Dec 6, 2012I do have some photoshop background but not much. How to create shaded lines drawings for patent application? All the curved surfaces need to have a lines that shows the curve.

Dec 19, 2013I need to shade a curved surface on a simple patent drawing and am restricted to using either a stipple or a simple straight line surface shading by US Patent Office guidelines. I'd like to use stipple but the only stipple I can find is a symbol for the spray tool which, when used, creates a spray pattern way beyond the drawing boundary which is not eraseable.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Drafting Settings Going Hinky
Oct 17, 2013I'm using 2014 with 360 syncing on.Several times now, I've setup all my toolbars, snaps, etc the way I want them. I then save out an .arg and they also supposodly sync with 360. Then everything works fine for awhile and then in seemingly random change, they all go hinky, like they've been reset.
Also, my delete key has stopped working, and I can't redefine it in the CUI, and reloading my saved arg doesn't restore it.Also, I can't initiat a command of any kind with items selected. ie. select line then offset command. Reloading arg doesn't fix it.

Apr 15, 2011Am I able to change the workspace from 2D Drafting and Annotation to Autocad Classic? When I open the workspace dialogue box, AutoCAD Architecture is the only option. With AutoCAD 2010, the workspace dialogue box gave me three options: 2D Drafting and Annotation, 3D Modeling and AutoCAD Classic.
How do I get Autocad Classic as a workspace option?

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2 Step Visibility Toggle While Drafting
Sep 2, 2013I am trying to draft an assembly - when i want to hide some components I go to the tree and right click on the part/assembly and select Visibility.
There is a square next to visibility on the right click menu (like a 'stop' button) and nothing changes when i select it.
When I right click on the tree a second time, a tick appears (like in modelling/assembly view) and when selected it disappears.
I want to turn items off in one click -

Oct 4, 2012How the PMS color palettes "simulate" on screen how the color will print on different substrates (glossy vs matte vs uncoated paper). That's great for comps, but if you convert it to CMYK to print it, and the values are representing a "simulated" color it won't look correct (by that I mean come close to matching the spot color). For example, the uncoated palette simulates the color by making them appear a bit washed out on screen - pretty good visual simulation. But it might do so by adding black and cyan to orange for example, etc. - effectively dulling the original color.
So if I convert that to CMYK within the new Pantone + color palette, and then send it to the printer - it won't appear as it did on screen, it will dull the end color even more because it's converted the color to the dull simulated version - what a disaster! It's only doing half the job - showing us what it should look like on screen. In order to be truly efficient for design professionals the CMYK conversion might remove black and cyan completely to effectively brighten the color in the final output on uncoated paper. I would prefer it just stick to the standard conversion, which Pantone did have as a standard palette option (PMS to process), and then I can adjust if I think it's necessary.
Any corporate branding system will likely start with a PMS spot color palette for the identity. Then it will build into many different adaptations - full color brochures, large format banners and trade show graphics, website, advertising. So any corporate branding system will need to have PMS, CMYK and RGB versions of their main corporate color palette. There was a standard for these translations that was automatically consistent in the Adobe software and that is now all over the place, so it relies on individuals manually adapting the color mixes for final use - what a great way to screw things up.

May 23, 2012How to change the default display settings for the common drafting aids(INFER, SNAP, GRID, ORTHO, POLAR, OSNAP, 3DOSNAP, OTRACK, DUCS, DYN, LWT, TPY, QP, SC) that are in the lower left corner of acad? when I open acad they are defaulted to icons. I'd prefer if the default display was to use the text descriptions noted above.

Jun 27, 2013While drafting floor plans; lines, fillet, Radius, Snap lines, there are small white boxes showing there is an angle or radius. They are getting in the way of drafting, slowing down my program and genuinely annoying. Do you know how to prevent them from appearing? Also, and I believe related, there are blue boxes appearing on all my right angles for reasons beyond me. How can I also prevent these from appearing?

Sep 28, 2012i have a long alignment going through a lot of creeks. right now the creeks are in xref just polylines but it intersect with alignments at areas.
is there a quick way to show all these lines on profile for design and drafting purposes? ideally want to just show a line at each intersection would be fine.
tried using pipes takes too long to set up. this is one important feature to have in the software.
i can program it again but i have not enough time to finish this project by mid october if i keep programming things.

Photoshop :: Drafting Board?
Sep 19, 2008I'm running a copy of Photoshop CS2. Basically just using it for glorified paint for a board game im putting together for friends. I'd like to define some points which the mouse snaps to, so I can draw circles and lines with their centers or ends at the same place, so I don't have to keep nudging over to the center pixel by pixel. I'll be drawing some angles, so a compass would be helpful too.
maybe Im using the wrong software. If, perhaps, you know of a better tool for what I'm doing,

Revit :: How Drafting Pattern Origin Is Determined
Aug 13, 2013I am trying to find out how the drafting pattern origin is determined in Revit 2013. A model pattern is very easy to adjust, but this is not true of a drafting patterns. How the drafting patterns even determine what their origin is. Is it centered on a project extents - therefore changing as the model expands, or is it set by a 0,0,0 origin similar to AutoCAD (but hidden). In an event it does not seem that this origin is adjustable (unless someone out there knows some Revit magic) so perhaps it does not matter, but I would like to know.

I selected a multitude of elements to change from rigid insulation to CMU and all were the same in the fact none could be changed into model pattern. Sep 16, 2011I am learning to use Revit 2012 and having a hard time figuring out why basic drafting features don't seem to work with reference planes. Aligning more than a few of these one-at-a-time is time consuming - any way to extend multiple reference plane lines to a boundary line or object? I read your instructions for offsetting reference planes - when I select the reference planes button in the home tab, the options bar allows me to set an offset distance but I am at a loss as to how one goes about getting the line to offset - I keep getting the layout dimension when i try to click on the line!

Dec 27, 2011We have about 25 workstations on our partner company, with the exact hardware and software configuration. We have 2 workstations with problem, but the other 23 are fine. The problem is those 2 is taking to long when loading.
I tried to load the program without loading template (startup to 0) it loads fine. The problem starts after it loads template or existing file. I can tell it's not the file problem, because after we open a file successfully, any other file after that opens normally. So there must be another process after loading the first file.
I suspected there is an addon program that cause this. Is there a way we can see what processes are running on command line (like in Windows command console), so we can find what cause this?
I think this might also because they are using ACAD MAP3D 2010, which are not certified for Windows 7 64bit on their machine.

AutoCAD LT :: Attribute Extraction Process
May 31, 2012I've recently upgraded to 2013 but when I follow exactly the same Attribute Extraction process as used in 2012LT, the output throws out some duplicates and does not even process other data. I've been through the drawing thoroughly turning layers on/off and deleting text to try and suss out the problem but it just seems like a fault with the command.
Incidentally, I've extracted data from the same drawing in 2012 and 2013, and it all works fine in 2012.

Mar 4, 2013I work in plumbing design and am constantly burdened by the tedious task of setting out hundreds upon thousands of penetrations every month for the guys on site to locate their plumbing points through the slab.
They use a GPS system to expedite the plotting, but first I provide a CAD file with just 3 layers; GRids ( a line ), Wastepoint ( a donut poly line ) and Fixture Name ( multi text) which the survey program can interpret and set out from ( actually, the surveyor only needs one point, which he grabs from the site grids that I provide ).
So that's all good, but on top of this I must dimension off the grids every point so that measurements can be done on site as back-up/cross checking.
Of course I can't have dims overlapping each other.
Is there any way to automate this part of the process? Taking a dim from the nearest grid (x and y axis) to the centre of the object I use for the penetration.
