Revit :: Windows / Doors Cut / Join With Floors?

Apr 19, 2012

My floor structure has a finish layer of carpet that's a 1/2" thick.  When I build this however, my doors and full height windows won't go down to the carpet, they'll go down to the sheathing and the carpet will cut in around it all.  So how do I get my carpet to cut itself out of the way of my doors/ windows like it does with my walls?  Take a look at the pic (sans walls) to see the carpet intersecting with my frames.

Revit :: Sloped Floors - Join With Horizontal And Put Stairs

Mar 22, 2013

I have a situation of one sloped floor connecting two horizontal floors. They build together a continuous surface.

I need to join them and have the layers be continuous along the structure. If they were roofs, no problem, I could use the "roof by extrusion" command.

Should I do that? If I try to use floors.....

When I model them as three separate floors, and then Join them, it doesn't work. meaning that the layers within the floor don't match (well, they can't, in fact! I have to move the floor behind!)

If I model one single floor and then add split lines, and move them... it does work. BUT..... I have a stairs on top of it! the stairs have a different slope than the floor, and i need to build a variable layer that fills the void between the floor and the stairs.

So my hypothesis was: I put a sloped floor through the slope arrow... and then adjust one variable layer to do the inflill...

My dream would be to join then floor and stairs.... The material is the same

Revit :: Floors Not Being Cut In Sections?

Jan 11, 2013

We just upgraded a project from 2012 to 2013. After upgrading, there are two floors which do not show up as cut in any sections (they displayed correctly in 2012). The two floors in question appear in the section, but not as cut elements (no cut pattern) and it is showing edges of the floor that should be well behind where the section is cut. One floor is 8" concrete and has been made to slope using the modify sub elements command. The other floor is a variable thickness floor modified in the same way to be the earth below the concrete floor since the topo is not nimble enough to follow the shape of the concrete floor.

I tried remodelling the floors. No luck.

I can model it in a separate file, cut sections in that file and have it display correctly. If I insert or paste that into the main model, it goes back to displaying incorrectly.

Our structural engineer had copied the lake floor into their model which is linked into ours, so I deleted the lake floors in the structural model, reloaded it and then remodeled the floors again. And it worked... in only one of the dozens of sections that show the lake floors! So that's one more than before...

In one of the attached images you can see the sloping lake floor and the earth floor below it as it should appear and in the other image you see them both in elevation rather than section. The 3d image shows the lake floor and the surrounding "earth floors". The center of the lake floor is 7'-0" below the outermost perimeter of the floor.

How can I add a surface to individual floors on the same level? Ex. Carpet in living room, Tile in Bathroom.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Doors / Windows And Openings Fail To Display In 3d Model?

Mar 6, 2012

Okay so to start with I have a building with 2 staircores. Everything is drawn in 3d and I have drawn the 2 staircores as elements and subsequently Xrefed these elements into the relevant constructs and subsequently a 3D model view.

When I view the elements as a live drawing (ie. when I open the individual elements) the drawing views okay in plan and in 3D wireframe, hidden mode etc... no problem so far!

When the drawing is Xrefed into a construct and subsequently a 3D model all of the windows and doors disappear... but in 3d only - ie. viewed in plan mode they are fine. I have checked the display configurations in the constructs and views and they are all set to display these objects in the medium detail and high detail for the model and plan modes.

In 3d wireframe mode the windows and doors can be seen within the wall but the opening which they should create is non-existent!This occurs in teh construct and view drawings.

Here's the catch.... I have a 'West Staircore' and and 'East Staircore'. Both are drawn as individual elements. The West staircore is giving trouble, but the East is perfect. They were both set up using the same DWT file which means that the default display configuration settings should be identical. This is backed up by the fact that they view correctly in the live element drawings.

When they are both Xrefed into the same construct, one is fine and the other will not display in the 3D model!

Revit :: Vertical Reveals With Doors

I need to model a wall in plan which has a section that is inset on one side.  The inset having beveled faces.  I have achieved this using a vertical wall reveal with a profile to suit the shape of the inset.  This works very well until I place a door in the centre of the wall where the reveal has reduced its width, the reveal disappearing and the door appearing in a full width wall.

Does this mean that a reveal cannot be used in this way and that I should find another way of modelling the reduced width wall? See drawings below:

Revit :: Nesting Families - Putting Various Doors Together?

May 24, 2013

I'm putting various doors together, and we have a variety of frame types / door leaf combinations - including occasions where door leafs are inserted in glazed screens (These are timber doors / screens).

It seems to make sense to have the door leaf as a family, then nest those into hosted door frame / screen family. This would allow the 3 or 4 different door leaf types to be switched into the frame / screen combos.

The principal seems to work - but before embarking on the process of putting these together, are there any consequences that should deter me, or that I need to take into consideration ?

Revit :: Delete Mystery Doors In Groups

The issue I'm having now is that one of these groups has a couple doors in it that once existed in the design and are now no longer necessary.  However, they were deleted at some point, but still exist when I highlight over the group (the first attachment shows an overlapping door highlighted in red and the purple location has a set of double doors--see second attachment).  No amount of tabbing will allow me to delete them and I can't ungroup them.  Do I need to just start over with a similar group?  Or can I somehow find these doors and delete them?

They show up in the 3d views, sections, and second floor plan, but not in the first. I have checked the visibilty settings, and they are all checked and correct, and I have checked the height of my floor cut, which is adequately at 4 feet high. Additionally, if I make the detail level "fine" then the casings will show up around the wall but the wall will not show the door cut. The doors show up in a previous version of the model, so I'm not sure what has happened to cause the dissapearance.
