Revit :: Architecture 2012 High Latency When Zooming

I'm having a technical question with a customers Revit Architecture 2012. The project he's working on is about 90 Megabytes in size, and the references are about 60MB. He is storing these on a network share. Unfortunately they are still on a 100MBit network. As Workstation he is using a DELL Precision M6500 (notebook) with the following specs:
when he is trying to zoom in on and out of this project, he is experiencing high waiting time between the zoom-steps, sometimes unbearably long. As the notebook is brandnew and tested I didn't blame it on faulty hardware. So I suggested to run the same Project on a different machine.
I don't know much about the software architecture of Revit Architecture, so i don't know which hardware component is mostly stressed when zooming in and out (guessing the gfx, because the project needs to be recalculated?). I guess there lies the bottleneck.The customer requested an answer, which hardware needs to be exchanged / upgraded in order to accelerate the zoom-steps, decrease the latency.
where to find the build number of my Revit Architecture 2012-that is within the software I've installed. I know what the latest build number is. so want to check I have it.
I need a file called Curtain Wall Dbl Glass.rfa. It's missing in the Doors folder in my UK Fmaily Library in my software. I've found one on the web. I've copy/pasted it onto my Desktop. How do I now load it into my Revit project ?
I'm trying to duplicate an exercise published in Revit Architecture 2012 Essentials (pp104-105, Figures 4.25 - 4.27). I'm obviously doing something incorrectly, but I can't get the two separately drawm roofs to join.
Would love to attach the file, but the simple drawing is 2.2MB when Zipped.
How do I show high level walkways and balconies (in dashed outline) on the ground floor plan in a high volume space?
Obviously I can turn the first floor RCP on in the view and manually draw the information, but I assume these lines won't move if the walkways above move (or am I wrong?). Also this seems slightly wrong given the amount of automation available.
I am having a lag problem when quickly zooming in or using the selection window quickly. When quickly picking a window from left to right the first pick point lags and I would select some thing else. Iam using Cad 2012. Is there a command setting that has changed from Cad 2011 to 2012 ??
I'm using a student version of RAC 2011 and everything works out well upon installation. My problem is that whenever I pan or zoom in on my model, the screen will blink black and white, and at certain zoom level, the screen stays all black. I'm using an ASUS K52jc-Ex303 laptop with the following specs:
I have already installed the latest drivers from nvidia, which doesn't seem to work.
Matter of fact, it's so bad, that i'm always forced to turn off hardware acceleration which is a headache especially with large-scale models and it keeps on crashing.
I understand the fact that this GPU was built for gaming, and its not listed in the list of recommended graphics cards by autodesk. (I get the some features... message everytime i open RAC) My question is, is there anyway I can tweak the settings within the nvidia control panel to improve this issue on my revit architecture 2011?
I am experiencing problems with AutoCAD Architecture when drawing a standard wall. When I change the display to read High Detail nothing seems to change - I cant see the hatch patterns for brick/block.
Recently we bought numbers of Revit Suite 2013 and expects the best performances from it. but, regretably speaking the rendering time is worst than before upgrading.In addition to that, we also upgraded our Workstation to 16 GB RAM and a QUADRO graphic engine, but it still take more than an hour to render one simple view.what could be the cause? i hope it is not the software that we bought( cost us thousands... ) here i post the rendering screen and the task performance while we are rendering,ASAP reply needed as all our REVIT workstations moving away from our deep expectation.
We typically extend steel stringers past the bottom tread to the point where truncating yeilds a 4" vertical edge. This is done to match adjacent 4" high baseboard. I understand that the sketch lines can be extended BUT can it be done with this precision?
Im currently using Autocad Architecture, is it true that Autocad Architecture creates a bigger file size compared to Revit Architecture? Lets say that same structure and components are created.
I do not get why new Archicad Architecture has 3d modeling when Revit architecture already provided for it. What is the different between those two? I really want to know the difference. It bothers me somewhat about them.
Me and some fellows at work have been noticing a significant increase in the time it takes to copy with base point and paste into a different drawing file. Maybe it is just the 2012 version of the software , what has changed or how to minimize the time this takes. I don't see any reason it should take up to a minute to copy a few polylines from one drawing to the next.
