I am trying to create a sheet of floor plans that does not show the next floor down on each floor plan but I can't seem to find out how to do it. My lecturer said it made the floor plans 'confusing and difficult to read' but other than photoshopping them out or something I'm stuck See attachments for exactly what I mean. View 2 RepliesWe just upgraded a project from 2012 to 2013. After upgrading, there are two floors which do not show up as cut in any sections (they displayed correctly in 2012). The two floors in question appear in the section, but not as cut elements (no cut pattern) and it is showing edges of the floor that should be well behind where the section is cut. One floor is 8" concrete and has been made to slope using the modify sub elements command. The other floor is a variable thickness floor modified in the same way to be the earth below the concrete floor since the topo is not nimble enough to follow the shape of the concrete floor.
I tried remodelling the floors. No luck.
I can model it in a separate file, cut sections in that file and have it display correctly. If I insert or paste that into the main model, it goes back to displaying incorrectly.
Our structural engineer had copied the lake floor into their model which is linked into ours, so I deleted the lake floors in the structural model, reloaded it and then remodeled the floors again. And it worked... in only one of the dozens of sections that show the lake floors! So that's one more than before...
In one of the attached images you can see the sloping lake floor and the earth floor below it as it should appear and in the other image you see them both in elevation rather than section. The 3d image shows the lake floor and the surrounding "earth floors". The center of the lake floor is 7'-0" below the outermost perimeter of the floor.
I am trying to figure out how to see the first floor in a five floor building. This model is a 3D Cad file imported into Revit. I need to look inside the building and place equipment on the first floor.

Why is it that when I change one floor's surface (tile,carpet, ect.) and then make a seperate floor on the same floor but with a different surface, it changes BOTH floors like they are instances of each other?
How can I add a surface to individual floors on the same level? Ex. Carpet in living room, Tile in Bathroom.
My REVIT 2013 is crashing my PC when I click on 'Finish' after editing a floor. Whilst the file is only 38MB I have the horrible feeling that these fatal error happenings may be due to a system shortfall on my machine rather than a software malfunction. I have a Pentium 4 MicroATX M/B 3.0Ghz CPU with 4GB RAM, running on Windows 7 Professional (64bit).
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy floor structure has a finish layer of carpet that's a 1/2" thick. When I build this however, my doors and full height windows won't go down to the carpet, they'll go down to the sheathing and the carpet will cut in around it all. So how do I get my carpet to cut itself out of the way of my doors/ windows like it does with my walls? Take a look at the pic (sans walls) to see the carpet intersecting with my frames.

But I would want to display each usage in a different color, to show my client how I am organizing the building. Is this possible? Mass floors seems not to have a color or material property.
I have an issue with a label family made to represent the room dimensions. When inserted in a room with the floor without slope, the family works fine, but when inserted on a space with the floor modified for slope porpouse the family is not visible. Does the floor slope modify the visibility of the family? See the attached image, where the shower has the floor modified and the family is not visible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a model with multiple floors. When I am in Level 2, with Level 1 as an Underlay I can still edit walls and other objects from Level 1. I know there is a way to lock the Underlay, I just can't make it work. Pinning the entire Level 1 is not an options, because this is not View dependent.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a situation of one sloped floor connecting two horizontal floors. They build together a continuous surface.
I need to join them and have the layers be continuous along the structure. If they were roofs, no problem, I could use the "roof by extrusion" command.
Should I do that? If I try to use floors.....
When I model them as three separate floors, and then Join them, it doesn't work. meaning that the layers within the floor don't match (well, they can't, in fact! I have to move the floor behind!)
If I model one single floor and then add split lines, and move them... it does work. BUT..... I have a stairs on top of it! the stairs have a different slope than the floor, and i need to build a variable layer that fills the void between the floor and the stairs.
So my hypothesis was: I put a sloped floor through the slope arrow... and then adjust one variable layer to do the inflill...
My dream would be to join then floor and stairs.... The material is the same
What Revit 2012 setting makes walls and floors disappear when rendering is selected?
I have a Revit 8.1 project that renderes the model just fine. When I import it into Revit 2010 it also remders the model but I have to reassign the custom finishes. But when I upgrade it to 2012 and render - the walls and floors are suddenly missing!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an interior amphiteather with stepped concrete steps and a bottom lower slab, which are recessed and below the ground floor level of 0'-0".
Before adding the topography to the job, the steps layout and the lower salb showed on plan, but since adding the topography, the lower steps and the lower slab do not show. Cutting a section thru the amphiteather, the earth is seem to be above the lower steps and the lower slab.
How can I modify the earth in this interior area of thh building so the earth (and topography) is below the concrete steps and the lower slab? (so these recessed concrete floor elements could be seen in the plan of the building)
Joining roofs.
I'm trying to join two roofs together by extending onto the other - Unfortunately the one to be extended is higher than the other roof (see attached image).
Both roofs are created by footprint.

