AutoCad :: See Which Process Is Running When Loading?
Dec 27, 2011
We have about 25 workstations on our partner company, with the exact hardware and software configuration. We have 2 workstations with problem, but the other 23 are fine. The problem is those 2 is taking to long when loading.
I tried to load the program without loading template (startup to 0) it loads fine. The problem starts after it loads template or existing file. I can tell it's not the file problem, because after we open a file successfully, any other file after that opens normally. So there must be another process after loading the first file.
I suspected there is an addon program that cause this. Is there a way we can see what processes are running on command line (like in Windows command console), so we can find what cause this?
I think this might also because they are using ACAD MAP3D 2010, which are not certified for Windows 7 64bit on their machine.
I have a batch program which I want to launch from a LISP program.
First this is an attempt at an automated process whereby user input is extremely restricted. Other than the first click of the mouse on the menu item to save a copy of the file to a very restricted folder, no other user input is allowed.
AutoCAD, like most commercial apps writes a temporary file and then renames it when you choose save or saveas. And due to the restrictions in this folder that will not work. Crazy, I know but it's the parameters I must work within.
The batch file I'm launching calls another batch program in it's execution and I'm wondering if that could be where control is lost. But the thing is I can type this at the command line in AutoCAD:
The whole process works great. The command window flashes briefly AutoCAD closes the active drawing window just like I want it to. And when I check that the dwg file has been copied to the restricted folder it's there and done. But when I place that same command within my LISP program or one like this:
or just about anything else I try it fails to run. Perhaps I've been looking at this problem too long. I think I may move on to a VB.NET process to do this but I am really baffled why it will run from the command line but not within the program.
I have just installed PSP X5 and have found a couple of problems.
First one is when I close PSP the process still runs for a good 10 minutes afterwards and consumes a lot of system memory. I found this by accident after I closed PSP X5 and then decided to start it again. It wouldn't open until I closed the previous process.
Second, when I start PSP after the splash screen and the program interface appear I have to wait about 1 minute 40 seconds before I can do anything with the program.
how to improve this situation because at the moment I don't consider this acceptable?
I'm running Windows 7 32 bit with 4Gb of RAM, other than browser and email no other big program is running inthe background
I have a couple users that when a command is picked from the ribbon Revit starts to run a configuration process. A window opens like it is installing Revit again. They can select cancel or OK and the command will continue to allow them to work but it is very time consuming waiting for it to stop or cancel the process.
This started to happen once update 1 was installed for Revit 2014. I have tired repair/reinstall and uninstall Revit to stop it but it still continues even if Update 1 isn't installed.
Windows 7 64bit with all the latest patches. Revit 2014.
what I can try next. I have 70 users and this is only happening on 3 of them.
When I am sorting photos in the library loupe mode, the thumnails always show loading as I am trying to make my pics and rejects. How to speed up the process? I have already increased my cache to 100.
What is the process used to delete unwanted catalogs from the listing that comes up when loading LR 4? Any web article on the general subject of deleting unwanted catalogs?
Got a new Windows 8.1 PC. Successfully transferred all photos (about 12000) to the new hard drive. When I open Photoshop and use "get photos from files and folders", I can locate the pix but when I try to import them, the process starts then stops without bringing any to the organizer.
How the PMS color palettes "simulate" on screen how the color will print on different substrates (glossy vs matte vs uncoated paper). That's great for comps, but if you convert it to CMYK to print it, and the values are representing a "simulated" color it won't look correct (by that I mean come close to matching the spot color). For example, the uncoated palette simulates the color by making them appear a bit washed out on screen - pretty good visual simulation. But it might do so by adding black and cyan to orange for example, etc. - effectively dulling the original color.
So if I convert that to CMYK within the new Pantone + color palette, and then send it to the printer - it won't appear as it did on screen, it will dull the end color even more because it's converted the color to the dull simulated version - what a disaster! It's only doing half the job - showing us what it should look like on screen. In order to be truly efficient for design professionals the CMYK conversion might remove black and cyan completely to effectively brighten the color in the final output on uncoated paper. I would prefer it just stick to the standard conversion, which Pantone did have as a standard palette option (PMS to process), and then I can adjust if I think it's necessary.
Any corporate branding system will likely start with a PMS spot color palette for the identity. Then it will build into many different adaptations - full color brochures, large format banners and trade show graphics, website, advertising. So any corporate branding system will need to have PMS, CMYK and RGB versions of their main corporate color palette. There was a standard for these translations that was automatically consistent in the Adobe software and that is now all over the place, so it relies on individuals manually adapting the color mixes for final use - what a great way to screw things up.
my animation takes around two seconds to load within my browser. Is there a way to display a loading symbol such as spinning circle, that will show the animation is loading, then disappear once it is ready to display?
I'm currently working on a site which is almost 95% complete. The loading time for the site is approx 7-10 seconds which seems to be slow. I have placed a preloader but that doesn't seem to be coming up while the site is loading.
Is there anyway to speed up the loading time. Like some code that will tell it load specific number of frames first and then load the rest in the background?
I have compressed the images that are being used but cannot compress further as they may lose the quality.I've got the preloader working and now it seems to be showing up while the site is loading. Is there any way to speed up the loading time.
I have two monitors hooked up to my system. One is the laptops screen and the other is an external monitor. All is working as it should with the two monitors.
My question is this: I've opened up widget B on monitor 1 and I've got some information that's on widget A that I want to look at while working on widget B. My idea is that I would open both widgets and have one open on one monitor and the other open on monitor 2.
