AutoCAD 2013 :: Dimension Displays As Polygon
Apr 30, 2013When I am trying to dimension a room in AutoCAD 2014 the dimension looks like a solid rectangle, with no text. I am dring in Architectual mode using the default template.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Extrude Polygon Creates Solid But Original Polygon Still There?
Aug 15, 2013Is there a setting for extruding polygons so it doesnt leave the original polygon.
When i extrude a polygon into a 3D solid, it extrudes fine but it also keeps the original polygon which means i have to delete it?
AutoCad 2D :: Annotative Dimension Displays
Jul 11, 2011Ok it seems that I may be overlooking something simple. This is what I am currently dong. I have a detail sheet with several different scales. I want to use annotative dimensions and mleaders so I don't have to create the many dimstyles for different scales.
My set up:imagine a model space with 4 squares reprsenting 4 different scales. I start annotating in 1"=1'-0". Then I go to another detail at 3/4" = 1'-0". When I change my scale using that item in the lower right my annotations in the 1"=1'-0" also changes. I don't want it to change I want it to stay at 1"-0". How can I make it stay at 1'=1'-0" regardless of whatever other scale I have switched to?

Jul 6, 2013I set a "limits" in my drawing(command "limits"-- "lower left corner is 0,0" --- upper right corner " is set as 20, 20--enter)
But then I moved my mouse horizontally and vertically on the screen, and found that the coordinate value at the bottom was from -25 on the left to 18 on the right, and from 0 at the bottom to 15 at the top. I am confused about what on earth does that limit? should it be 20 in length and 20 in width?
AutoCAD 2013 :: Font Color Is Not What It Displays
Sep 2, 2012I designed our compny logo by draing a design and including text using AutoCAD 2013. I kept everything in black and it cam out great. I used concemptual and was able to print the logo in PDF and PNG in high resoultion with the black color. I recently had to unistall and re-install my software, but now when I open up our logo, the font color is gray instead of black. This is the same for the model space, viewport, and print-outs. All of the views are the same as before, as well adn the set color to black.

Oct 3, 2012I have an addin which has an icon for a button. In Inventor 2012 it displays fine. In Inventor 2013 the icon appears to be enlarged by about 4x, and only the top left corner of the icon is visible. The api clearly states that Inventor will scale the image to size.
This is the C# code I'm using to load the icon. The icon is in my resources file.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Polygon Stretch To New Length
Aug 13, 2013Currently when I pick a grip at the end of a polygon line and type a length, the polygon goes to that length.
Is there a setting anywhere that changes this behavior to add the typed length to the polygon, hence stretching it to this new length. This would be the same as lengthen when drawing with lines.

Jan 9, 2013Then I need to extrude it, but when I extrude, it's shallow. So this 2D polygon need to have face. I've tried 3DFACE but then I need to add faces manually. Is there any way to just specify this polygon and have it faced?

how to make a polygon mesh? what is the function called? I've tried MESH but i don't think its the same thing.

Oct 28, 2013After upgrading from 2013 to 2014 we have a few drawings that had profiles created in 2013 and now when we open the drawing in 2014 the profile view disappears and so we regen and then we get a fatal error. I ran an audit and there are no errors, I re-sycronized the surfaces, i also ran an audit on all the xreferences.

Oct 18, 2013We are having an issue with profile grid shooting off to the left of 0+00 rather than starting at 0+00 and stopping at the end of the profile. There is nothing in the settings that I can find that is telling the grid to extend close to 2000' to the left. Three of the four profiles are doing this. One of them displays correctly, but there are no differences that we can find in the settings.

Oct 7, 2012when I draw a shape and add a dimension to it, the text and the numerical and the arrows of the dimension are small, so I have to increase the text height manually
how can I make it automatically scale itself?
also similiar thing with the lines, I tried putting a dashed center line on a shape, it looks solid but when I zoom it it does not.

I’m wondering why I got exclamation mark (!) with the dimensions! I wanted to get rid of them but sounds that there is now way to achieve that. I tried to right click the exclamation mark (!) and choose the “reassociate” but with no effect!

AutoCAD 2013 :: Dimension Primary Units
Apr 9, 2013We are having an issue with Dimensioning and the Primary Units not maintaining the correct value. We use metric so the multiplier of 25.4 or .039370079 for Dim Scale Linear would be used in our Dimension Styles depending on if we are drawing in model space or annotating in paper space. We have created specific Dim Styles for Model and Paper space. Every so often some of us will us the Dim Style for paper space and a metric unit would be shown. When we go into the properties of that dimension and change the Dim Scale Linear to 1 it shows as a different dimension then it actually is. After looking at the correct dimenion, we noticed the Dim Scale Linear shows .9449 but gives the correct dimension.
Note: We are drawing in Metric a multiplier of 25.4, our dimensions are done in english. A scale factor of .039370079 is used to accomplish this.
There is a simple fix with Match Properties but it still doesn't answer why our dimension show up wrong with a different multiplier for Dim Scale Linear.

Jan 22, 2013I used direct-distance entry to place the dimensions 3/8 away from the object lines... needless to say, while most horizontal dimensions are 3/8 away, the vertical and inclined dimensions are not. see attached. other than creating construction geometry and physically moving the endpoints of the arrows to the correct location, is there any way of getting this precise and correct the first time i do it?

Mar 31, 2013Associative property of the dimension,I’m wondering if there is a way to “reassociate” the dimension without moving it.
For example, in the attached screenshots, the dimension is moved downward and then it aimed to re associate it with the object it measures. After the association the dimension is moved toward the object. What I wanted is to re associate the dimension to the object BUT to keep it at its current location.

Jun 2, 2012I am trying to dimension a line that is not parallel to either they x or y axis. When i try to demsion the line it will only let me dimension the vertical or horizonal component and not the diagonal length. I have included a picture of what I am reffering to.

Nov 6, 2013I am used to entering my fillet radius dimensions in the command line with [F]illet, [R]adius, then entering a value.
However with 2014 an extra prompt has been added (or enabled) which would mean the path was [F]illet, [D]imension, [Radius], value. I was getting frustrated with this and tried fiddling with the settings ([F]illet, [S]ettings) but could not sort it, and now when I do go to enter a dimension the only option I am left with is to "Select fillet arc", meaning I have lost the ability to enter a value in the command line.
How do I regain the ability to enter a numerical value for a radius?

Aug 20, 2013I just made an object, specifically, a rectangle with 6 units of height and 30 of long. Now I want to write text in the middle of the rectangle, I was able o find the middle point using osnap and a diagonal line (the point would be 3 units of height and 15 of long) but when I start writing text (with dtext) the text starts writing from that middle point to the right, If its a long text its not in the middle it starts in the middle :/ what can I do so the text will be exactly at the center?

May 31, 2013I'm having a dimensioning problem, and it doesn't seem to matter if it something I have created or something a customer has sent to me.
When I attempt to dimension a circle, I get the following error message:
Select arc or circle: Object selected is not an arc, circle or polyline arc segment.
A few days back, I got this error message, and when I came in the next morning, I was able to dimension the circle.

Jun 24, 2013Trying to place this dimension text. Is there any circumstance that someone would want the leader to be the final result of this animation?
Of all the ways to generate a leader (when the correct one to the center of the dim can't be generated), the extremely acute angle version doesn't seem like the best option.
