Revit :: 2012 - Text Is All Jumbled Up In Status Bar
Jul 16, 2012
Student had installed 2012 version and the text is all jumbled up in the status bar. He has been using the program though. On occasion, says he also sees it affecting option bar. See attached.
I have 36 different circular names that I need to input into a document, but every time I try to edit the field on a circular path, the letters get all jumbled... What can I do to keep the letters on the path when I edit them?
i'm making a newsletter in which there are pages which has to written in malayalam. i use charmap (Start>Run>Charmap). in that i make a sentence by selecting each letters.. Charmap has its own text field where the written text is displayed. from that text field i've to copy paste it to corel draw's text field.
Now the problem is whenever i paste it on corel draw's text field, the letters come a bit jumbled up. i've noticed that the vowels get jumbled up. but when i paste it on ms word, it comes as it is.
We have several similar installation in our office, but I am the only one with this problem. All of the annotative text on drawings is unreadable because it is jumbled - in this case Helvetica. We have upgraded clean install from AutoCad 2010 to 2014 - no luck. We reinstalled all of the fonts in both the system and AudtoCad (TrueType and SHX files) - no luck. Changing size or scale - no luck. I have not seen this specific issue before and don't have font issues in any other program.
See attached image - typical of all text on drawing, even within blocks.
We use electircal elements in AutoCAD dwgs that have labels to indicate the status of the element by phase. For instance on a floor plan we might have elctrical outlets that are existing (E), new (N), demo (D), etc. How does one do this efficietnly in REVIT? Is there a way to assign a paramter to grab the phase of the object and then adjust a label accordingly? This would be ideal because over time the element s might move from one phase to another such as from new to existing.
n my Image i have several layers, and two adjustment-layers for manipulating hue/saturation of parts of certain layers. Think something like having a picture of a person, and having the adjustment-layers to change the persons pants and shirt independently. So you can easily make color-variations of what the person wears, and save them, e.g. as jpg.
What I want is to add a little textarea which ends up on each jpg (not meta-data, I mean readable in a corner on the actual image), that gives me the color-values from the adjustment layers that were used to create that very image. So at a later time when I have one of my jpgs and it hits me that this exact color-combination is perfekt I can recreate it easily. Of course I could do it by hand, but is there a way to automate it, using text-variables linked to the hue/saturation-layers?
When I print sections of Help, italicized words become jumbled and intelligible. They are usually "Note" paragraphs which are normally significant information. Both printing to my default printer and a PDF creation program have failed.
I take high school sports photos using a Canon 7D camera, that can take about 9 pictures per second, which is great for capturing events. I've noticed with several versions of Photoshop Elements (9 &11), on Win 7 Pro 32 AND Win 7 Pro 64 versions (on multiple computers) that when I use Get Photos & Videos|From Camera or Card Reader, then in the photo downloader dialog box, use the Rename Files option, that my picture files get renamed in jumbled fashion. Not all pictures are jumbled, but many. If I have files on my Canon such as DIG001.jpg, DIG002.jpg, DIG003.jpg, DIG004.jpg, they may be renamed as RenameFilename001.jpg (which is acutally DIG001.jpg), RenameFilename002.jpg (which is actually DIG003.jpg), RenameFilename003.jpg (which is actually DIG002.jpg), RenameFilename004.jpg (which is actually DIG004.jpg) - in this case original picture files 2 & 3 have been reversed. This is very confusing when reviewing a photo sequence that is renamed into an out of chronological order sequence (i.e. ball is hiked, ball is caught by receiver, ball is kicked, receiver runs with caught ball).
I have also confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the Canon 7D camera by taking high speed pictures of a video which is displaying video frame numbers. I can confirm that the files as stored in the camera are in the direct chronological order as taken (i. e. 001, 002, 003, 004, etc.). When I then download these pictures from the camera using Photoshop Elements 11, they are not all in chronological order (some are, some aren't).
