Revit :: Rendering 3D View - Roof Disappears In The Render View

View 6 RepliesI keep getting a dialogue box that says "Revit was unable to render the view due to an unknown error during render calculations. The rendering operation will be canceled." The only option is to click "close" and when i do so, it continues to render but only the sky and grass. My buildings are not present.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a "Jersey Barrier" as an adaptive component (attached). It is basically a profile extruded along a series of reference lines hooked to adaptive points.
In some plan views, under certain geometric configurations, the extrusion disappears in the view. The points highlight if you mouse over them. In a parallel 3D view, the component is still there. If I adjust the geometry in certain ways, the component will reappear in the plan view.
Here is an isolated view (3D on left, plan on right) with a configuration where the object does not appear in plan.here's a view where I have moved one of the adaptive points, and it appears in plan.

We have our first project in Revit that we are having to split among multiple sheets because of the size of the building, so I have made 3 dependent views from the main overall view, named them, cropped them and placed each part (A,B, and C) on separate sheets. Now that I am trying to do enlarged toilet plan views, I want to tag the plans with the plan callouts on the 1/8” sheets that are the dependent views, but all the view tags are referencing dependent view A since it is the first dependent view in the list. If I change sheet A to be named Sheet X for instance, all the view tags now reference sheet B since that becomes the first dependent view alphabetically. I want them to reference the sheet they appear in, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do that, even though they are in different dependent views completely and within the crop region, they all default to the first dependent view in alphabetical order.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 3D view and when I turn on the clip boundary everything disappears, which leads me to believe that the clip boundary is off to the side somewhere. I zoom out & out, but can't find it.
Is there a way of resetting it? I could just make a new view, but I'd have to set the perspective again.
In this view I have hidden all the objects except for the one (a book case) that is being detailed. Every time I model something new it shows up in this view. Is there anyway of stopping new objects showing in a given view?
Why Camera Views is different from all other views in Revit. It is simple not possible to add a view reference, or a tag etc. to reference to a camera view.
Of course I can put in a 'dead' symbol to show where it is in plans, but that's simply not the same...
I am working with a seris of 3d views that I want o make bigger. How can I do this.
I want to keep the view the same but changed the "scale" of the view/perspective
I have a sheet with views on it. For some reason I can't select one of the views. I can't activate it. And the view title is gone. I can go to the browser and find it under the sheet and then go to open.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving been on Revit for more than 8 years there's nothing more difficult to explain to a new user than how the View Range functions. It's one of the first features one must deal with with Revit and yet it can yield illogical results without proper use. The #1 youtube video on Revit's View Range is 20 MINUTES long! Here's my top reasons why View Range is illogical:
1. It does not behave like the "view range" of all other Revit view types. Sections, Elevations, 3d views are all based on a simple concept, a direction, and a 3 dimensional bounding box. With floor plans, elements can appear (or not appear) in a floor plan that is clearly cut so that they shouldn't if the user doesn't understand the rules (and there are lots).
2. It has "Additional View Range Rules" (or exceptions to logic), 7 in fact, which takes Revit Wiki over a page to describe. Each rule is complicated and very situational. No other Revit view types have exceptions. Why floor plans need to have special exceptions is absurd and political. These exceptions must also slow down regeration time of the model since it must process different groups of elements individually to determine their view state in the floor plan.
3. Modern architecture does not adhere to simple boxy shapes and user's need to trust that their view range is actually cutting the surface as they see it. No exceptions or special rules.
4. View Range has a Top and a Cutting Plane elevation. It is completely illogical for any element to appear above the cutting plane. This can easily lead to misinterpretation of 2d drawings because some elements may not appear in section even though they are above the cutting plane. Views should have a cutting plane, direction (up or down in this case) and a depth. Simple, just like all other Revit views.
5. The View Depth "range" is rarely used effectively. The only practical use is to show low roofs of buildings with higher roofs, or possibly foundation elements. Scope boxes or Underlays can accomplish this task much simpler. All the additional line-styles that accompany View Depths are just unnecessary and add more things for the user to manage. It's time to kill View Depth.
It's in Autodesk's best interest to make Revit a user-friendly application. This is one area that needs attention. Keep Revit easy to use without having to watch a 20 minute video.
When you are viewing the desktop, the view is available in the library and you can see which folder you are viewing. But when you have the player open the view icon disappears.

We are running 2012 and like the look of the older versions. We are using the Autocad Classic workspace, BUT the Project Browser and all that jazz is missing. Where or how do i get it back?
We are working together with another firm here in town. The are doing the road and we are doing the utilities. They have established the alignments and profiles. When I import them all the data comes in. For whatever reason I do not have their profile views so I create my own profile view and put their profiles in them.
When they send an updated .xml file of all the alignments and profiles, they import okay but my profile views disappear. I assume it's because in their .xml file that I import, there are no profile view defined.
Is there an options when you export and alignment to an .xml file that you can include the profile views with it as well? This way when I import them I would get them.
I placed walls at 12'0" elevation as they wereconflicting with walls below (overlap). I can't see them in plan view - In 3D iso view they are visible.

