even need to split audio there?

VideoStudio :: No Audio In X2?

Dec 13, 2010

So I go to edit some video and now all of a sudden there is no sound/audio playback in any of my clips. The files are fine. They play fine in other software, and in other editing software as well. But this is the my software of preference and I can't use it. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED. The same thing has also happened to my DVD Workshop 2 software. And the same thing happened to at least 3 previous versions of VideoStudio. Everything works great and then one day BAM, no audio. The data is there because if I go ahead and render it again and play the new file on something else the audio is still there. So the problem is only on Corel/Ulead products. As a matter of fact I just downloaded the VS X3 demo. I cannot find anything about it online anywhere. If I cannot figure this out I am NEVER going to buy another Corel/Ulead product again. And I am a longtime user, way back to version 3 or 4. And for some idiotic reason I keep buying the new versions.

VideoStudio :: X2 Stuttered Movement In Imported Projects?

Oct 27, 2010

When importing a HD project (not rendered footage) into another HD project in VSX2, the movement of objects in the rendered AVCHD is 'stuttered' - why ?This is NOT a transition or title stutter as per one of my previous posts - which was resolved by downloading the trial version of VSX3.

In VSX2 I have cut down my AVCHD source film into smaller, more manageable chapters - each a separate VSX2 project. When assembling these chapters, I chose the "import project" (ex chapter 2 into chapter 1) as I used to do with UMSP7.0 Once BD-RE is cooked, the first chapter looks fine but the subsequent chapters have very noticeable problems with movement - especially vehicles moving accross the screen - it looks like the frame rate has gone right down to 10fps (iso 25 for PAL).

Oddly enough (I would have thought it should be the opposite), if I render each chapter to AVCHD and then import the rendered chapters, image movement is much smoother (virtually same as original). The project properties are all the same in each project (PAL AVCHD 1920X1080 25fps); I have tried activating the 2-pass render and have tried switching on and off the anti-flicker but no improvement.

The "import project" feature that I used in UMSP7 is great because it allows you to create the chapters independently but then put some uninterrupted music over the links between chapters in the final project to ensure continuity if desired.

I am using Corel VS X5. I have created MPEG4 files using Adobe Captivate and imported them into Corel. When I preview them, if I select Clip, the video looks fine. But if I preview the Project, the video is blurred. I first thought it might be caused by Smart Proxy but after disabling that feature, the problem persisted. I tried publishing the project to see if the final version would be ok. Still no luck. I tried the online chat and they suggested updating my viewers. I did as instructed and restarted my PC. Still no luck. My imported MPEG4 file is 1024x767 HD.
