Revit :: High End PC Rendering Time Vs Hardware Configuration
Nov 23, 2012
Recently we bought numbers of Revit Suite 2013 and expects the best performances from it. but, regretably speaking the rendering time is worst than before upgrading. In addition to that, we also upgraded our Workstation to 16 GB RAM and a QUADRO graphic engine, but it still take more than an hour to render one simple view.what could be the cause? i hope it is not the software that we bought( cost us thousands... ) here i post the rendering screen and the task performance while we are rendering,ASAP reply needed as all our REVIT workstations moving away from our deep expectation.

Other Application Programs are running very smoothly, but Photoshop is giving problem. My system configuration is ""i5 + 8 GB RAM + 4 GB Graphic Card"

How do I control time without using the Time Configuration Dialog box?
Also on a side note; what's the difference between the Dope Sheet and the Curve Editor?

How do I show high level walkways and balconies (in dashed outline) on the ground floor plan in a high volume space?
Obviously I can turn the first floor RCP on in the view and manually draw the information, but I assume these lines won't move if the walkways above move (or am I wrong?). Also this seems slightly wrong given the amount of automation available.

URL....I know how to do normal time (obviously) and reversing time isn't that bad either (It's usually just physically dragging keyframes.)
But how does he accelerate time? The only way I can figure is by messing with the FPS count in the Time Configuration dialog box, it works that way, but is that the orthodox way of doing it?

direc3d 9 resets to defaults. annoying, everytime i start max- have to set to my prefferences (anisotroping and texture sizes)
direct3d 10 "display all triangle edges" on/off makes no effect, i still see all triangles, that confuses "use cashed drdx meshes" removes those triangles but they appear entering polygon editing on some files those two checkboxes seems to have no effect at all, i see lots of triangles i dont want or need to see

I have a couple users that when a command is picked from the ribbon Revit starts to run a configuration process. A window opens like it is installing Revit again. They can select cancel or OK and the command will continue to allow them to work but it is very time consuming waiting for it to stop or cancel the process.
This started to happen once update 1 was installed for Revit 2014. I have tired repair/reinstall and uninstall Revit to stop it but it still continues even if Update 1 isn't installed.
Windows 7 64bit with all the latest patches. Revit 2014.
what I can try next. I have 70 users and this is only happening on 3 of them.

I am really messing my model,.. am using 3ds max 2010,. my problem is when i render my animation in active time segment my first frame seems ok,. but as its goes on the lights looks fading or turning it off as it goes by i already check the "compute advance lighting when required" and nothings change,.. let me attach some pics.
the first pics is frame 0000, the second pics is 39th frame,.. if you take a look on white materials they turned grey,.. and in frame 200 the lights are really out i cant show them any more cause i deleted them and when i render in range (i.e.) i start in 40th frame the lights or materials came perfect but again if goes by the result fading let me attach the 40th frame using "range".

Is there no way of reducing the time?. I understand that this process involves solving of differential equations for reflection of light from various materials in the building etc. Can it not be done through Autolisp instead of going through .NET languages. Common Lisp is also a powerful OOP language. If Alisp cannot do it can Autodesk implement CL and cut short the time?.

I have just taken some short video clips and put them together in a 3min 40 second video. When I tried to save it to my desktop the rendering took a little over an hour. This is my first try so I am really a newbie Is it normal to take that long to render? I was planning on making 20 to 40 minute videos but at an hour for every 3 minutes it may not work.

I have noticed this as an occasional random ongoing problem in Lightroom and just encountered it again in LR 5, running on Win 7 64 on a 30" 2560x1600 monitor. While the develop view renders properly, the louple view is very soft. Here is an example:
1:1 from Develop
1:1 from loupe
There is no indication that you need to wait for the final rendering and the image never gets sharper. Zooming in and out does not fix the rendering in loupe view. Resizing the lightroom window to a smaller size does not work. Rebuilding 1:1 previews does not work.
The only thing that works is to close and reopen Lightroom. It appears that some flag in the program instructing the loupe rerender sometimes does not get set.
This is a serious problem because a user could easily decide to delete an image based on the loupe view. This has forced me to preview all my images in PhotoMechanic. I simply cannot rely on Lightroom.
This is a difficult problem to reproduce as it seems to happen randomly. In a search and based on recollection, the zoom in and out seemed to fix.

When i´m rendering out a video with still images (timelapse) i use Timewarp. I like to have Timewarp at 50%, but then i only get rendered half the images. If i have 500 images, only 250 gets rendered to the final QT-video. There must be a way to get all images in the video??

When i go there the first option under file options, quick time export, is unavailable( grayed out). The only available option is Image sequence. I'm having a technical question with a customers Revit Architecture 2012. The project he's working on is about 90 Megabytes in size, and the references are about 60MB. He is storing these on a network share. Unfortunately they are still on a 100MBit network. As Workstation he is using a DELL Precision M6500 (notebook) with the following specs:
when he is trying to zoom in on and out of this project, he is experiencing high waiting time between the zoom-steps, sometimes unbearably long. As the notebook is brandnew and tested I didn't blame it on faulty hardware. So I suggested to run the same Project on a different machine.
I don't know much about the software architecture of Revit Architecture, so i don't know which hardware component is mostly stressed when zooming in and out (guessing the gfx, because the project needs to be recalculated?). I guess there lies the bottleneck. The customer requested an answer, which hardware needs to be exchanged / upgraded in order to accelerate the zoom-steps, decrease the latency.

We typically extend steel stringers past the bottom tread to the point where truncating yeilds a 4" vertical edge. This is done to match adjacent 4" high baseboard. I understand that the sketch lines can be extended BUT can it be done with this precision?
Is this beyond the capabilites of Revit?

Rendering at high quality, exterior sun only, 150 DPI and the image is about 9' tall x5' wide. Everything goes great until it hits 26%. Then the bar goes full on 100% but the image is only 26% rendered.
I have a 2gb video card, 4.1Ghz overclocked processor and about 8GB of RAM. Perhaps I havn't allocated enough memory to render an image of this size?

I'm new user of REVIT Architecture for approximately one month, and I am very disappointed about quality renderings.
I am looking for a realistic 3D rendering engine, which would be fairly simple to use because I do not want a complicated software such as 3DS MAX software.I would also like a software as compatible as possible with REVIT, ie that file sharing should be simple without having to recreate the materials and textures in the rendering software.I have heard the following software:
BLENDERVRAYMAXWELLLUMIONARTLANTISCan you give me your opinion on this software when compared to their QUALITY RENDERING / EASE OF USE ?

I have just loaded Revit 2014, and then loaded a project file created in Revit 2013. When I try to render a view in the cloud I get an error message that says "The file could not be translated.-1" I have tried this with several projects and get the same error for all.
However if i create a new project in 2014 the render works fine, it only seams to be a problem when I upgrade a project from revit 2012 or 2013.

I am using Revit 2013 and I am rendering in the Cloud and my renderings are not turning out as well as I want them to. I was wondering what the intial settings under the graphics should be? like what shadows I should use? how high the exposure should be? Even when I turn the sun completely off the sun still shows through the windows. My renderings are also showing up grainy.

why my interior rendering scenes just show up black. I have opened up projects from previous releases that I was able to get interior scenes to render correctly and they render fine in 2013. I've imported the modified fixtures to the current projects file and they still don't do anything. The scene I'm talking about has a ceiling modeled on the underside of a floor. I've read this may be an issue, but my light fixtures light source is to be 1/4" above the plane of the ceiling. In my case, it's a 5/8" layer of drywall.
