May 6, 2013I created a new wall type that includes Stud, Sheathing, and Rigid Insulation. I need to show the existing CMU walls cutting through the new Stud walls. Can this be done?

Nov 7, 2013Is it possible to get the room boundary line in a curtain wall to be set to the inner face of the mullion instead of the inner face of the glass?
I have looked at the System family library but cant find a setting for changing this.
Also, setting the location line is greyed out. Why?
If I draw clockwise I get the location line on the inner face of the glass even if the greyed out location line setting in the options bar is set to center.Why?
Revit :: Negative Joint Mullion Curtain Walls
Feb 11, 2014I'm trying to get a curtain wall style working, where I would have panels with a clean joint between them, of a controllable size. I'm also working with system curtain wall panels as I expect the CW style will need to work with variable profiles at the top.
My attempt so far has been to do a U-shape profile to get the panels to stop against, but this means the U is seen, particularly at the + junctions of the panels, which is not desirable. I could locally hide the mullions, but this is time consuming and I'd rather do it using a style-based method.
I've also tried doing a filter based on the CW Mullion name, and making it not visible, but this doesn't work for some reason.
Revit :: Exporting Curtain Wall With Panels As Walls
Feb 16, 2012I am trying to export my floor plan to dwg file and I have curtain wall there which have panels as regular wall types. The problem is that exporting it will put those panels on the wall layer. I need them to be on curtain wall panel layer. I tried to use "Function" parameter in wall family by changing certain wall types to Retaining (since I don't use this parameter) and changed Wall/Retaining category layer to curtain panel in dwg export setup. But it seems it has no effect.I also noticed that walls inserted as panels into curtain wall do have a parameter under "Identity Data" with the name "Categorize as" where are two values - wall or panel. But this does not have any effect either since there is no category for it in export setup.

Revit :: Aligning Two Curtain Walls / Panels In Blob-like Form
Jan 20, 2014I'm trying to figure out a small problem I have with creating a Blob-like form. I've created a mass by creating a form out of six (two per level) reference lines. The Form comes out nice, but whenever I divide the form, the two created surfaces don't align with each other. Therefore, when I create curtain walls or patterns on this form, they don't match up either.
I have attached two images and a Conceptual massing file with the mass inside.

Feb 9, 2011I have a curtain wall I need to make, but I need it to be curve on elevation. Its an arch. I can do it on sketchup but I need autocad precision to establish the modules. I have this division settings, horizontal 3.111 vertical 3.559m.
The profile arch has a 40.062m radius. 27.741 arc length. and a total angle of 39.673.
My question is, how can I bend the curtain wall??? I can make a flat curtain wall to follow my referenced base curve, but I need tu curve it in elevation. Here is a demo view from sketchup.What i'm trying to do is the coloured face.

Aug 13, 2012I created a curved curtain wall based on a reference curve. I set the divisions and mullions and everything seems to be working like its supposed to except for a the mullions and the infill panels. First, the mullions vertically and horizontally dont seem to line up nor have any way to miter with themselves. They should because they are extruding along the same center point. This should be simple but it doesnt seem to work. Second, and the most annoying, is that the curtain wall infill panels dont seem to know where they are supposed to cut themselves. They leave themselves stranded at the ends for some reason and none of the settings for the panel or the curtain wall itself seems to address this. I thought it might have to do with the center point of the profile I used for the frames and mullions but apparently they dont and I dont have control of it. Seems like it should work a little more cleanly. Unless it is some sort of bug in ACA 2013.

Aug 10, 2012At the moment in AutoCAD (vanilla), we use different names & colors for block walls, concrete walls, etc. for easy isolation of each type, & for different lineweights (CTB). I thought of doing the same in ACA for the same reason, and so in wall styles, display properties, I changed the shrink wrap to by block.
This allows me to change the color of the walls according to the layers I put them into (in plan view). As I haven't even done a building in ACA yet, I need to find out if this method is acceptable, and what are the disadvantages, pitfalls, and if there's anything bad about it.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Doors Detaching From Walls?
Aug 11, 2011On one of our drawings all of the doors (aparently except for one) detached from their host walls. The doors were still in their places, but un-anchored. We can go through and re-anchor them, but that's a lot of work, especially since they get shifted to the point on the wall you pick to re-anchor them.
1) Is there an easy way to re-anchor them to their original location?
2) What caused this (so that we can avoid this in the future)?

Jun 29, 2012We recently upgraded to AutoCAD Architecture 2013 from Architecture 2011 and am having all sorts of intermittent issues with walls showing up as single lines in x-refs (even though the file being refrenced has been brought into 2013 and shows correctly when opened by itself). We are also having intermittent issues with the plans and walls themselfs showing as a single line. I need assistance on strightening this out as we have several jobs pending construction that are all having this issue in incosestant areas.

Apr 28, 2010After upgrading to ACA 2011 in plan view I am unable to snap to the edges of walls. Toggling the osnap setting check box to allow object snap to act on wall justification lines seems to have no effect as it always snaps only to the justification line and to nothing else. This is extremely annoying and makes it impossible to dimension to the face of a wall that is center justified. Is this a bug or am I missing some new setting somewhere? All my layers are unfrozen including layer 0.

Sep 4, 2013I have a series of 3d walls in autocad Architecture 2012 and an existing CAD 2d structural column layout.
I need to remove/cut or trim the wall around the HSS columns on a floor plan. The walls show the consttruction of the wall and I can't seem to create a void or mass to cut out around the column. Is there an easy way of doing this so that I can just place this in a block to auto cut the wall. My hope was to create a column block so that I can just drop the HSS columns wherever i want them.
I know i can use a wipeout to clear the area however, that is not ideal as we have other linework that need to be visible.
AutoCAD LT :: Architecture Xref- Walls Showing As 1 Line
May 18, 2012I am using Autocad LT 2013 and Autocad Architecture withing the same office. When I open a file that has an Xref from Autocad Architecture with 3D walls in Autocad LT, the walls only show as 1 line instead of 2. If I open the orginal file that the Xref came from, with Autocad LT the walls show up just fine (as blocks instead of 3d walls as I expected). I am hoping to be able to veiw the Xrefs correctly in Autocad LT.

I xref a lot of floor plans underneath my new floor plans to trace different walls, roof outlines etc and ever since I started using the smart walls this has become a real pain. When I xref in a demo floor plan for example underneath my new remodeled plan the walls from the xref interact with the new walls and of course bring up all the error triangles.Is there a way to make the xref not interact with the plan that it is being place under?

In the wall-drawing i recently set the walls color to "by layer" via the display properties in style manager.
Unfortunately they keep their old color in the other files. I tried visretain and it didn't do the trick.

Sep 15, 2011I am having a nagging problem related to window and door cleanups in walls. Certain walls seem to lose the opening for a window or door. Sometimes, disconnecting a wall from another at a T or L insection clears the problem, but when they meet again, the all openings in that wall disappear. It looks fine in plan view, but 3d aspects of the wall are affected. This problem is also inconsistant. Quite frustrating. I've a attached a series of jpegs that illustrate a current issue.

The walls print ghosted, but the hatch that is on the same layer as the walls stays dark. I tried creating a seperate wall section All layers on the floor plan dwg that are xref'd in are the same in the layers dialog.