I am using Revit Architecture 2012 and I am having some issues with plan regions. I am not able to get my stairs to show up sometimes and I cannot figure out why. I have attached 2 images of my drawing to show the issue. The 2 floors in this image are a basement and lower level. I am on the basement level and the plan region cut plane is set to lower level and it is cut @ 4'. The top is lower level @ 7'-6" and the bottom and view depth are on basement @0'-0". If I turn the underlay on to show the lower level the stairs show up.

I have duplicated many floors now in the Revit program and applied the same material to them and no matter what I end up with a duplicate area for that material in the floor material schedule takeoff.
Steps taken to correct this so far are:
1. Technical support @ Autodesk suggested that I uncheck the wrap part in the floor edit. The floor already has it unchecked and furthermore the wrap part is greyed out.
2. I have used parts and I guess that I can do this for it works. it is just that I would like to do floors because I don't have to spend time dividing them for a simple material takeoff.
I just want to be able to apply a material to a floor and have that floor shedule the area of that material only ONCE!
The issue is cutting an opening in an existing floor so that in only shows in a new phase.I have created a floor based generic family with an opening tool and added an edge liner as a sweep. It hosts onto the floor and cuts it OK (in section and 3D). BUT in plan view objects below dont show through - see blue dashed on the screen clip. You will see that the red dotted opening>vertical cut show the stair below OK. Have a go (floor opening lined.rfa) and tell me why the opening is opaque!

(Now done by using the function "Top Extension Distance" for the finish layer.)I am searching for a solution that allows me to change the shape of the floor. View 2 Replies View RelatedI imported a scanned drawing into Revit and traced it. I put the walls and floors in, then was inserting doors. I tried to find a particular door, but found I clicked on the wrong door and closed Revit instead of the screen I was in. However, when I brought Revit back up, I could no longer see any Floorplan, but my 3d was still visible. How do I retrieve or make visible Level 1 or 2? (When I tile the Floorplan Level 1 and the 3D drawing, my 3d drawing will turn blue if I box in the blank area on my Floorplan screen, so I assume it must still be there).
The other question I need answered is how to insert the geometric figure/camera that shows each side of an elevation? When I imported my scanned drawing, it was much larger than the area within the four “eyeballs”, but I have tried moving it and don’t see them.
I have a file that I have applied different floor finishes to different rooms based on flooring patterns and hatches - they are not visible in the floor plans . Funny thing is if I make a seperate room outside the project in the same view and assign it flooring patterns - it does show up all the floor finishes. The only reason I can think of is phases. I have attached images for reference.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf you already have your main floor created in a Revit LT model and you later decide you'd loke to add a small addition to that same floor, not as an addition, but simply as a revised floor plan that expands the previous area, can you just draw another floor area and will that blend into the 1st main floor? Or do you have to redraw the whole floor? Or join the 2 pieces?

I can't figure out why the bas is visible through the floor :s while the middle part is not. The part where you can see the color of the stairs is cut out of the floor.
I'm trying to create a custom floor tile but having issues doing it. 1st I create a generic 12' create floor, then use that floor to create a subfloor to try to create a tiled floor that is offset 1/4" from the initial floor. I select the floor, click edit material, select ceramic tile,.. get to the graphics property, select surface pattern and select 12" tile, click done, then OK but ... nothing happens.
I would also like to customize a pattern. I would like to create a patter that uses a 12"X12" tile with (2) 5 7/8"X5 7/8" tiles.
I tried to use the *.PAT technique but finding it difficult to do what I want so I found the hatch22 but still find that rather difficult.
I have a multi-story model with "Existing" and "New Construction" phases present on each level. The graphic overrides are functioning properly on the 1st Floor (existing is displayed in lighter line weight and half-tone) but for some reason the overrides are not applying to the 2nd Floor.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently modeling a 2-Story Home. I have everything modeled the way I want it, but when I go to the elevations I see a gap where the siding and the sheathing don't touch between floors.
My exterior walls:

The floors are modeled to the stud to allow sheathing and siding to extend. I knew of this situation beforehand because tutorials on the interwebs say this is the way to combat your problem:
I go into the my exterior wall, select edit type, edit structure, (set preview to section) select siding, and then zoom in on the bottom of the wall in the section preview. The bottom of the siding highlights and a "unlock" toggle appears. I unlock it. I do the same to the sheathing. Then I go to my elevations, cut a section, and zoom in to extend the sheathing and siding.
Side Bar: Why don't the two extend independently? They should.

But once I placed it in the project, it only shows the top mullion, I had to delete the top mullion within the family to make the plan view look right. What's the reason of it?