Why am i seeing all black when i rendered my southwest or southeast view, without setting up a camera. But other ppl of my peeps r seeing in colour and materails. Also, my other problem is when i put on realistic view, i m seeing grey-ish blocks instead of "real" materials. In my previous assignment, I did see the "Real" materials when i set it on realistic view. However i did try to reset to default for my realistic veiw, but still it did not seem to be working.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a couple of models (all using the same "stage" for rendering) and I split the models up into their own separate dwgs but retaining the stage area for each. What I'm having an issue with is rendering the current view in model space. What's happening is that I'll either get an all black (meaning nothing was rendered) or I'll get a rendered piece of the stage where a model once was set up, but not the current view for which I want (where the model is set now). So basically, the rendered view is pointing somewhere else. I'm not setting any of the camera views however to render; I've been using just the current view so I can get exactly what I want. I just need to figure out "how" to get it to render what I'm seeing on screen (consistently) and not something off to the side, or a shot of the wall or floor, or the old location of previous renders, etc. Sometimes switching back to 2D wire frame will fix the problem, but now it's not. I've tried setting the camera view current and that isn't working either. It still renders what was an "old" rendered view--like it's stuck in memory. Closing and re-opening CAD doesn't fix the issue. This is very frustrating. All I'm trying to get is a WYSIWYG rendered view.

Edit an image file and get it to where I like on the monitor.Duplicate the file and set the new file to the profile for the printer which will be used, by using View > Proof Setup > Custom and setting an imported printer profile for the printing company that I use.
Edit the soft proof file to get it to where it looks good again. Save off the file for the printer and also save the new PSD file.
Close the PSD file.Reopen the new (soft proofed) PSD file.Still looks good, but.... when you check View > Proof Setup it's now generally set to Custom: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 instead of to the imported printer profile which was set previously. WHY???? Where did the printer profile go? Is it supposed to do this?
If I then reset View > Proof Setup to the correct printer profile, the image goes to crap again.
LR4.4 Does not render some images (dng) in Loupe view but renders OK in Develop view.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on a home where i need to have a single slanted roof go across the perimeter of the home to form a roof. But, i have run into the issue of not being able to connect the circled area(see attached) Is it possible to connect those separate roofs and if so how?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have noticed this as an occasional random ongoing problem in Lightroom and just encountered it again in LR 5, running on Win 7 64 on a 30" 2560x1600 monitor. While the develop view renders properly, the louple view is very soft. Here is an example:
1:1 from Develop
1:1 from loupe
There is no indication that you need to wait for the final rendering and the image never gets sharper. Zooming in and out does not fix the rendering in loupe view. Resizing the lightroom window to a smaller size does not work. Rebuilding 1:1 previews does not work.
The only thing that works is to close and reopen Lightroom. It appears that some flag in the program instructing the loupe rerender sometimes does not get set.
This is a serious problem because a user could easily decide to delete an image based on the loupe view. This has forced me to preview all my images in PhotoMechanic. I simply cannot rely on Lightroom.
This is a difficult problem to reproduce as it seems to happen randomly. In a search and based on recollection, the zoom in and out seemed to fix.
I need a fresh way to render masses of trees in plan view.

View 1 Replies View Relatedis it possible to render an animation in realistic view with Raytracing switched on?
In the view i have a realistic view, but when i do "render animation" the pictures are rendered without Raytrace.
I've been tethering to Capture One with a Phase Back then having Lightroom Autoimport the files which works well. The biggest problem I have is that when I want to check focus as I go along and I zoom in on the files in loupe view Lightroom is really slow at rendering up the image. It seems to get slower as the catalogue fills up until it just wont do it. Then if I quit Lightroom and restart its better for a while then slows down again.
Both applications are running on the same Macbook Pro with The latest OSX.
However looking through the files in Capture One they zoom up in size with hardly any delay. I understand that Lightroom has to render a larger preview which is taking the time but surely Capture One has to do this too but doesn't seem to need to take anywhere near as much time to do it. In the case of Capture One it seems to be able to zoom into files that it hasn't previously loaded so there must not be a pre existing preview there.
How do you get the roof soffit to have the same rafter cut as the roof?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm creating 3D architectural models; primarily interior views. I use the ANIPATH command quite frequently and I'm good there.
However, I have not been able to render a still camera view that shows the lighting and resultant shadows. Whenever I attempt to render a still from a particular camera; I set it to realistic. It shows the 3D objects with materials; however not the lighting.
I've been using ACAD for about 15 years now, and consider my skill level upper-intermediate.
So far, the only successful still renderings I've been able to do are those directly associated with the typical ortho views: i.e., NE, NW, SE, SW, front, back, etc. But no avail on rendering from the camera point of view.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if after drawing an alignment, creating a profile, and profile view, is there a way I can mark items along the alignment so they could show up in the profile view. I am laying out a pipeline and want to have the profile display a marker for items such as tees, elbows, reducers and other items. The marker I would like to use will be something like the vertical style grade break markers.
Also on a side note, as each of these items will have a different name, is there a way that I can add these markers and then have each one with a unique name?