I have an issue where we print a set of drawings from SSM and a couple of the drawings (not the complete set) had detail call outs with hashtags where the field didn't update.
This is with the FIELDEVAL setting for these drawings at 31. You can open that drawing and print it and the callouts populate fine. I had another user in the same office try and print the drawings 2 weeks later and the callouts populated.
I tried right after that (I am in a different office 45 miles away) and the callouts didn't populate. I"m thinking this has got to be some type of network latency issue because it's very sporadic.
I just updated to the latest version of Edge Animate CC yesterday. Great new features, by the way! However, I have noticed that with a simple file that I created with the new version, there is a 3-4 second loading latency when previewing a file and when launching the published version. This is not the case with files that I created in the previous version and have not updated.
Example: I have a gray rectangle element that covers the entire stage, and I have an action on creationComplete to hide the element. I see the rectangle immediately on launch, but it takes 3-4 seconds to hide.
I was using Ulead VideoStudio SE and 12.0 without any issues but ever since I tried a trial version of X3 or X4 I'm unable to render videos properly with SE and 12.0 using SmartRender. What happens is after 8 minutes, the sound of the video stops and when the sound comes back on, the frames start freezing. This issue occurred before and I removed the trial versions and reinstalled all my drivers, etc. to fix the problem. But now I tried doing the same thing and it's not working. I even tried to cleanup everything of Ulead and Corel on my system, but the render issue still occurs.
I'm experiencing latency when playing movies in LR5. I'm connected to my Windows server from a new/fast Macbook running 10.9. Right now, the batch that I'm experiecing this with are .MOV files, but it's happened with other formats as well. The movies play fine when I open them in QT from Finder, so I know it's not the server connection, which uses Gigabit ethernet. When I play them through LR5, I often experience delays where I'll hear the audio, but the video is frozen. Then when I swittch back from Loupe to Grid view, I get the spinning wheel for a while. This even occurs on short movies - 2-3 minuyes long, under 5MB. This should be an easy thing to implement, and baseline for offering movie capabilities.
I have a number of drawings of our facilities that have been added to and revised over the years prior to having an established standard. Most of the drawings are in 2d (lines, hatches, etc.) but portions of the the newer projects were done partially in ADT/ACA (walls, doors, windows, etc.). I need to strip out the 3D information and convert to 2D for an application we will be using. Is there an easy way to do this?
I have done the Save As, Export to, and AECOBJECTEXPLODE routes but all leave 3d faces that can't be exploded any furher. I don't wan't want to use hidden line projection as that creates a very large drawing as all hatches are converted to individual lines.
One of the users in my office is getting the "AutoCAD cannot continue" error in AutoCAD Architecture 2012. I've read a few of the discussions concerning this issue in earlier versions.
After I plot to pdf, I get an error message: You do not have a PDF viewing application installed. Go to the internet and dowload a pdf viewer. The problem is that Acrobat Reader X is installed on my computer. I saw the thread about Reader X having spooling issues, so I reinstalled Acrobat Reader 9. Still get the same message.I can go to the file afterwards and open it, despite this message, but it is supposed to open from Architecture after it is plotted and it won't do that.
I don't consider myself a minimalist in any way, but I like to keep my personal folders clean of any system files. I recently changed the path for the autosave-folder as it intruded my private work files. The problem is that even though I did change the path, every time I start AutoCAD a new 'Autodesk'-folder is created in my personal folder. It still contains the sub-level 'Autosave'.
We have just installed ACA 2012 on one of our workstations and randomly the crosshairs will disapear in paperspace. We will still get the cursor icon if we hover over properties and paletts etc. We have the latest service pack and ribbon hotfix. Searching hasn't come up with much.
I work on AutoCad 2012. I am trying to find the revision cloud & tag tool. I seem to only be able to place a revision cloud without a tag on the drawing. I don't see a tag option and searching for the option on the help menu has resulted in zero hits. Does AutoCad 2012 not offer this feature or am I looking in the wrong location?
