In the REVIT 2012 Basic Sample Project, the 3d view site has sides or an apron which conceals the building foundations and gives the site some mass. I have included an attachment with a 3D exterior view of the sample project and a project with a "Sideless" site. how the sides in the basic sample project are achived?
View 8 RepliesI'm trying to create a titleblock family that has an image or dwg of my site. The easy way to do this is save a new family and import a cad file or jpg of the site plan.
However, I'd like to avoid creating a new titleblock family for each project with a new imported site image.
I thought I would be able to just make the image's "Loaded from file" address an editable field that could be updated in the project info like all the other parameters, but it doesn't seem to be possible.
What is the preferred method for getting a chainlike fence to follow the contours on a topo object?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to control topography triangulation in Revit 2013? I did number of surfaces in Civil 3D and when I brought them as a contour lines in Revit I got not very correct surface.
I wonder how Revit could deal with complicated grading if even simple one is wrong.
I added some polylines for site but it didn't work. Revit tends to smooth, smooth too much I would say. It gave up only when I added extra points within footprint.
So, I've made topography, cut it with building pad, and have those sides between topography and building pad, which I want to paint or attach material to (see picture). And can't find tool to do it. Blue arrow points surface to be painted, but I don't want to change surface pointed by red arrow.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRevit 2012 .I have a topo file linked to the main building file.I am trying to render a 3d exterior view of the building (new construction ).I see the linked topography in black lines in my elevations.but not in the 3d view.
The question/ problem unsolved is how to get the site/ ground to be visible as per the linked topography in the 3d view of the main file . All I see is the building in the air , with a very light greyed site in a block form. I would like to see the site in earth: soil material for me to render the exterior view.
Is there a quick way of profiling topography under a undulating concrete floor slab? In other words so that the topography follows the underside surface of the slab. I know this is possible by adjusting each point on the topo surface but is there a quicker way?

I've just started a new project. I've imported a survey done in AutoCAD and converted it to a Topo surface.
The surface appears in two of the Elevations (East and North), but not the other two. I have two empty views. I've turned off Crop View. When I did this and a Z A, I was able to find the East and North elevations and move the views over to them. However, I can't find the elevations in the other views.
I am wondering why my site will not render the grass on my topo surface? (it just renders grey...)I have checked my materials, view/element properties, and visibility/graphics.

I have toposurface happening in both the existing and new construction phases, and have modified the new construction one.
I can get it to show the existing and new ground levels in section view when I change the phase filter, but I can't seem to be able to change the hatching to represent cut and fill. I even tried detailing it in, however I can't seem to get lines to snap to the section cut toposurface.
I was working on a project adding topography and trees when revit crashed. I saved a recovery file which i then opened and saved over the old file. what I hadn't noticed was the the defaut site view in the project browser had gone missing. how to recover this view / plan which shows the topography, origin point and survey points etc?

I'm having an issue with JPG attachments. In this case, we are attaching a reference civil site plan drawing. The image correctly appears in the sheet, and even in the "preview" window while exporting to DWF. However, the DWF file does not show the image. Is this a hidden export setting or a view setting in Design Review?

I have the line art I want to use, I inverted it so its white on black, and after I use the Gaussian Blur I go to color curve. There is no Alpha selection and when I simply try to open the Alpha to Logo no options are available.

I am using CorelDraw (X6) for a long time now. But I still found no way to create a border around my whole site without being interrupted by this border. I want the border to be in foreground so that images and colored rectangulars can overlap a little. So when I put it in the foreground I cannot select the other object behind it.I cannot select other rectangulars by clicking on their filling/background but only by clicking exactly on their border.

I have a number of Sites in my drawing. I want to be able to set a Site current (in LISP) so that when you create or draw a feature line, the site is set to the desired value. I haven't seen a variable or setting for this.
how to use Civil 3D to create a grading plan for a solar PV site or a golf course?
Here is the situation. We have a large 100 acre site that is not flat. We want to do minimal grading to "smooth out the surface". So that maximum slope on the site is 10%. The site does not have to be graded completely flat. We are trying to work with the existing contours and terrain as much as possible.
Is there some functiion or some way for Civil 3D to "smooth out a surface"? We want to work with the existing slopes and contours of the site and just need a grading plan that will smooth out mounds, holes, or high slope areas.
If there are any places to get topography symbols, I got hired to draw a topography map of a mining area for a client and I am in Desperate need of good quality aerial mountains, trees, dirt, etc. Like you would see on a topography map.

I have a plat map that I used topopgraphy to create polygons of all the lots. Each lot has a lot number created as text (not mtext or a block) on a layer that is separate from the layer with the polygons. I need to export the polygons as a shapefile and be able to access them in reference to their lot number. This information should be included with the .dbf file. I can export the lot polygons as a shapefile but the lot numbers are not included. I suspect that I need to do something with getting the centroid to include the lot number text (which I was not able to do successfully.) And then include that with the polygon/data export.
I need to create a 3d terrain solid from dwg nivel curves (contours). I tried with loft command but the lines are too detailed and my pc takes a eternity to loft just 2 lines and i have a lot of it.don't create a extensive 3d file?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a permit where I need to display topographic contours, but have different maj/min intervals depending on the slope of the topography. To me, this seems a little strange and makes for misleading information, but it's what the permit requires.
I'm covering a roughly 5000 x 5000 sq ft area with a partially built landfill on it and a rather changing surrounding topography.
