Is there a way to control topography triangulation in Revit 2013? I did number of surfaces in Civil 3D and when I brought them as a contour lines in Revit I got not very correct surface.
I wonder how Revit could deal with complicated grading if even simple one is wrong.
I added some polylines for site but it didn't work. Revit tends to smooth, smooth too much I would say. It gave up only when I added extra points within footprint.
So, I've made topography, cut it with building pad, and have those sides between topography and building pad, which I want to paint or attach material to (see picture). And can't find tool to do it. Blue arrow points surface to be painted, but I don't want to change surface pointed by red arrow.
Revit 2012 .I have a topo file linked to the main building file.I am trying to render a 3d exterior view of the building (new construction ).I see the linked topography in black lines in my elevations.but not in the 3d view.
The question/ problem unsolved is how to get the site/ ground to be visible as per the linked topography in the 3d view of the main file . All I see is the building in the air , with a very light greyed site in a block form. I would like to see the site in earth: soil material for me to render the exterior view.
In the REVIT 2012 Basic Sample Project, the 3d view site has sides or an apron which conceals the building foundations and gives the site some mass. I have included an attachment with a 3D exterior view of the sample project and a project with a "Sideless" site. how the sides in the basic sample project are achived?
Is there a quick way of profiling topography under a undulating concrete floor slab? In other words so that the topography follows the underside surface of the slab. I know this is possible by adjusting each point on the topo surface but is there a quicker way?
I have a triangulution when using 3d max 2012, in 2011 doesnt happen, its in viewport and render. When turn on direct x 9 the problem in viewport dissapear but in render is still.
I'm a relatively new user to Revit (almost a year). My issue is that all of a sudden my view control bar is located so far to the left in the view window, the project browser almost covers it. I know that I can move the project browser window so that isn't all that critical. My concern is that when I want to look at a schedule it also is so far to the left of the screen I have to move the other windows to see it.
I've just spent a day creating a set of door families, each with the door opening out.
I now want to have a variation with the door opening inwards (same frame etc) and if I was doing it with Autocad 2D would do so by having a flip grip and selecting only the frame, door panel, swing etc to flip about a certain centreline.
This doesn't seem possible in Revit, flipping seems to all or nothing?
How do you control texture mapping. Review the attached PDF for illustration on this problem.
My goal is to predictable create geometry in Revit that when a material is mapped to it the desired result will be achieved. My industry has a lot of objects created out of veneered wood, and solid wood forms. Revit is not giving me the texture mapping I am looking for.
We have numerous families to create, but the ugliness of the UVW mapping .......
I'm facing a problem dealing with visibility formulas... My situation that im dealing with is, I have 2 yes/no visibility parameters, one that is called Right side clearance and another one named Left side clearance. I want to create another yes/no visibility parameter that's called Clearance. I want to link the Right and Left clearance parameter to the Clearance parameter where if it is off, then there will be nothing that shows.. But if I want it on then I would have to select either right or left without them both showing up?
I am trying to find where to control the Crop Region Line. I'd love to be able to creat view templates to control visibility and also Line Weight. Currently we are turning them off per view. and only want it on for 3D View and Interior elevations.
I know that by selecting each view crop region, right clicking and overriding by element I can control the weight.
I have a model with 15 floors and shaft objects in them. No matter what the Phase setting is for the shaft object the floor holes created by the shaft always show and cannot be eliminated with any Phase filter view control. We need to adjust shaft locations and would like to maintain the cutting by shaft object through all floors.
How do you control the bottom depth of a toposurface? I have a structure with a basement and the "Earth" stops at the top of the footings so that my details show the footings floating in space!!
How to set 2 adaptive points (AP) to control the position and diameter of a circle. Have tried setting a ref plane driven by circle dia param but justs results in overconstrain when flexed. Is it possible to a) lock the centre to an AP and lock redius to AP?
Is it possible also to lock a ref plane to an AP so that the AP drives it rather than the other way round?
I have a model whit lots of non orthogonal walls. How can I control the alignment of an elevation view? Align does not work, and the elevation tag has almost not options. I tried with an scope box, but I get a message "elevation must be parallel to the scope box" That is just what I want!!!!!!!!!
I need a scatter distribution object like a railroad.
I draw a smooth line, then converted it to spline: using sub-object "spline", i used "Outline" to give it some width. Next step, it was converted to a Editable Poly.
At this moment, if i select its vertices and call "Connect", the result is a zig-zag sequence of edges, which are very difficult to clean-up. Another way, select each pair of vertices to apply connect is similar time consuming...
Maybe the picture aid to show the problem.
How to connect those verts like a railroad??? Or about how to create an appropriate scatter distribution object to this work?
I am trying to control the height of the camera for a walkthrough so that I can go up stairs. I know that I can activate the "Mini Tour Building Wheel" and can do it that way but it is very clunky to use and I don't always get the right angles. Is there a simple way to control each key frame's heights like you normally would a camera (eye and target elevations)?
I would like to be able to control the fire rating a door must have through a yes / no parameters. I have created a shared parameter for all the different codes and then I have loaded them into the family, now I just want it to work so that when a rating is checked the name will be in "Fire Rating".
EI0 selected when the door is not fire rated.
As can be seen in the picture, I found out how it can be doneif there are 3 checkboxes.
When I make my rooms for a building, I want them to be a specific distance from the previous wall, say 10'. But when Revit measures the walls, it measures from the center line of the wall and not the edges. How do I correct this so it is measuring from the nearest edge so I'm not constantly having to think about how thick the wall was on each side and manually add 5 inchs or whatever it is in order to get a solid 10' room.
Also, when placing rooms, I have found that the program keeps making the reference distances from points halfway across the house. For example, if I want to make a room 10'x 10', and go to place the top wall of the room. If there is another wall across the hall or something that may intersect if you extend an imaginary line, the reference dimensions won't be 10' from the bottom wall, but it would be something like 4' 5 7/16" from that other room that has nothing to do with the wall I'm trying to place. Does that make sense? How do I turn off or control the meaningless reference points?
what is the trick for holding triangulation within a surface boundary? I recall a setting somewhere but can't seem to find it... attached graphic, would like to hold the surface triangulation within the arcs which are in the surface definition as boundary
If there are any places to get topography symbols, I got hired to draw a topography map of a mining area for a client and I am in Desperate need of good quality aerial mountains, trees, dirt, etc. Like you would see on a topography map.
