AutoCAD Map 3D :: How To Split Polygon
Nov 14, 2012How to split polygon?I am using "bpoly" function when I split the polygon but It's inconvenient. Any better way to split polygons?I go over the functions through help desk.

View 5 RepliesI made all my polygons with the same technique but somehow interactive polygon split tool does not split all polygons... I attached a file with which I have problem. Split tool just "disappears" after submitting changes...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI drew a solid model of a structure in Autocad 2010. By using that model, I want to make a FEM analysis in Sap2000. The problem is that Sap2000 takes only polygon meshes (not solids) in 3d. The question is that how can i make a group of polygon meshes of the solid model that represents the structure.
(Since i am not an expert of Autocad, i will be glad if the solution is explained in a simple language.)
Sometimes when i want to add an edge between two others edges, the tool just does not create a new edge and I don't see any error popping. Some other time, it will create an edge but it's not going to place it where I wanted it to be. I would like to know how I could fix this problem and or what should i change in the option box.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a model of gums and a set of teeth. What I am trying to do is create an animation where the fourth tooth back on each side of the upper gums disappear then create a blendshape causing the front teeth to move back and fill in the gaps as well as condense the gums so there isn't a gap here either. I am not exactly sure what the best way to do this would be, I am newer to Maya. My question is; Is there and easier way to do this because once I delete the faces and have a divides mesh I go to Mesh->Seperate and select Vertex mode on both and combine the meshes manually by selecting each vertex with the move tool and while holding "V" dragging the vertex over to the adjacent vertex on the opposite mesh. The issue im having is that the width of the mesh starts smaller upfront and progressivly gets bigger as you move to the back of the gums so by deleting a middle section the two meshes dont line up. The back mesh is much wider than the front. I am also worried that when i go to create a Blendshape to transition from the origional mesh to the new shortened one that will pull the teeth back to a perfect smile. I have heard that when creating a BS both meshes need to have the same number of Vertices and after removing a section mine wont. I am also concerned because after the two meshes have been sewn using this process I am left with an ugly point of intersection all the way around my mesh that has proven difficult to blend using the 'Sculpt Geometry Tool' with a falloff/Soft Mod.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIm supposed to connect them like they're displayed in the picture. I did both of them separately but i just did all four to show how i want them. Im supposed to connect those two but when i press enter when im done, it disappears. Then use the insert edge loop tool to make the neck line smaller.
Both Pictures are the same. The second one just has backface cullin under display
I'm following a tutorial in 2012 (Modelling a polygonal mesh) which states 'Select Edit Mesh > Split Polygon Tool'. There is no such tool listed in the Edit Mesh drop down and I can't find it anywhere.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am building some geometry and need to fill in this area, (ie fill hole with polygons then clean up with split polygon tool) but I am new to nurbs and am trying to do this model with nurbs. I usually use hull mode and move the hull down into the piece of geometry, but it won't move correctly that way.
So in the picture below i am trying to fill the red area and have it go into the green surface. The curvature of the green area makes it not line up correctly(ie fitting to the curvature of the green surface) when using the "moving hulls" approach. I was seeing if there was an easy way to go about this.
Is there a setting for extruding polygons so it doesnt leave the original polygon.
When i extrude a polygon into a 3D solid, it extrudes fine but it also keeps the original polygon which means i have to delete it?
Like as the image, there are dividing lines(yellow) in a region (red). How can I get each type of polygon with VBA?

I am about to implement an algorithm that takes a point and gives minimal polygon that contains it. (or null, be there no such polygon) Observing the hatch command, one would think there is already functionality that covers this. But I fail to get on its track.

I've MAP 3D 2013 64 bit (French version) with SP1.
When I launch command to "Convert polyline to polygon" (_MapPolylineToPolygon), I've message on command line "Select objetcs", I can convert to polygon =>OK
If I launched this command a second time, I've no possibility to select object, I come back to command line.I quit MAP, then launch MAP, and I can use this command only 1 time.
This problem appears after SP1 was applied.
I have a series of polylines with a global width of 5m which I want to export to a polygon shapefile to represent in GIS. I realised if I create a shapefile of the polylines and then create a buffer of 2.5m on either side I can create my desired polygon. My question is how do I export this polygon to a shapefile. I have tried bulk copy but this just seems to revert the buffer back to a polyline shapefile .

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhat I want to do basically is merge a couple of polylines (which have different widths and may overlap each other) together into a single 'shape'. I am calling it shape, but I think the correct term would be polygon.
The end result should ("from the outside") look the same as before merging, the only difference being that the polylines are now merged into one shape. Important note: it cannot be a polyline with segments of different width, I know AutoCAD supports this, but the drawing will be exported to a format which does not seem to support this (and the result then is a line with a single width - wrong).
Here's a mockup of what I want to achieve:
On the left are three polylines (PL1, 2, 3), where PL2 has a different width and overlaps the other two polylines. On the right is the desired result: a single polygon (NOT a polyline with variable width) in the same shape as the polylines.
Is there a simple way to import a polygon from a csv file? I have read about ascpoint.lsp, but as far as I could work out, this makes a polyline, not a polygon. A simplified example is that I want to draw a rectangle with points 0,0 and 10,5 (note there is no z-axis, i.e. it's all just 2D). How can I create this from a csv file? I am flexible as to the format of the csv, but for example it could be 0 0 10 5.
Without trying to overcomplicate things, it would also be useful if the colour could be defined in the same csv file (e.g. using a 5th column, or a second row) and that the polygons were automatically filled solid (as you could do by using the BHATCH command).
The main reason I ask is that I have some cel files containing polygons and lines, but I cannot import them into autoCAD directly (changing the extension to DGN and inserting it fails) possibly due to a weird/obsolete format, however, I can convert the cel file to a csv file and strip out the nonsense.
Making a hex head bolt. draw a 6 sides polygon. turn it into a region. extrude it a little bit. Then how do can you put a simple chamfer on one end?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to export some polygon shp files into CAD. What I can do easily is determine the line types, colors etc in the export but what I want to to is set the fill. Now I can't see how this is possible as the polygon features are converted to closed polylines in CAD and the hatch is a new feature.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently when I pick a grip at the end of a polygon line and type a length, the polygon goes to that length.
Is there a setting anywhere that changes this behavior to add the typed length to the polygon, hence stretching it to this new length. This would be the same as lengthen when drawing with lines.
I've 2 FDO Layer (polygon). Layer1 contains zoning and Layer2 contains small area. The goal is to merge all polygons (1 or more) of Layer2 into only 1 polygon in each zone of Layer1.
I can do an FDO Overlay (Identity) to copy ID of zone to Layer2, but I don't know (except manually) how to merge polygons with 1 common information.
Then I need to extrude it, but when I extrude, it's shallow. So this 2D polygon need to have face. I've tried 3DFACE but then I need to add faces manually. Is there any way to just specify this polygon and have it faced?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to create jon between point feature and polygon feature which is not attribute based, but only geometry based. When point is inside polygon can I create automatic join between point and polygon so I can use joined attribute data table.
I know i can create "object data records" links between enclosed text and polyline but i want to do same thing using SDF format points and polygons. Can it be done without converting point feature label to text and polygon to polyline and then creating automatic links and then again converting polylines with object data to SDF format.