Problem is: I cannot get it to do this. I can move all of ACLT to one monitor or the other but not both at the same time.
Now, I did figure out that if I opened the program twice that I could get it to work but my concern is using up processor speed to do this.
i want to dimension a steel beam and i want to use a "rd"(running dimension) i'm using asd and autocad 2011 and i can't find how to use this command or tool i'm tryng to duplicate a drawing(drawing made with tekla) but im pretty sure we can do it with cad tekla shows the runnig dimension and text on top of the arrow.it's a short arrow that measures from the base point(rd) it's not the whole dimension line like normally dimensioning
I haven't had enough of an application to justify trying to figure it out. At this point however, i've designed a small conversion form that can be called by our engineers and allow them to convert between various units. I'd like to have a button though that allows them to call up the Quick Calc application from within AutoCAD. What i'm wondering is how do i actually call a native autoCAD command? Is it possible and if so where could i find documentation on the syntax. For what it's worth i'm working in C# in VS 2010.
I installed the trial version of autocad 2012 yesterday and it worked fine when it stated after installation, but today i am unable to start it my old MEP 2008 starts up instead , i do not have the option to start 2012 there are no autocad 2012 short cuts on desk top ( I'm sure there was after instalation ? ) and it isnt in the start menu or the open with menu, i can see autocad 2012 in the program files but no exe files, how to recover the desktop short cuts ?
At work, I notice that some of the newer draftsman (Me and about 3 other who have been there for 1-4 years) tend to prefer AutoSnaps on in some capacity and those who have been there for 7+ years tend to leave it off.
This has got me thinking about whether people prefer having AutoSnaps on in some capacity or another at all times.I tend to leave on End Point, Mid Point and Intersection on at all times, and just use CTRL + Right click to adjust as necessary.
I try to add the dwg to pdf.pc3 file to my AutoCAD LT 2014 (german) When I click on manage plotter a File Explorer Windows pops up instead of the plotter manager.
Our company purchased two brand new computers and upgraded to Map 3d 2011 and it has resulted in major time lag and running slow issues. We use a 15mb city map as are main drawing file and in AutoCad Map 2004 it runs smoothly. After the upgrade thing are running very poorly. Selecting and deleting files that could be done in seconds in 2004 now can takes a 1/2 hour. The program also seems to get stuck periodical on a selected item , requiring restart. We have upgraded all the drivers and I have tried several different display drivers. I have saved the map as a 2011 file and I have repaired it. I have tried upgrading to Map 2012 but the problems persist.
I am having an issue with my contours running through my breaklines (feature lines). I have tried re-ordering the breakline, edits, etc and have also set my settings to allow crossings.
I have created a ribbon bar in autocad 2012 using API and c#. On ribbon button i am executing a Command method which display a wizard for copying some files.
Now i want to run a macro before executing the ribbon button command method. Which display a message box with yes and no . if user click yes command method will executes itself and display wizard for copy files.
If user click no command method will not execute and return. This will allow user to use macro for customizing the file copy process.
I am trying to work out a plan in Autocad and it goes so slowly. The slowest of all actions I do is always drawing a simple line. No other program is running on my laptop.
setting up Industry Model using Oracle 10g and 11g XE edition. I cant make it working, trouble starts when trying to create MAP 3d System User "MAPSYS" in Industry Model Setup, during user creation(about 68%) error popups" Could not create user MAPSYS"XE: Unable to deploy java package. Does XE version is suitable for Industry Models. Direct connection to Oracle 10g or 11G XE with MAP 3d working for me perfectly.
System I have is: WIN 7 Enterprise( 64 bit), database is Oracle 10g and 11g XE(32bit), client is Oracle 11g R2(administrator),all autodesk software is 2013 versions(64 bit). I tried it also with 2012 software but same result.
Is it possible to refresh drawing content when modal form is running?
I placed sample project in attachment.
There is simple form with only one button.
Private Sub Button1_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Class1.DrawLineOnScreen() End Sub
After button is pressed, application prompting user for picking 2 points, and draw a line (based on picked points).
Public Shared Sub DrawLineOnScreen() Dim editor As Editor = Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.Editor Dim pFirst As PromptPointOptions = New PromptPointOptions("First point: ") Dim rFirst As PromptPointResult = editor.GetPoint(pFirst) Dim pSecond As PromptPointOptions = New PromptPointOptions("Second point: ") Dim rSecond As PromptPointResult = editor.GetPoint(pSecond) If rFirst.Status = PromptStatus.OK AndAlso rSecond.Status = PromptStatus.OK Then Dim line As Line = New Line(rFirst.Value, rSecond.Value) Dim tr As Transaction = Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.TransactionManager.StartTransaction Using tr Dim modelSpace As BlockTableRecord = tr.GetObject(Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.Database.CurrentSpaceId, OpenMode.ForWrite) modelSpace.AppendEntity(line) tr.AddNewlyCreatedDBObject(line, True) tr.Commit() End Using End If End Sub
Problem is that line had been added to transaction (to Model Space block table record) but nothing change on a drawing. Line will appear on a drawing after closing the form.
In opposite situation, without using modal form (only console) everyting works fine.
<CommandMethod("DrawLine", CommandFlags.Modal)> _ Public Sub DrawLine() Class1.DrawLineOnScreen() End Sub
If there's a conflict between the UI for teh AutoCAD drawing window and Parallels? There seems to be a consistent change in mouse behavior when the mouse moves to the AutoCAD drawing window when running AutoCAD ('11, '12, '13, '14) under Parallels (5, 6, & 7).
