Revit :: DWG On Drafting View
Aug 25, 2013I have a DWG Site Survey already inserted in my project, but need to place it on a Drafting View sheet to further add annotation. How this is done?

I am trying to find out how the drafting pattern origin is determined in Revit 2013. A model pattern is very easy to adjust, but this is not true of a drafting patterns. How the drafting patterns even determine what their origin is. Is it centered on a project extents - therefore changing as the model expands, or is it set by a 0,0,0 origin similar to AutoCAD (but hidden). In an event it does not seem that this origin is adjustable (unless someone out there knows some Revit magic) so perhaps it does not matter, but I would like to know.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a Batt insulation pattern but when i want to load it into my wall structure, it is not visible in my floor plan or in 3D.When i want do load it, i can'!I get a message that Revit doesn't find a drafting pattern but it is!!!
where to find a Batt insulation - drafting pattern?
I would like the pattern to follow the rotation of the component when inserted onto the project. I can achieve it with model pattern but I would like to use drafting pattern because we need to show them on different scales. The diffuser family consists of a detail family in order to show the pattern. The pattern is already set to align with object and it still does not work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am creating wall sections and I want to change the fill pattern from drafting to model so I can minipulate the pattern. I selected a multitude of elements to change from rigid insulation to CMU and all were the same in the fact none could be changed into model pattern. Heres what I did; I slected an element, then went to the Paint Tool selected Surface Patterns, then Pattern, then Fill Patterns but it wont let me choose model.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf it is possible to create proper dimensions for 3D isometric drafting views? In AutoCAD I could set an oblique angle for a dimension but in Revit there is no setting. I can only dimension 3D model views.

I am learning to use Revit 2012 and having a hard time figuring out why basic drafting features don't seem to work with reference planes. Aligning more than a few of these one-at-a-time is time consuming - any way to extend multiple reference plane lines to a boundary line or object? I read your instructions for offsetting reference planes - when I select the reference planes button in the home tab, the options bar allows me to set an offset distance but I am at a loss as to how one goes about getting the line to offset - I keep getting the layout dimension when i try to click on the line!
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have our first project in Revit that we are having to split among multiple sheets because of the size of the building, so I have made 3 dependent views from the main overall view, named them, cropped them and placed each part (A,B, and C) on separate sheets. Now that I am trying to do enlarged toilet plan views, I want to tag the plans with the plan callouts on the 1/8” sheets that are the dependent views, but all the view tags are referencing dependent view A since it is the first dependent view in the list. If I change sheet A to be named Sheet X for instance, all the view tags now reference sheet B since that becomes the first dependent view alphabetically. I want them to reference the sheet they appear in, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do that, even though they are in different dependent views completely and within the crop region, they all default to the first dependent view in alphabetical order.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am a new user to this may seem simple. When I render a 3D view the roof disappears in the render view, but when I switch to show the model it is there.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 3D view and when I turn on the clip boundary everything disappears, which leads me to believe that the clip boundary is off to the side somewhere. I zoom out & out, but can't find it.
Is there a way of resetting it? I could just make a new view, but I'd have to set the perspective again.
In this view I have hidden all the objects except for the one (a book case) that is being detailed. Every time I model something new it shows up in this view. Is there anyway of stopping new objects showing in a given view?
Why Camera Views is different from all other views in Revit. It is simple not possible to add a view reference, or a tag etc. to reference to a camera view.
Of course I can put in a 'dead' symbol to show where it is in plans, but that's simply not the same...
I am working with a seris of 3d views that I want o make bigger. How can I do this.
I want to keep the view the same but changed the "scale" of the view/perspective
I have a sheet with views on it. For some reason I can't select one of the views. I can't activate it. And the view title is gone. I can go to the browser and find it under the sheet and then go to open.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving been on Revit for more than 8 years there's nothing more difficult to explain to a new user than how the View Range functions. It's one of the first features one must deal with with Revit and yet it can yield illogical results without proper use. The #1 youtube video on Revit's View Range is 20 MINUTES long! Here's my top reasons why View Range is illogical:
1. It does not behave like the "view range" of all other Revit view types. Sections, Elevations, 3d views are all based on a simple concept, a direction, and a 3 dimensional bounding box. With floor plans, elements can appear (or not appear) in a floor plan that is clearly cut so that they shouldn't if the user doesn't understand the rules (and there are lots).
2. It has "Additional View Range Rules" (or exceptions to logic), 7 in fact, which takes Revit Wiki over a page to describe. Each rule is complicated and very situational. No other Revit view types have exceptions. Why floor plans need to have special exceptions is absurd and political. These exceptions must also slow down regeration time of the model since it must process different groups of elements individually to determine their view state in the floor plan.
3. Modern architecture does not adhere to simple boxy shapes and user's need to trust that their view range is actually cutting the surface as they see it. No exceptions or special rules.
4. View Range has a Top and a Cutting Plane elevation. It is completely illogical for any element to appear above the cutting plane. This can easily lead to misinterpretation of 2d drawings because some elements may not appear in section even though they are above the cutting plane. Views should have a cutting plane, direction (up or down in this case) and a depth. Simple, just like all other Revit views.
5. The View Depth "range" is rarely used effectively. The only practical use is to show low roofs of buildings with higher roofs, or possibly foundation elements. Scope boxes or Underlays can accomplish this task much simpler. All the additional line-styles that accompany View Depths are just unnecessary and add more things for the user to manage. It's time to kill View Depth.
It's in Autodesk's best interest to make Revit a user-friendly application. This is one area that needs attention. Keep Revit easy to use without having to watch a 20 minute video.
I'm running a copy of Photoshop CS2. Basically just using it for glorified paint for a board game im putting together for friends. I'd like to define some points which the mouse snaps to, so I can draw circles and lines with their centers or ends at the same place, so I don't have to keep nudging over to the center pixel by pixel. I'll be drawing some angles, so a compass would be helpful too.
maybe Im using the wrong software. If, perhaps, you know of a better tool for what I'm doing,
From where I can find drafting standards? I mean handy books or codes about how to:

2- define linetype scales
3- select colors for objects
4- define lineweights for objects
5- define plot styles

I'm using 2014 with 360 syncing on.Several times now, I've setup all my toolbars, snaps, etc the way I want them. I then save out an .arg and they also supposodly sync with 360. Then everything works fine for awhile and then in seemingly random change, they all go hinky, like they've been reset.
Also, my delete key has stopped working, and I can't redefine it in the CUI, and reloading my saved arg doesn't restore it.Also, I can't initiat a command of any kind with items selected. ie. select line then offset command. Reloading arg doesn't fix it.
Am I able to change the workspace from 2D Drafting and Annotation to Autocad Classic? When I open the workspace dialogue box, AutoCAD Architecture is the only option. With AutoCAD 2010, the workspace dialogue box gave me three options: 2D Drafting and Annotation, 3D Modeling and AutoCAD Classic.
How do I get Autocad Classic as a workspace option?
I have to draft a lot of existing lots and easements from legal descriptions and recorded map documents. Does Civil 3D have an option to enter metes and bounds (bearing and distances into a table format and then "autodraft" from the entries in that table?

Is there a way to set the visibility of elements in a 3D view according to the Level they are associated with?
The VG tab which opens the filter dialog provides a check box for the "Levels" category, and the relevant parameters are made available.
But I can not seem to create a filter rule which evaluates any of those parameters (name, elevation, etc...) to then isolate the visibility of those elements in the 3D view that either meet, or do not meet the criteria. Nothing seems to work.
To achieve a "similar" effect in a 3D view, I can use a Section Box, but that is a very clunky and imprecise way.I can also create a Shared Parameter for "Level" and perhaps filter successfully that way, but that seems redundant with the Levels intelligence already established.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a relatively new user to Revit (almost a year). My issue is that all of a sudden my view control bar is located so far to the left in the view window, the project browser almost covers it. I know that I can move the project browser window so that isn't all that critical. My concern is that when I want to look at a schedule it also is so far to the left of the screen I have to move the other windows to see it.
