Revit :: One Schedule For Materials And Doors / Windows?
Dec 19, 2011Is there a way to have one schedule to tabulate the materials (by area, volume and length) as well as windows and doors (by pieces)?

View 1 RepliesThere are several i-drop items in a doors catalogue, having selected three for a tools pallette, one item is a 2 panelled door, a regular fitting, some infills are glass, so how to assign materials?
The principal panels do not list in Object Display, seem to be 'untouchables' while outter frame, stops, muntins can be assigned hardwood or softwood finishes. How to change a plain yellow object into a regular door, with or without glass?
I am having a little trouble with some doors showing up on the level 1 door schedule that are actually on level 2. They are curtain wall doors.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to make a true cut in windows or doors. Sometimes windows or doors needs different presentation in different levels. I can do this by changing the door or window family to a generic model family but why can i not do this in the door/window family?
(too the left generic model family and to the right the door family)
how to change the dimensions of the doors and windows in revit 2013 when i select the door ,, the door dimensions are in like M_single-flush 08153/2134 mm etc but my college project is having the dimensions in inches
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy floor structure has a finish layer of carpet that's a 1/2" thick. When I build this however, my doors and full height windows won't go down to the carpet, they'll go down to the sheathing and the carpet will cut in around it all. So how do I get my carpet to cut itself out of the way of my doors/ windows like it does with my walls? Take a look at the pic (sans walls) to see the carpet intersecting with my frames.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to use the Window Schedule to create many windows at once? For example we have a Excel spreadsheet that describes a window on each row. The columns specify the x, y, z, width, height, type, etc.
15, 10, 1, 1.3, 1.5, M_Fixed
1, 10, 1, 1.3, 1.5, M_Fixed
15, 1, 1, 1.3, 1.5, M_Fixed
If we paste this information into a Schedule with the same columns will it automatically create these windows with the correct properties(position, dimensions, type, etc.)?Also would it be possible to do the same with other elements such as Pipes and Pits? How would we specify the family for these elements?
I don't recall changing any features in AutoCAD 2013 that would take away my ability to type in the distance that I would like to place doors or windows along my walls, but now that it has been disabled and I don't have it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have designed a the interior walls of a building in Vectorworks. I didn't use the wall tool, no symbols and all the 'walls' have a solid fill.
Once i've imported the dwg/dxf file into 3ds Max I cannot insert simple doors or windows properly. They don't cut through the walls and i cannot place them accurately despite having snaps on.
We have a house plan that has windows and doors of different types anchored to their walls. It seems that whenever someone is working in a file from the network that has the plan xrefed into it and the plan is opened to be modified by another user the windows and doors randomly detach from the walls. We're getting tired of going back in and reanchoring them.
(We're using Autocad Architecture 2009 on Vista)
i make a lips that draw doors and window in 3d from block in 2d......the problem..It does not work in all autcad¡¡ the same version but different pc.
View 9 Replies View RelatedOkay so to start with I have a building with 2 staircores. Everything is drawn in 3d and I have drawn the 2 staircores as elements and subsequently Xrefed these elements into the relevant constructs and subsequently a 3D model view.
When I view the elements as a live drawing (ie. when I open the individual elements) the drawing views okay in plan and in 3D wireframe, hidden mode etc... no problem so far!
When the drawing is Xrefed into a construct and subsequently a 3D model all of the windows and doors disappear... but in 3d only - ie. viewed in plan mode they are fine. I have checked the display configurations in the constructs and views and they are all set to display these objects in the medium detail and high detail for the model and plan modes.
In 3d wireframe mode the windows and doors can be seen within the wall but the opening which they should create is non-existent!This occurs in teh construct and view drawings.
Here's the catch.... I have a 'West Staircore' and and 'East Staircore'. Both are drawn as individual elements. The West staircore is giving trouble, but the East is perfect. They were both set up using the same DWT file which means that the default display configuration settings should be identical. This is backed up by the fact that they view correctly in the live element drawings.
When they are both Xrefed into the same construct, one is fine and the other will not display in the 3D model!
I am using groups for each type of apartment in the project i am doing, Some groups are mirrored, In my door schedule i added a parameter (instance) for my door orientation (Left or right orientation). The problem is when i note a door ina group as left and the same door in the mirrored apt needs to be right it keeps the same note for each door as it thinks the group in not mirrored.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to model a wall in plan which has a section that is inset on one side. The inset having beveled faces. I have achieved this using a vertical wall reveal with a profile to suit the shape of the inset. This works very well until I place a door in the centre of the wall where the reveal has reduced its width, the reveal disappearing and the door appearing in a full width wall.
Does this mean that a reveal cannot be used in this way and that I should find another way of modelling the reduced width wall? See drawings below:
I am trying to add some storefront doors into my storefront that is already placed. The normal doors work, but I can not load in, any other door types from the "doors" family component library. It will only let me use the type that is already loaded in. It doesnt even give me an error dialogue, just the circle with the slash through it when i click on "Open" to load a door in.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm putting various doors together, and we have a variety of frame types / door leaf combinations - including occasions where door leafs are inserted in glazed screens (These are timber doors / screens).
It seems to make sense to have the door leaf as a family, then nest those into hosted door frame / screen family. This would allow the 3 or 4 different door leaf types to be switched into the frame / screen combos.
The principal seems to work - but before embarking on the process of putting these together, are there any consequences that should deter me, or that I need to take into consideration ?
I have a project containing 4 similar groups, which were mirrored and went through the "Fix Groups" error. I think I made them unique to avoid ungrouping.
The issue I'm having now is that one of these groups has a couple doors in it that once existed in the design and are now no longer necessary. However, they were deleted at some point, but still exist when I highlight over the group (the first attachment shows an overlapping door highlighted in red and the purple location has a set of double doors--see second attachment). No amount of tabbing will allow me to delete them and I can't ungroup them. Do I need to just start over with a similar group? Or can I somehow find these doors and delete them?
Somehow today all the doors and cased openings dissapeared in my first floor plan.
They show up in the 3d views, sections, and second floor plan, but not in the first. I have checked the visibilty settings, and they are all checked and correct, and I have checked the height of my floor cut, which is adequately at 4 feet high. Additionally, if I make the detail level "fine" then the casings will show up around the wall but the wall will not show the door cut. The doors show up in a previous version of the model, so I'm not sure what has happened to cause the dissapearance.
When I try to add a window or door, I get a message: "No doors family is loaded in the project..etc etc" and then I try to go and find a default template file to use which I assume has basic families loaded, I can't find any anywhere. I'm stuck at step 1, already.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn a project I'm working on we have some doors in large accordian room partitions that need to appear in the schedule however they will not be hosted in a wall in our model. The walls are 2d in the CAD background from a consultant. I created a door family that can be placed and scheduled however the "Room #" field does not populate. Is there a way to add that to the family? I believe the issue comes up because the doors are not in a wall that is "Room Bounding" or in a wall at all.

I can't place a door into a storefront wall. I get this error saying something like,"cutting surface doesn't not work" I tried to adjust the mullions so that the door would fit, but it still doesn't work.
Can I demension the interior side of a wall when the wall justification is centerline?
Is there a way to calculate the roof load in revit?
Is there a door family out there that contains double opposing doors. These are very common in healthcare settings and I'm not finding a family to make this work.
