Illustrator :: How To Make A Spiral Coil
Jan 29, 2014without the "laminated iron core". So what I need to know is how to make those spiral shapes. I tried using some tools but it was pretty hard to do by hand so it actually looked good.

Sep 25, 2012Is there a way to unfold a coil shape to get the flat pattern? When I try to unfold the attached part I get an error message (see attached error_msg.jpg). We have been using AutoPOL to unfold these kind of shapes (which works fine). But since we have a very old version which we really need to upgrade, I was wondering if nowadays Inventor could handle coil unfolds.
If this will not work with the current IV2013 release, will this then be implemented in a future release? Are there any alternatives or should I just go for the AutoPOL upgrade?

May 12, 2011The 'saying' I am trying to create in a spiral format is 165 characters and spaces. I have pasted it into the spiral effects text box. It will only accept 65 characters in the text box.
If I use the circle effect, I can paste all 165 characters and spaces and the circle adjusts to the size where the entire saying fits into one circle.
How do I expand the amount of characters and spaces the spiral text box will accept and use to create the text image I want?

Feb 26, 2014I have some text spiraling inward along a path (about 20 words). How can I make the individual words (or characters) fade as they near the center of the spiral (while leaving new words at the start of the path at their full opacity until they too reach the center)? I've played with various parameters (including start, end, and offset - and opacity) and have come close, but can't quite get it - and after completing spiral, text sometimes becomes opaque again and heads off at tangent to last segment of spiral.

Sep 16, 2012I've draw a blue spiral surface and I got to place text along this black hub line, so it should look as text is printed on blue spiral (perspective and all).I had an idea to outline text, narrow it on one end (to achive perspective) and make pattern brush. But it's pretty hard to tweak path to look realistic (somewhere text is wide and somewhere is narrow, and looks messy).

I have all of the helixs made to replicate the wire wrapping around the bobbin of the coil but i cannot figure out how to get the helixs to blend together smoothly.