I don't know if this is a bug in the program or there is something else I need to do to assure the pictures are imported in exact chronological order (as taken by the camera).
I wanted to know how people are labeling or taging the "parts" of their construction, like walls. I want to be able to tag the parts so that a description of the part is pulled from the material so a change to the material affects all lables and tags.
The 2 problems I am running into
1. in a 3D mode I cannot use a materials tag, and so have to rely on a Tag by Category, which limits me to the material name. I want to be able to refer to any of the properties in the material identity tag.
2. In a section or plan view, I can use a material tag, so I can refer to Description, Comments Keywords, etc, but the tags keep going blank and need to be "reloaded" anytime I change anything in the view. If I change the crop boundary, change from Show Parts to Show Original and return to Show Parts, change scale, anything; the tags return to ?. I have to select each tag and then click off of them for the parameters to be displayed; I feel like I am back in ADT with refresh and reload all.
I had to work in Revit architect 2012 and today i have to open this file again. The program is show message is
Autodesk Revit Architect 2012 Buil : 20110916_2132(x64) License unavailable. A license is required to run Autodesk Revit Architect 2012 on this computer.
But this file i have to tried to open in another machine is can open. Do i need to recovery my Revit program or re-install.
Rendering at high quality, exterior sun only, 150 DPI and the image is about 9' tall x5' wide. Everything goes great until it hits 26%. Then the bar goes full on 100% but the image is only 26% rendered.
I have a 2gb video card, 4.1Ghz overclocked processor and about 8GB of RAM. Perhaps I havn't allocated enough memory to render an image of this size?
I have recently been informed that my Revit 2013 is not compatible with the classes that I am taking. I have installed Revit 2012, but my projects cannot be opened in 2012. Is there a better or a way at all to transfer these projects?
Often as a sole user of Revit when I open a project I have been working on I get the following message:
"This file is already open for editing by another user. You will be unable to save any changes before that user closes the file."
Since I am the only one working on the project there are no other users and as far as I can tell no other files open. Any insight into what has triggered this message?
my laptop has been stolen and I had to buy a new PC...The new one is a windows 8, therfore, I had to install revit 2014....the problem is that I have been working on a graduate class project using revit 2012, and now revit 2014 will not open the files I built on revit 2012...I have only 10 days to rebuild what I have been working on for 3 months!!!...is there any way to open a revit 2012 on 2014 or at least convert it to work on 2014.
I built a basic facade system as a family in Revit 2012, but the materials won't stick. Every time I try to edit the family and assign a material, the material doesn't show up in the Revit file it's loaded into. Then, when I open the family back up to try editing it again, the material that I assigned to it five minutes ago is already reset to default, despite my saving and reloading it several times.
I am trying to export part of a structural model to IFC but Revit is exporting the complete model. My file is from a consultant and is created in Revit Structure 2011, I am opening it with Revit 2012. The model contains ‘new’ and ‘existing’ phases which appear to be set up correctly.
I have tried a couple of different methods set up a 3D view and defined it by phase 'new only' so the existing is hidden, and tried to export with the “current view only” checked and uncheckedset up a 3D view and defined it by workset using visibility graphics, and again with the “current view only” checked and uncheckedEach time when I open the Model in Navisworks or Solibri everything is visible.Have tried this in both Struct and Arch with the same result, but I do not have the same issue if I open and export from Revit 2011 (arch) ?
I'm new to Revit and have a question about quickshifting between 2D og 3D view. I have managed to assign a hotkey for 3D view, but I can't figure out how to assign a hotkey for returning to the view I was in before the 3D view. I know that you can double click the level you want to go to, but I want to use the mouse as little as possible.
