How do you change the direction of a model hatch that is seen in 3D view?
I want to change the pattern of wood planking that goes horizontally to go vertically (in plan view).
Is it possible to get the wall fill pattern to show up in plan view but not in a specific section view? I tried the detail levels, Course, medium, fine, and of course the hatch pattern doesn't show up in course, but then the wall components don't show up either.
I am in a section view where i want to show a repeated cmu detail component up the wall as part of a detail, but then the hatch pattern is displayed behind it. I don't want to remove the hatch pattern entirely because I still want it to be displayed in the plan view.
I have a drawing of a stone railing section and I have to change direction in the run direction of the baluster panel. Is there a way that I can move the details without changing th Y direction of the details. Please refer to the attached CAD file for details. I am trying to avoid having to redesign the panels if possible. railing detail.dwg
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having a very strange issue that appears in the Materials editor within Revit 2013 Update Release 3. If I change a surface or cut hatch pattern within the editor, and then attempt to close out of the editor, go to a different material, or apply the change, the hatch dialog pops right back up again, as if I never closed it. I have found two ways to get out of this obnoxious loop:
1. Use the 'esc' key to back out of the materials dialog (unfortunately no changes are saved).
2. Change the color of the hatch - this allows for the changes to be applied etc.
I've tried resetting the UI and reinstalling Revit to no avail.
I am doing a five stories building and when ad the structural column with concrete cast in place material, the representation in plan view does not cover the block hatch of the wall. See attached image. I have read all about structural columns and did not find any solution.

I have created a big and complex Revit model, in Revit 2013. It's now time for me to print the sheets - I want them in PDF and DWF. But I really have some problems doing that. When I print to PDF it takes about 20 minutes for it to print 1 drawing - and it will not be complete - elements are missing compared to the original view. Often Revit stops working - and it's the same story when I try to save a DWF.
I think the reason why I have the problem is because of the complexity of the building's geometry. Have modeled it by importing SAT. files from Rhino - to create the form. The result is great but the file is now 370 Mb. I'm trying to link the model in to a new Revit project to minimize the file, and hopefully get the drawings printed in PDF and DWF. In the the new project I can't see the sheets from the linked file though.
Is there a way to link the sheets to another procjet?
I have an issue with a view. I am unable to select my model groups with in a specific view. When I go to select a group all that is selected is an item in that group, not the entire group. There must be a setting that is turned off, as other views I can grab entire groups. Currently I have to open a 3-D view and select the group I wish to edit or change, instead of being able to select that same group on the 5th floor of my building. ( I can select the same group on the 4th floor, but I don't see any diference between the two floors?)
We are using Revit 2012
Some time ago, I used Adobe Reader (the basic one) to view and rotate a 3D model from Autocad. Yes, I know that I can export a Revit model into a DWFX and view it in Design Review, but that requires a ferr Design Review download. Some clients don't have administrator rights, are too lazy, don't have the computer savy to install, etc..., so a PDF 3D model would be nice.

I have Adobe X Pro where I can enable this if Revit and CAD have the ability to print a 3D PDF.
In Revit 2013 - Some elements are displaying as transparent in the 3D Shaded view. All the glass elements are showing through solid parts of the model in 3D shaded view. See the attached image.
View 3 Replies View RelatedCIvil 3D 2013 / My drawing opens in layout view and all model objects are appropriately coloured by layer. If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.

