I am struggling in using the Polygon Tool to create a Hexagon, for some reason the only type of polygon that is preset is the star which I can create with as many sides that I want. But I don't want to do a star, I want to create a 5 sided polygone, or even 6 sided polygon, I basically want to create a hexagon!
But initially I managed to get a hexagon, for some reason I can't get it to do it anymore!
Can someone tell me where I can set which type of polygon i want to create?
I'm trying to use the Create Polygon tool. My problem is that when I click to create a polygon I don't see anything. I can keep clicking and clicking to create points, which it apparently IS creating, but I don't see anything until I switch through one of the View types (wire frame, shaded, etc.).
I know I'm supposed to see the verts the second I click but that's not what I'm getting, it's more like I need to just go through the motions of blindly creating my shape, change views, and then edit the resulting verts and edges later.
how to change the "corner radius" for the shape tool's polygon tool. I set it to 6 sides and with SMOOTHED CORNERS off, it creates a hexagon as expected. But if I turn on SMOOTHED CORNERS, it almost makes a circle, the corners are excessively rounded. I see no option to control how smoothed/rounded these corners are.
When I lower this to 3 sides, I can see PS is heavily rounding the corners. At this point, I simply don't think there's an option to do what I want here. I know in AI, you can hold the arrow keys to add/remove corners and increase/decrease rounded corners, but PS CS5 doesn't seem to support that.
I want to do something similar to what is in the attached file, where the numeral 4 has been obtained using filled circles, with the size of circles increasing as the closeness to the numeral, and the biggest circles within the numeral.
I want to create a big shape (say a hexagon) using some text (say 1's) repetitively. i want this done in such a way that the 1's within the hexagon are the boldest, and those outside have varying thickness, with the farthest 1's being the thinnest.
how to get the Polygon Lasso tool on my Mac version of Photoshop 12.1 (CS5)? It's on my PC version of the program, but I can't find it anywhere on my Mac version.
Here’s the problem: Polygon Lasso decides to close the selection FOR NO REASON AT RANDOM.
Let me clarify that I am an advanced Photoshop user (certified expert by Adobe). I know all Photoshop tools inside and out and this is DEFINITELY not user error. Photoshop CC is glitching and it needs to be fixed. Thing is, this only started for me very recently; within the last few weeks. (Kinda close to when I updated to Mavericks on my mac but I’m not sure that has anything to do with it)
To re-iterate, this is NOT a double-clicking issue or anything done wrong by me. Making lots of small lassos joined by the shift key is also NOT a solution. Switching to the pen tool is also NOT a solution because my workflow depends on the speed of the lasso tool.
Sometimes when i want to add an edge between two others edges, the tool just does not create a new edge and I don't see any error popping. Some other time, it will create an edge but it's not going to place it where I wanted it to be. I would like to know how I could fix this problem and or what should i change in the option box.
I'm following a tutorial in 2012 (Modelling a polygonal mesh) which states 'Select Edit Mesh > Split Polygon Tool'. There is no such tool listed in the Edit Mesh drop down and I can't find it anywhere.
I used to use lightwave. With lightwave I could select vertices and then press the "P" key to create a polygon from the selected verts. Now, with max I have found the "create" feature. When using an editable poly, in poly select mode, I select the "create" button and this allows me to do 2 things:
1 - I can create a poly out of nothing by clicking empty space
2 - all verts from existing objects become visible and I select the verts I want to create a new poly.
These seem like really cool tools, if it wasn't for one small detail..With "#2" if I engage the create button, and select a vert - I can no longer rotate around the object and look at it from different angles (by pressing alt+center mouse) UNTIL AFTER I have created the new polygon.
This small detail is kind of annoying because with certain intricate models, I may need to move it around to get to the next vert in line. The only way for it to work, it to make sure I can clearly see ALL verts needed for the new poly with no other geometry or objects obscuring them before starting the create button.
Is it not possible to simply go into "vert selection mode" select a collection of verts (in doing so, be able to rotate around the object between making the selections) and then after I have made my selections simply click a button or key to create a new polygon from the selection?
I am self taught and only using maya for about 3 months now but the situation where an object that needed many small holes has caused me some problems 3 times now.
In the current situation I am essentially modeling a CPU and a CPU socket. there is ~240 pins on the cpu and that will connect with the socket where there should be 240 holes to match.
The only method I know is boolean difference but that causes the entire polygon cube to disappear instead of creating a hole in it.
what is another method for creating many small holes? another example is a piece of formed metal that has small holes in it for air vent.
I have a computer newly installed windows7 64bit,and installed map 3d 2012.with SP. when I was trying to create polygon with command "MPOLYGON" or "MAPLOLYLINETOPOLYGON",MAP3D crashed.it does not matter if the polygons have holes or not,the polygon can be created, but after 2 seconds or when I RIGHT CLICK to see quick menu,CAD crashed immidiately.
In previous versions I could create a flat polygon mesh by typing "3D" and have an option to create a planar mesh "M" X "N" by specifying the 4 corners along with M and N. I don't see a way to draw this mesh in 2012 without having to ID every vertices. This procedure is listed in the Legacy portion of Help, but I do not see a way to do it.
I am a newbie, and doing the helmet tutorial. It is asking me to go to the edit mesh menu and select the split polygon tool. It isn't there. where is it.
I am building some geometry and need to fill in this area, (ie fill hole with polygons then clean up with split polygon tool) but I am new to nurbs and am trying to do this model with nurbs. I usually use hull mode and move the hull down into the piece of geometry, but it won't move correctly that way.
So in the picture below i am trying to fill the red area and have it go into the green surface. The curvature of the green area makes it not line up correctly(ie fitting to the curvature of the green surface) when using the "moving hulls" approach. I was seeing if there was an easy way to go about this.
I'd like to run one command that allows the user to draw a polygon viewport then sets that VP to 1/8"=1'-0".
It can be nearly accomplished with a macro, but falls just short because the polygon vp requires an unknown number of clicks, so there is no way to know how many pauses for user input in the macro.
I would like to make this hexagon gif with 3 letters expanded Please take a look at the attachment. Could you fellas advise me please. I would like to have it with a trasparent bg.
