I have a model with 15 floors and shaft objects in them. No matter what the Phase setting is for the shaft object the floor holes created by the shaft always show and cannot be eliminated with any Phase filter view control. We need to adjust shaft locations and would like to maintain the cutting by shaft object through all floors.
View 1 RepliesSince Bolts nuts and key shafts are not sectioned according to standards I can´t find a way to section a shaft inside a section view without cutting through these components. I have posted in attachment an example of the problem and a picture of what it should be like.

My issue is that all of a sudden my view control bar is located so far to the left in the view window, the project browser almost covers it. I know that I can move the project browser window so that isn't all that critical. My concern is that when I want to look at a schedule it also is so far to the left of the screen I have to move the other windows to see it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project that has been completed in Revit. The designed facility needs to be split into two phases due to budget constraints. I have looked at creating two Phases - Phase I and Phase II. However the tricky part is having Phase II display greyscaled. Successful in having phase I greyescaled and displayed acordingly with Phase II. I have looked at the phase filters, but unsucessful in getting phase II to be greyscale since it is future work in the order of the phases.

is it possible to split a floor face in existing phase, paint it, then move to new face and un-split and paint it to create a new split and new paint?
Is there a way to demolish (new construction) an opening into a wall that is an existing phase (existing wall)?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a floor plan of a simple remodel to show cutting a new door into an existing wall. The plan has ALL the info on it; existing, demo, and new. I have applied the Show All phase filter. The door jamb lines of the new opening don't show up (see attachment). I can add detail lines to take care of the issue but then these have to be managed.
I am not interested in creating seperate demo and new views for such a simple project.
When I insert a new window into an exterior wall in the proposed phase, the demo phase drawings shows dashed lines on the faces of the wall, but no dashed lines running through the wall on the left or right of the window. This makes it very hard to tell where the demo opening should be. Attached is a screenshot of this issue.

I have gone into 'Manage', and "Phases" under 'Phasing', and under the tab, 'Graphic Overrides', changed 'Material' for 'Existing to "Phase - New". But this did not change anything.
Where else does this get changed?

We use electircal elements in AutoCAD dwgs that have labels to indicate the status of the element by phase. For instance on a floor plan we might have elctrical outlets that are existing (E), new (N), demo (D), etc. How does one do this efficietnly in REVIT? Is there a way to assign a paramter to grab the phase of the object and then adjust a label accordingly? This would be ideal because over time the element s might move from one phase to another such as from new to existing.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhy when the view cube and the view control do not harmonize. When I set the view to front to start a 3D model, the view cube is set to Top. When I change the viewcube to Front, the view has automatically been set to Bottom. Is this a bug or something I am missing?
Also drawing a front view. Is is ok to just turn the view to Front and start drawing on the same XY plane? Or I also need to rotate the UCS to ZX?
Does such initial position important with respect to future rendering?
Why new rooms show up in lieu of existing rooms when"show previous and demo" are set for the phase filter? Every single other existing element including doors, walls, windows, etc. show in the "show previous and demo" phase filter with the exception of rooms.

Possible to view the control points of a 2d or 3d object. I know that we can view the control points for spline objects, but is it possible to view the control points also for every other object i draw?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using AutoCad for 2009 and had it all set perfect. Just had a computer melt down and trying to establish everything back how I had it all before.
One little tool that was very useful was a drop down box called, VIEWPORT SCALE CONTROL. I had all my scales in there and used to just click the border in paperspace, click the scale from the drop down box and set your scale. How to get this back.
We have our first project in Revit that we are having to split among multiple sheets because of the size of the building, so I have made 3 dependent views from the main overall view, named them, cropped them and placed each part (A,B, and C) on separate sheets. Now that I am trying to do enlarged toilet plan views, I want to tag the plans with the plan callouts on the 1/8” sheets that are the dependent views, but all the view tags are referencing dependent view A since it is the first dependent view in the list. If I change sheet A to be named Sheet X for instance, all the view tags now reference sheet B since that becomes the first dependent view alphabetically. I want them to reference the sheet they appear in, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do that, even though they are in different dependent views completely and within the crop region, they all default to the first dependent view in alphabetical order.

I now want to have a variation with the door opening inwards (same frame etc) and if I was doing it with Autocad 2D would do so by having a flip grip and selecting only the frame, door panel, swing etc to flip about a certain centreline.
This doesn't seem possible in Revit, flipping seems to all or nothing?

My goal is to predictable create geometry in Revit that when a material is mapped to it the desired result will be achieved. My industry has a lot of objects created out of veneered wood, and solid wood forms. Revit is not giving me the texture mapping I am looking for.

Is there a way to control topography triangulation in Revit 2013? I did number of surfaces in Civil 3D and when I brought them as a contour lines in Revit I got not very correct surface.
I wonder how Revit could deal with complicated grading if even simple one is wrong.
I added some polylines for site but it didn't work. Revit tends to smooth, smooth too much I would say. It gave up only when I added extra points within footprint.
I'm facing a problem dealing with visibility formulas... My situation that im dealing with is, I have 2 yes/no visibility parameters, one that is called Right side clearance and another one named Left side clearance. I want to create another yes/no visibility parameter that's called Clearance. I want to link the Right and Left clearance parameter to the Clearance parameter where if it is off, then there will be nothing that shows.. But if I want it on then I would have to select either right or left without them both showing up?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 3D view and when I turn on the clip boundary everything disappears, which leads me to believe that the clip boundary is off to the side somewhere. I zoom out & out, but can't find it.
Is there a way of resetting it? I could just make a new view, but I'd have to set the perspective again.
In this view I have hidden all the objects except for the one (a book case) that is being detailed. Every time I model something new it shows up in this view. Is there anyway of stopping new objects showing in a given view?
Why Camera Views is different from all other views in Revit. It is simple not possible to add a view reference, or a tag etc. to reference to a camera view.
Of course I can put in a 'dead' symbol to show where it is in plans, but that's simply not the same...

When placing or creating a new part in an assembly it is visible in every view rep which is a huge pain the proverbial.
Is there a setting to tell Inventor to only make newly inserted/created parts visible in the active view rep.

i want to control the scales of my idw views based on the parts size.
Heres a short intro to what we do, using design assistant we copy an existing project to a new project folder and start designing using the old project as a "template" for the new job.
So, lets say the project i just copied has a part that is 100" "tall", on my drawing sheet the view scale is set to .05 and the view fits nicely on our 8 1/2x11 portrait layout.
Now, the new project's part is only 24" "tall" and using a scale of .05 is no good at all, i need to scale the view up so it will fit nicely in the same layout. This also applies to the associated detail and section views that are on the same sheet.
OK then, Im thinking there should be a way to say if dimx is >=100 then view scale is x and so on if the part is smaller and i would like to do this with the details/sections.
As the pics show, when i change to a smaller size/dia, the views scale needs to be increased. How can this be done... (we do not use vault)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find where to control the Crop Region Line. I'd love to be able to creat view templates to control visibility and also Line Weight. Currently we are turning them off per view. and only want it on for 3D View and Interior elevations.
I know that by selecting each view crop region, right clicking and overriding by element I can control the weight.
Is there a way to add the number of control points on the leaders? if i need to make it bend multiple times, is that possible?
currently i have two, one to control a "kink" and one to control the end point. can you add more to it or adjust a setting?