This guardrail extension is an example of where I would have liked to change the work plane while sketching the path because the path shifted planes. I believe you can do this in the family editor, but I could not get it to work in the in-place modeler. What I ended up doing (as an experiment) was to create masses and picked their edges to get the path I wanted. I would love to be able to have more control over the work plane, like defining the workplane by a face and then being able to move it relative to the face selected.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a hatch (ANSI31) enclosed by a closed polyline. Whenever I change the hatch from ANSI31 to GRAVEL some of the hatch shows up outside the boundary. The Polyline consists of both arcs and line segments, and the hatching errors are occurring within the radius of the arc segments. Changing it from Associative to Non Associative makes no change.
I am using AutoCAD 2011.
We have a problem in some of our views (mostly dependent views), Central file.We place normal annotation text (not littera) and everything looks fine.
Then it happens, random can take days, and noone tuch the views nor the text style, that the text duplicate itself up to 1-4 times, and also change its location on the view.(The text don't lie on each other, but spread around the view, but keeps the condition in location to each other from the origin texts that was placed)
When we have encounter this we have deleted the copys and placed the text right again and then it works for a while...everything repeats itself, and in the end (random timeflow) the text deletes itself completely.
So I just switched to Autocad 2013 Mac from an old XP version, and I'm having some serious difficulty just starting a basic drawing. When I open up a new drawing my model space has a very limited size. It's roughly 200 units in any direction, in any from of measurement (inches, cm, etc). I've tried changes the Limits to very large ones, but that had no effect, and I've tried turning limits off. Also no luck. Basically, if i try to draw a line or anything that is bigger than what my model space is confined to, the line goes off the screen, and it wont let me scroll or zoom out to find the end of it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a command to display the bend information in the model Flat pattern. We do not always create a Idw for parts that we have special dies to form. This creates a problem though if the flat pattern bends are the wrong direction because then it is lasered with the bad side of the material to the outside of the part. The only way to know the bend direction is to create a view on an idw just to check this.
I want to open the flat pattern in the ipt and invoke a command to display the bend information on the screen. Need getting a collection of the bend lines in the flat pattern?
In Revit, how can I stretch a building in one direction, including all floors, in either plan or elevation? Let's say a wing of a 3-story building is 20' long, and I want to make it 24' long.
In ACAD, there is the stretch command that uses a fence.
Granted I would have to use stretch on each plan & elevation drawing, but all elements within the fence are sretched.
Do I have to move a grid, and hope that I've locked all walls on all floors to that grid so they move when the grid is moved?
I made a half section view and it cuts what's above the plane of section in the Z direction, i mean all that's above this plane.
I want it to cut everything that's underneath, below the plane, at my choice, so i can inspect everything what is above the plane of section.
I'm placing lighting fixtures in an RCP, and after I place the light and select it, I only get temp dims in the vertical direction on screen, not the horizontal. Before I click to locate the object, the temp dims in both directions show up, but as soon as I click to place, only one tmep dim shows up.
If I place an aligned dimension from a wall face to the center of the light, and then selct the light, the dimension is not activated to adjust the distance. If I want to move the light, I have to drag it - I cannot input the distance into the dimension.
This makes trying to center a light in a room, or a set distance froma wall, next to impossible and extremely annoying and ecessively time comsuming.
Can you show the direction of swing in the door schedule?

Short of starting from scratch, is there a way to change the hinge side? Some restrooms have the hinge on the right side and others on the left. I'd like to be able to change this via a parameter. If I could figure out how, I'd add the param to the family. URL>...
Let’s say you have a large building plan in model space but there is only one small area of the building that the view port is looking at. Is there a way that you can draw around that viewport and then take that into model space and paste it in the same place so now you have the same area located in both views?
At the moment I need to try and work out where the view is by drawing a rectangle around the correct area of the building and this is time consuming.
I could then trim/delete everything else outside that box.
When I have placed dimensions in model space with a text height of 2.5 now do I get them to a readable size in paper space
View 9 Replies View RelatedAny way to move objects in vertical direction (z-axis) in 3d views, without having to turn the view everytime to be of frontal direction. I would like to move entire objects - for example mass objects - up or down directly in a 3d view of random orientation, now only top- or bottom face can be moved vertically, the whole object moves only on xy -plane. Can vertical movement of an object be done intuitively graphically and/or can it be be numerically, feeding coordinates?
Have tried all sources, but cannot find solution, and refuse to believe that Revit would be the only 3d/bim software on planet where direct vertical manipulation of objects is not possible.
If I have a layer on top of another layer or say I have a custom tool shape on a page, how do I select it to change the direction is it facing. I don't want to use the roate canvas selection. I know in the past I was able to do something like alt and click the shape or image to change its direction.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe characters of a word in Hebrew need to reverse their text direction despite the font being Adobe Hebrew which you would expect to be in the correct direction. However this text was copied in from Word.
I can't locate the menu option, e.g. Window>Type>Paragraph fails to show any RTL option. That the text is selected seems indicated by the bar at the top of the screen showing point size etc.
When I zoom in or zoom out the model, normally the dimension will follow the model too.But now in Autocad 2013, even the model size change, the dimension still remain unchange. why? Is there any setting I miss out? URL....
