View 1 Replies View RelatedOften as a sole user of Revit when I open a project I have been working on I get the following message:
"This file is already open for editing by another user. You will be unable to save any changes before that user closes the file."
Since I am the only one working on the project there are no other users and as far as I can tell no other files open. Any insight into what has triggered this message?

I have been suggesting to users to use the worksharing options in the open project browser, but sometimes for some people habits are hard to break, do I need to be concerned?
I've been doing some looking and can't find anything. It looks like you can't do it but is there a way to convert a 3D .dwg to an .rvt file?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to know how people are labeling or taging the "parts" of their construction, like walls. I want to be able to tag the parts so that a description of the part is pulled from the material so a change to the material affects all lables and tags.
The 2 problems I am running into
1. in a 3D mode I cannot use a materials tag, and so have to rely on a Tag by Category, which limits me to the material name. I want to be able to refer to any of the properties in the material identity tag.
2. In a section or plan view, I can use a material tag, so I can refer to Description, Comments Keywords, etc, but the tags keep going blank and need to be "reloaded" anytime I change anything in the view. If I change the crop boundary, change from Show Parts to Show Original and return to Show Parts, change scale, anything; the tags return to ?. I have to select each tag and then click off of them for the parameters to be displayed; I feel like I am back in ADT with refresh and reload all.
Rendering at high quality, exterior sun only, 150 DPI and the image is about 9' tall x5' wide. Everything goes great until it hits 26%. Then the bar goes full on 100% but the image is only 26% rendered.
I have a 2gb video card, 4.1Ghz overclocked processor and about 8GB of RAM. Perhaps I havn't allocated enough memory to render an image of this size?
I have recently been informed that my Revit 2013 is not compatible with the classes that I am taking. I have installed Revit 2012, but my projects cannot be opened in 2012. Is there a better or a way at all to transfer these projects?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI built a basic facade system as a family in Revit 2012, but the materials won't stick. Every time I try to edit the family and assign a material, the material doesn't show up in the Revit file it's loaded into. Then, when I open the family back up to try editing it again, the material that I assigned to it five minutes ago is already reset to default, despite my saving and reloading it several times.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to export part of a structural model to IFC but Revit is exporting the complete model. My file is from a consultant and is created in Revit Structure 2011, I am opening it with Revit 2012. The model contains ‘new’ and ‘existing’ phases which appear to be set up correctly.
I have tried a couple of different methods set up a 3D view and defined it by phase 'new only' so the existing is hidden, and tried to export with the “current view only” checked and uncheckedset up a 3D view and defined it by workset using visibility graphics, and again with the “current view only” checked and uncheckedEach time when I open the Model in Navisworks or Solibri everything is visible.Have tried this in both Struct and Arch with the same result, but I do not have the same issue if I open and export from Revit 2011 (arch) ?
I'm new to Revit and have a question about quickshifting between 2D og 3D view. I have managed to assign a hotkey for 3D view, but I can't figure out how to assign a hotkey for returning to the view I was in before the 3D view. I know that you can double click the level you want to go to, but I want to use the mouse as little as possible.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project with over 20 models that were all upgraded from Revit 2012 to Revit 2014. Once upgraded, I was able to reload all the Revit links and see these links in views, as I should. Later the same day, when opening a new local file, I am unable to open a view after loading a link without Revit freezing. Not crashing, but freezing... the application says "Not Responding", the memory allocation is unchanged in the Window's processes, and the journal file is no longer being written to. I thought maybe this is just taking a long time to process, but 1) it didn't take this long to open the view with the loaded link when it was first successful, and 2) I've left it for hours without change.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are still on Revit 2012 and from my understanding, there were some improvements in the way Revit exports to CAD files. I'm sure most of you would agree that the export to AutoCAD feature is still a long way off. I wanted some opinions on my thoughts on how to minimize some of the errors that I recieve when I open the exported CAD files.
My problems really pertain to linetypes and hatch patterns. If I do not map any of the patterns to a standard AutoCAD linetype or hatch pattern file, then I get an error reading pattern message if I want to check out the pattern in AutoCAD. I am very inclined to wipeout all of the standard fill patterns and linestyles in Revit and make new ones based on the standard AutoCAD lines and hatches. Does this seem reasonable?
I recently tried exporting an FBX file from Revit 2012 in to another 3d software as well as the FBX converter. On both occassions, the materials don't show up, nor the textures.
