AutoCAD Architecture :: 2013 - Walls Not Displaying In High Detail?
Nov 1, 2012
I am experiencing problems with AutoCAD Architecture when drawing a standard wall. When I change the display to read High Detail nothing seems to change - I cant see the hatch patterns for brick/block.
I created a new wall type that includes Stud, Sheathing, and Rigid Insulation. I need to show the existing CMU walls cutting through the new Stud walls. Can this be done?
is there a way to make walls looking same as in floor plans...(layers, colors, hatches). I would like to make a template for my walls looking same in sections as in floor plans. This image is what I get by default and I don't know how to change this.
I've drawn a residence in AutoCAD architecture using AEC walls and when I xref my drawing into 3ds Max to add lighthing and textures, the walls do not show up. I've done this on previous projects and there were no issues.
At the moment in AutoCAD (vanilla), we use different names & colors for block walls, concrete walls, etc. for easy isolation of each type, & for different lineweights (CTB). I thought of doing the same in ACA for the same reason, and so in wall styles, display properties, I changed the shrink wrap to by block.
This allows me to change the color of the walls according to the layers I put them into (in plan view). As I haven't even done a building in ACA yet, I need to find out if this method is acceptable, and what are the disadvantages, pitfalls, and if there's anything bad about it.
On one of our drawings all of the doors (aparently except for one) detached from their host walls. The doors were still in their places, but un-anchored. We can go through and re-anchor them, but that's a lot of work, especially since they get shifted to the point on the wall you pick to re-anchor them.
1) Is there an easy way to re-anchor them to their original location?
2) What caused this (so that we can avoid this in the future)?
How can I show the CMU vertical walls in this photo butting up against the stud in the horizontal wall? Please use layman terms as best as possible in describing how to fix this problem.
Is there a trick to get spaces to be on the same level as the walls? On my 2nd floor plan located at 12'-8", the spaces are generating at the ground floor level.
We recently upgraded to AutoCAD Architecture 2013 from Architecture 2011 and am having all sorts of intermittent issues with walls showing up as single lines in x-refs (even though the file being refrenced has been brought into 2013 and shows correctly when opened by itself). We are also having intermittent issues with the plans and walls themselfs showing as a single line. I need assistance on strightening this out as we have several jobs pending construction that are all having this issue in incosestant areas.
After upgrading to ACA 2011 in plan view I am unable to snap to the edges of walls. Toggling the osnap setting check box to allow object snap to act on wall justification lines seems to have no effect as it always snaps only to the justification line and to nothing else. This is extremely annoying and makes it impossible to dimension to the face of a wall that is center justified. Is this a bug or am I missing some new setting somewhere? All my layers are unfrozen including layer 0.
I have a series of 3d walls in autocad Architecture 2012 and an existing CAD 2d structural column layout.
I need to remove/cut or trim the wall around the HSS columns on a floor plan. The walls show the consttruction of the wall and I can't seem to create a void or mass to cut out around the column. Is there an easy way of doing this so that I can just place this in a block to auto cut the wall. My hope was to create a column block so that I can just drop the HSS columns wherever i want them.
I know i can use a wipeout to clear the area however, that is not ideal as we have other linework that need to be visible.
I am using Autocad LT 2013 and Autocad Architecture withing the same office. When I open a file that has an Xref from Autocad Architecture with 3D walls in Autocad LT, the walls only show as 1 line instead of 2. If I open the orginal file that the Xref came from, with Autocad LT the walls show up just fine (as blocks instead of 3d walls as I expected). I am hoping to be able to veiw the Xrefs correctly in Autocad LT.
I just started using version 2010 (I was using 2009 way past the 2010 release). Whenever I go to insert a detail component such as a 3/4" bolt it fails. On the command line I see the name of the detail to be inserted but immediately after is *Cancel*.
I have to shut down Architecture and restart it before it will let me insert the component -- and then only once. If I want to insert other components I have to shut down and restart every time.
I'm using AutoCAD Architecture 2009. I xref a lot of floor plans underneath my new floor plans to trace different walls, roof outlines etc and ever since I started using the smart walls this has become a real pain. When I xref in a demo floor plan for example underneath my new remodeled plan the walls from the xref interact with the new walls and of course bring up all the error triangles. Is there a way to make the xref not interact with the plan that it is being place under?
I am having a nagging problem related to window and door cleanups in walls. Certain walls seem to lose the opening for a window or door. Sometimes, disconnecting a wall from another at a T or L insection clears the problem, but when they meet again, the all openings in that wall disappear. It looks fine in plan view, but 3d aspects of the wall are affected. This problem is also inconsistant. Quite frustrating. I've a attached a series of jpegs that illustrate a current issue.
I'm trying to make walls that are not just the Standard type (Brick -4 Brick -4 Furring for example) but when I make a wall of this type, it displays as a simple rectangle, instead of with the unique hatch patterns of that wall type...In the properties palette, the wall type is Standard, even though I've chosen a more specific wall type. How do I make walls that aren't Standard?
I am working on my electrical plan with the floor plan xref'd. I am able to get the entire floorplan to plot lighter using the 25% saturation feature in layers. The walls print ghosted, but the hatch that is on the same layer as the walls stays dark. I tried creating a seperate wall section All layers on the floor plan dwg that are xref'd in are the same in the layers dialog.
I am using the the tool palette to build exterior walls.. I have the wall as needed finished except for a limestine sill. It is bull nosed and contoured. How do I put the profile in the wall style so it looks correct?
We have an interior space built out for a commercial project incorporating curved walls in 3D. We need to generate a 2D drawing to be turned over to the on-site architect. Generating a 2D section yeilds a faceted wall. AECFACETDEV has no effect on the curve quality. Is there a control for Horizontal section? Walls do not show up using flatshot so that is not an option.
We have a house plan that has windows and doors of different types anchored to their walls. It seems that whenever someone is working in a file from the network that has the plan xrefed into it and the plan is opened to be modified by another user the windows and doors randomly detach from the walls. We're getting tired of going back in and reanchoring them.
I have drawings that were made in AutoCAD Architecture 2008 that when opened in AutoCAD Architecture 2012, the 0-width walls in the drawing don't show up anymore. The only solution I found was to change the Base Height in the properties of the wall (which I accessed by choosing the zdiagnostics display setting) to 10' instead of the standard 1/2" that we normally use.
I'm guessing it has to do with the wall styles as they were transferred from out 2008 to our 2012 template.
Since yesterday, when I try to draw any of our custom wall types all I get is a standard wall type image (rectangle only). None of the detail or component colors are displayed. When I start creating the new wall, the detail displays until I click at the end of the wall, then the detail disappears. When I ID an existing wall and a newly created rectangle the properties all match. I can copy and mirror existing wall and the correct display is retained. All of the existing walls in the drawing display and print correctly. The newly created wall print only the rectangle. Medium detail settings are in place. This has to be a local setting problem on my computer because others in the office can draw the same new wall in the same drawing and get all of the detail.
How do you modify the database and generate the size of items needed within the software from the Detail Component Database? Can you Adjust sizes? Are there more items to select?