The help file says the keynote file should be located here- C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataAutodesk<Revit release name><Imperial or Metric> Library Not happening. I'm in windows xp pro 64
i want to use the Worksharing monitor with Revit Architecture 2012 SP1 64 bit (part of our building design suite premium), but when i load a workshering-enabled model (wich resides on our Revit server) the monitor stay's empty (stating that i should open a model in Revit)
I have a project with over 20 models that were all upgraded from Revit 2012 to Revit 2014. Once upgraded, I was able to reload all the Revit links and see these links in views, as I should. Later the same day, when opening a new local file, I am unable to open a view after loading a link without Revit freezing. Not crashing, but freezing... the application says "Not Responding", the memory allocation is unchanged in the Window's processes, and the journal file is no longer being written to. I thought maybe this is just taking a long time to process, but 1) it didn't take this long to open the view with the loaded link when it was first successful, and 2) I've left it for hours without change.
We are still on Revit 2012 and from my understanding, there were some improvements in the way Revit exports to CAD files. I'm sure most of you would agree that the export to AutoCAD feature is still a long way off. I wanted some opinions on my thoughts on how to minimize some of the errors that I recieve when I open the exported CAD files.
My problems really pertain to linetypes and hatch patterns. If I do not map any of the patterns to a standard AutoCAD linetype or hatch pattern file, then I get an error reading pattern message if I want to check out the pattern in AutoCAD. I am very inclined to wipeout all of the standard fill patterns and linestyles in Revit and make new ones based on the standard AutoCAD lines and hatches. Does this seem reasonable?
I recently tried exporting an FBX file from Revit 2012 in to another 3d software as well as the FBX converter. On both occassions, the materials don't show up, nor the textures.
where to find the build number of my Revit Architecture 2012-that is within the software I've installed. I know what the latest build number is. so want to check I have it.
I still have users using the old workflow (pre-2010) of creating local files by copying and pasting the central file from the server to their C drive and renaming the local copy. Is this workflow still supported in Revit 2012?
I have been suggesting to users to use the worksharing options in the open project browser, but sometimes for some people habits are hard to break, do I need to be concerned?
WHen I create a roof on level two of my project, I get only two choices of roof. When I go to roof edit, I get system family basic roof, and glazed panel. No other roof families to load.
I simply want to attach a shed roof to the upper part of wall (at level 2), and it only allows me to create a hip roof.I can't seem to modify it, other than to change roof slope. I've looked at a couple of videos, but the featuers in the videos don't seem to be there.
Note that the walls are sloping (in order to shed rain). I also cannot create a slope on the top edge of the wall in elevation view, but that's another story. How to I modify the hip roof to create a flat, if that's what I must do?
i am trying to open a revit 2012 file in to revit 2013 but it is showing me an error thar says: There is a circular chain of references among the highlighted elements. and then this message: Data in this file is currupt and needs to be manually recoverd. but I can perfectly open the same file in revit 2012..
I need a file called Curtain Wall Dbl Glass.rfa. It's missing in the Doors folder in my UK Fmaily Library in my software. I've found one on the web. I've copy/pasted it onto my Desktop. How do I now load it into my Revit project ?
I'm trying to duplicate an exercise published in Revit Architecture 2012 Essentials (pp104-105, Figures 4.25 - 4.27). I'm obviously doing something incorrectly, but I can't get the two separately drawm roofs to join.
Would love to attach the file, but the simple drawing is 2.2MB when Zipped.
I'm having a technical question with a customers Revit Architecture 2012. The project he's working on is about 90 Megabytes in size, and the references are about 60MB. He is storing these on a network share. Unfortunately they are still on a 100MBit network. As Workstation he is using a DELL Precision M6500 (notebook) with the following specs:
when he is trying to zoom in on and out of this project, he is experiencing high waiting time between the zoom-steps, sometimes unbearably long. As the notebook is brandnew and tested I didn't blame it on faulty hardware. So I suggested to run the same Project on a different machine.
I don't know much about the software architecture of Revit Architecture, so i don't know which hardware component is mostly stressed when zooming in and out (guessing the gfx, because the project needs to be recalculated?). I guess there lies the bottleneck. The customer requested an answer, which hardware needs to be exchanged / upgraded in order to accelerate the zoom-steps, decrease the latency.
