View 1 Replies View RelatedI am struggling in using the Polygon Tool to create a Hexagon, for some reason the only type of polygon that is preset is the star which I can create with as many sides that I want. But I don't want to do a star, I want to create a 5 sided polygone, or even 6 sided polygon, I basically want to create a hexagon!
But initially I managed to get a hexagon, for some reason I can't get it to do it anymore!
Can someone tell me where I can set which type of polygon i want to create?
I am using photoshop CS.
For some reason, my magnetic lassoo has stopped working (magnetically). I've altered the settings but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Any clues? The other lassoos work ok.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I use the Poloygon Lasso Tool, both my CPUs are pegged at 100%. When I switch tools, it goes back down to the normal 1-5% on each CPU.
This makes the selection all slow and jerky, thus making it impossible to work with this tool.
Anyone know what the issue is?

Here’s the problem: Polygon Lasso decides to close the selection FOR NO REASON AT RANDOM.

Let me clarify that I am an advanced Photoshop user (certified expert by Adobe). I know all Photoshop tools inside and out and this is DEFINITELY not user error. Photoshop CC is glitching and it needs to be fixed. Thing is, this only started for me very recently; within the last few weeks. (Kinda close to when I updated to Mavericks on my mac but I’m not sure that has anything to do with it) Â
Â
To re-iterate, this is NOT a double-clicking issue or anything done wrong by me. Making lots of small lassos joined by the shift key is also NOT a solution. Switching to the pen tool is also NOT a solution because my workflow depends on the speed of the lasso tool.
I'm trying to use the Create Polygon tool. My problem is that when I click to create a polygon I don't see anything. I can keep clicking and clicking to create points, which it apparently IS creating, but I don't see anything until I switch through one of the View types (wire frame, shaded, etc.).
I know I'm supposed to see the verts the second I click but that's not what I'm getting, it's more like I need to just go through the motions of blindly creating my shape, change views, and then edit the resulting verts and edges later.
Sometimes when i want to add an edge between two others edges, the tool just does not create a new edge and I don't see any error popping. Some other time, it will create an edge but it's not going to place it where I wanted it to be. I would like to know how I could fix this problem and or what should i change in the option box.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm following a tutorial in 2012 (Modelling a polygonal mesh) which states 'Select Edit Mesh > Split Polygon Tool'. There is no such tool listed in the Edit Mesh drop down and I can't find it anywhere.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting for extruding polygons so it doesnt leave the original polygon.
When i extrude a polygon into a 3D solid, it extrudes fine but it also keeps the original polygon which means i have to delete it?
I am a newbie, and doing the helmet tutorial. It is asking me to go to the edit mesh menu and select the split polygon tool. It isn't there. where is it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am building some geometry and need to fill in this area, (ie fill hole with polygons then clean up with split polygon tool) but I am new to nurbs and am trying to do this model with nurbs. I usually use hull mode and move the hull down into the piece of geometry, but it won't move correctly that way.
So in the picture below i am trying to fill the red area and have it go into the green surface. The curvature of the green area makes it not line up correctly(ie fitting to the curvature of the green surface) when using the "moving hulls" approach. I was seeing if there was an easy way to go about this.
I made all my polygons with the same technique but somehow interactive polygon split tool does not split all polygons... I attached a file with which I have problem. Split tool just "disappears" after submitting changes...Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just cannot move any polygon that I've created using the Polygon Tool. After making polygons, I ensured they had not been locked and selected the Move Tool to move them to no avail.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI usually distort my image with the classic skew, rotate, scale... tools but
that time I really need to deform the image along a path.
So I want to draw a path (selection) and distort the image along it.
When I am in an image, selecting an area with the polygon lasso tool, every time I click a point, the image blanks out and does not redraw. I am left with my pologon selection lines and a white image where the photo should be. The only way to get the image back is to force it to scroll. I have to extend the tool off one side of the image or another to make it scroll. Otherwise the screen does not redraw. I am forced to work with my images in a window instead of fullscreen to ensure that I have part of the image to scroll to when the image blanks out. It is doing this with every click of the polygon lasso tool. Needless to say, this is maddening! Has anyone seen this behavior before? I am running Adobe Photoshop CS3 on Windows XP and the program is up to date. I have two gigs of ram and have moved up the memory allocated to Photoshop from half to two thirds. I have stopped having other programs opened. I also tried turning off the preference for the 3D graphics acceleration. So far nothing has worked to fix the problem. I have about 1100 product photos to clip out -
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do not understand why whenever I go to select the rectangle/polygon(or other similar tools) sometimes-in the options bar-the path functions(subtract from area, add to shape area etc) are NOT available.

The one who is always available is the "create new shape layer".
So Im trying to make a star wars racer. Im currently making the shell of the engine and for some reason a single polygon deletes outside of a selection. Its weird because I shift click the polygons i wanna delete to delete all of them in a line so i dont have to delete 1 by 1 and for some reason that 1 polygon outside of that strip deletes too.
Im new to 3ds so how to add that polygon back? It was too far back for me to simply undo this so I need a way of attaching a new polygon onto that object.
Heres a screenshot, its that red bit missing.
include a polygon with desired form into existing polygon? There is a box (Editable Poly) and text (Editable Poly). What I need is to make text polygon part of upper polygon of the box (and to extrude it inside). I can do it by other means, just curious. Guess "including" is not correct term for what I ask
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust purchased as graphics card and having problems setting it up but then I'm not that good at understanding the necessary set up to get rid of the edge. Much rather model with just polygons.
3DS Max 2011. When in to customize > Prefetence Settings > Viewports. Adjusted the drivers to OpenGL and the picture I am using to model becomes so distorted that I'm unable to use it. So if I use Direct3D, DirectX 10.0, the picture shows the fine however I end up with the edge showing through the polygons which bothers me. Is there a way to get rid of the edge going to the polygon or do I have to just put up with it.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have made a cube, and given a basic cube UV map. The material I want is a standard 2D map (say noise). The problem is that each face gets the same pattern of noise. I would have the same result if I had a basic bitmap as the material.
My solution has been to make a Multi-Sub material, and then use a different noise seed for each side of the cube. This works fine, but it makes it time consuming to do something like change the color of the cube (as I would have to edit 5/6 materials).
So, I am asking, is there a way to either make the UV behave as if each face was part of the same "thing" (spread one noise map over the image/stretch the bitmap). Perhaps make an object use multiple materials (or something like that), so that I can have a Multi-Sub for a greyscale noise, and then a basic color that I can change to effect all of the sides at once.
How can I extrude or bevel a cicle from a square polygon? I tried the inset too but the only makes another polygon inside the original. Also I am using the student version of Max, if that makes any difference. I do however have access to the full version of Max at my University.

I am about to implement an algorithm that takes a point and gives minimal polygon that contains it. (or null, be there no such polygon) Observing the hatch command, one would think there is already functionality that covers this. But I fail to get on its track.
