AutoCAD 2013 :: Solid Dimension Numbers?
Oct 2, 2013I want to make my dimension numbers SOLID.
They are currently just an outline..see attached.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Create Viewport Of Solid In Layout And Dimension Inside And Outside Diameters
Aug 8, 2012Having trouble with diameter and radial dimensions since upgrading to 2013.
For example, draw two concentric circles and Presspull (or Extrude and Subtract) so that you get a hollow cylinder. Then create a viewport of this solid in a layout, and try to dimension the inside and outside diameters.
One of the two dimensions will work properly (seems to vary which one). The other will magically "jump" when placed (ex. the OD dimension will jump and become the ID, or vice versa).
How to resolve this? Our guys are having to do absurd things like redrawing the circle in paper space and dimensioning to it with a scale factor. Is this some sort of 2013 bug, or a setting?

Mar 13, 2012I'm currently learning Inventor and going through the tutorials. At present I am learning about drawings. For some reason the scale (e.g 1:1) and dimension numbers do not appear in the drawings. I can see the arrows that make the dimensions but that is all. How to turn these on? I have tried every setting I can find but it appears that I can't figure this out.

Aug 12, 2013I have finally created the shell of the complex surface that you see. This is only a section of the part because I cannot show the whole thing for proprietary reasons. I formed solid surfaces using the network command. The propblem is that it will not convert to a solid because the surface seams are not "water tight." When the network command created the solid surfaces, the surface seams do not exactly match the lines so there are gaps in all the seams. I have tried blending, patching, etc. and nothing works. how to convert this to a solid without losing the outlines and the shape?

Apr 16, 2012I have an opportunity to make a good impression at a new job, but ive never had the initiative to learn how to write a lisp routine. at my work we make walk-in coolers and freezers. these coolers are modular with a standard wall piece measuring a certain length. these wall sections have to be numbered sequentially. is there any way to automate this? sometimes we get change order from the client and it means going back and manually changing multiple texts (sometimes in the hundreds), but i thought if there was a way these wall sections could be scheduled somehow that when a new wall panel is inserted in the beginning of the sequence it would update everything after it automatically.

Dec 13, 2012i am having a hatching issue, it seems no matter what hatch pattern i use and what hatch scale, alot of the hatch looks solid instead of the pattern i want, for example i am using currently ANSI37 @ Annotative with a scale of .20 and on the same paperspace page one plan with the hatch shows the cross hatching and the other one below looks solid (see attached) now i can go and say change the hatch scale and it reverts to the cross hatching, but then when i zoom out it goes back to "solid" is it a graphical issue?

I have another file open and that dim ticks are filled.
I have imported the dim string into the one that does not work and still nothing.

Nov 21, 2013I've got this job at the moment, tasked with producing a 3D solid to dimension the proportions of a light-weight frame for a facade canopy/awning.
The process is to take the facade designer's wire frame model and produce a series of 3D solids 'SHELLED' to various thicknesses.
So, to begin with... I would like to pick a few brains about what method you would use to produce a 3D solid from the wire frame (which I have traced with polylines, and produced surfaces for each facet). Eventually I intend to SHELL the solid to contract 1.2mm and 28mm.

Up to now, I had just been creating cubes and slicing them to each facet of the shape... which was fine, but this shape is a bit more complicated than the previous ones.

Mar 4, 2013Constructing a grid (centers) with letters and numbers,I follow to set a grid for a plan (All what I need here is a lisp file that provides serial numbers and letters for the grid):
-Grid (centers) are provided to the existing columns
-Circles are plot at the end of these centers to accommodate labels
-Numbers & letters labels are provided
-Numbers and letters are edited to put them in serial order. Here is the issue, as serial number and letter is done manually, then this is a source for errors!
The attached lisp file does do this sort of work but doesn’t allow choosing the direction of numbering lettering! In the same plan, if I need to have the numbers to start from right (instead of starting from left) then this is impossible using that lisp. This is the only part of the code that needs to be enhanced. Also, the “auto number” command does the same thing but work with numbers bit not for letters.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Balloon Numbers Don't Match BOM Item Numbers
Feb 20, 2012I am trying to link my parts list to a drawing however all balloons have different numbers.
I open the assembly and check everything out from vault I open my bom and change item numbers. When I get back to my drawing and apply for auto balloon I get completely different item numbers in my balloons. We just updated our software to a new 2012 version so it's maybe something with set up.

AutoCAD 2013 :: 2D Solid Only Showing As A Frame
Oct 9, 2013I have a user who has been using certain solids for years with no problems but now having one.
These are simple flat object types "solid" objects that are simple direction arrows. If I print it from model space they are filled in. If I look at it and/or print it from paper space (in a viewport) it shows up only as an outline of the arrow.
FILLMODE is set to 1, have tried 0 also, doesn't change anything.

Jun 1, 2013I'm using ACAD 2014 Win8 64bit.
I need to slice a cylinder with a surface but the slice command keeps giving error " Inconsistent face-body relationships".
I created the surface from a solid that I created using solid intercept between the cylinder and another solid that the cylinder actually passes through (a housing I have). In my attachment I do not include the housing, just the cylinder, the solid intercept and the surface from the a face of the solid intercept.
I tried increasing the U & V isolines of the surface, and scaling it up so that it isn't bounded by the cylinder, but that didn't work.
I'm willing to try any technique that achieves the same goal - I need the butt of the cylinder to contour to the housing so that I can do a JOIN and have a solid housing with a cylinder sticking out of its face. The inside of the housing is hollow with a 0.05 inch wall.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Freeze When Cursor Goes Over 3D Solid
Dec 3, 2012Everything works fine until the center of my cursor passes over a 3d solid, the cursor then disappears, the spinning circle icon spins for sometimes minutes, and the display greys over, and I cannot click 'ESC' or Ctrl + C to abort this cycling. I have to wait, sometimes 30 secs, sometimes 2 minutes for it to stop freezing and the screen returns to normal.
As I work in 3d solids a lot, this makes Acad 2013 unusable to me. Acad 2007 was not an issue with this problem I still have it installed as I have to revert back to 2007 to do anything with 3d solids in it.

Feb 28, 2013I decided to try at making myself a 3d D20 in AutoCAD 2013 and have run into MANY problems. I have slowly chipped away at them, but I still have one issue, I am having issues turning my 20 regions (faces) into one solid.

Oct 14, 2013If I modify a 3D solid and it is left with two seperate pieces it is still one solid piece, even though there are two parts. My question is: What if only need one of those two sides? If I explode the object and delete the one side I cannot change the remaining object into a 3D solid. It remains as surface object.

This prevents other "downstream" software from properly importing the file as a DXF. Thus far the ONLY work-around I have found is to open the DXF in AutoCAD, Explode the polylines, and then re-save as a DXF from AutoCAD.
