View 2 RepliesI'm trying to edit some scans of some drawings in Photoshop CS3, but I can't edit much. I think it might be a 16 bit TIFF, but I can't change to 8 bit. The option is completely grayed out, along with many others.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a copy of Elements and have never used it before. Most of my features (such as layers etc) are grayed out. However, my "covert to 8bit/channel" option is grayed out and I can't work out how to choot in 8-bit or how to covert my 24 bit photos to 8-bit.
View 12 Replies View RelatedWe are rendering raster passes in cg which need to be added together to reassemble a beauty render. The layer blending mode being used is linear dodge. There is a dramatic difference in the result in 32bit mode compared to 8bit mode.We normally work with adobergb1988 color workspace.
What is the math being used in 8bit mode with the adobergb colorspace? The problem is similar with sRGB profile. If set up a linear color workspace icc the 8bit mode behaves just like 32bit mode. However no one in our facility nor our clients wants to work with a custom linear icc profile.I would like to preprocess the layers while in 32bit mode to compensate for the gamma space processing of sRGB or adobeRGB color profiles in 8bit mode.Ive tried simply using a exposure node with gamma 2.2 but this is clearly not right.
When I use the 8bit mode in PsCS3, I notice some banding when using tools such as gradient map. When using 16bit mode, the banding is not so noticeable but it seems to increase file size.So which bit mode should I use for creating images for the web?
View 4 Replies View Relatedinvolving the choice of creating a new image with 8bit or 16bit color depth.
If I'm about to create a new logo or image of some sort my first impulse is to use the highest of the 2 (8 or 16).
I know it has to do with the amount of color information in each pixel so I grab at the highest number... is that impulse reasonable? Striving for the highest quality? Or is there a point of diminishing "perceivable" results?
I have also noticed that some 3rd party filters do not work when in the 16bit mode so that "might" be a drawback I suppose.
Also - I can set my monitor to 32bit color - and do - yet PS stops at 16bit... what is the reason for this please?
I've read all over that the filter only works with an 8bit/RGB file, which my file is, so I don't understand what the problem is. I am attempting to light a smart object (3d bevel and extruded text) that I created in illustrator, and thought that I might just need to rasterize the smart object before the filter would work, but even after I render it and or flatten the image, merge visible, I still don't have the option to use lighting effects!
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy normal workflow consists of opening RAW files in ACR, making adjustments, then moving on to Photoshop where I apply retouching and build clipping paths. I then save the file as an 8bit TIFF. I rarely reopen these 8bit TIFFs again, but when I did so recently what I encountered was not what I expected.
My Photoshop (CS6) is opening 8bit TIFF files as Camera Raw when selected by "right click" followed by "Open with Photoshop CS6". I remember being able to open 8bit TIFF files directly in Photoshop, but I think this change has occurred since installing CS6.
Again, files in question began as 16bit Raw files, but were worked on in Photoshop CS6 (retouching) and saved with clipping paths. This would reduce them to 8bit files. When placed in page layout, clipping paths work properly, confirming that paths are intact.
When I want to open the files again - say from Bridge or a Finder window - by the method "right click - Open with Photoshop CS6", the file is opened first in Camera Raw, and then in Photoshop, and the path(s) is missing.I can open these TIFF files and access Paths but only if I locate and select the file from within Photoshop (File/ Open.../). The Open window gives "Format" as Camera Raw (which it isn't, having been saved as 8bit file). If I override format to "TIFF", the file opens with clipping path shown.
I'm aiming to take RAW photo files, edit them in a wide color space, and when posting them to the web, save them as sRGB.
My workspace is as follows:
I open RAW files in Photoshop via ACR as 16-bit ProPhoto smart objects. When I finish editing them, I use "Save for Web" with the "Convert to sRGB" and "Embed Color Profile" boxes checked.
Photoshop and Bridge tell me the profile in photos saved as such is sRGB as expected. When I upload to a site like flickr, however, the metadata says the photo is still in ProPhoto. See an example here: [URL]...If I use "Convert to Profile" and change it to sRGB, then upload to flickr, the metadata says the photo is in sRGB, as it should be.
I am using Photoshop CS6. I am unable to save a 8bit tiff or psd file as a jpeg. When I choose JPEG format .iff is attached to the file. When I open the same file in CS5 it works correctly. Whichever format I attempt to save as it selects the suffix for the format above. I have downloaded again but no change.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using a windows CS6 Bridge => Camera Raw (8.2) => CS6 Photoshop (13.0.1 x64) to try to open various 16-bit raw files (.dng, .nef, .arw) which Bridge sees as 16-bit, but only an 8-bit version makes it into photoshop.
How do I convince Camera Raw to do its job?
Lightroom (4.4) is able to export a 16-bit .psd which sort-of-works but shouldn't be necessary.
I finished editing my panorama in adobe photoshop elements 11 and want to add a filter to it, however, the filters are all greyed out. Not only that, but the 8bit/channel option is also greyed out. The picture is RGB/8.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using VS11But, I have just bought a new camera, a Panasonic HC V500. A small section of the info on the camera are the following lines:- 2D-to-3D Conversion. The camera processing engine automatically converts your 2D footage to 3D without the need for the optional 3D lens, to then be able to view on your 3D TV for an enhanced viewing experience.
Progressive Video Format for Smooth Action. The Full HD format employed in this model uses 1080/50p (AVCHD Progressive compliant) imaging. The Progressive format carries roughly double the image information of a 1080i interlace signal, minimising flickering and after-images.
As I edit and convert all my video footage into movies, will the latest VS programme retain the 3D conversion ability/facility, if so, what is the latest (or best) VS edition to purchase.
I don't know what is going on but it is getting on my nerves. I created an OBJ file for my Glock model that I'm working on and re-imported it into 3ds Max to remove any five sided polygons. 3ds Max fixes them automatically this way. This fixed model won't export as an editable mesh, it gets stuck on "preparing polymesh for poly export" and I have to ctrl/alt/del to shut the program down. After some research, a few boards say to change the mesh to a poly. Tried that and I have random black polygons appear and I don't know what to do to fix it. I've attached both the file and an image to this post. The glock on the left is my original model and the one on the right is the OBJ I imported to have four sided polys throughout.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to create seamless greyscale patterns in AI CS6 by using typical Vector-Tools, Gradients and Transparency.Output however needs to be 16Bit/Channel RGB - 256 greys are clearly not enough on the Gradients, they would lead to nasty artifacts in the intended field of use explanation here.I realize that AI is 8bit and that internal Image-Conversion from Vector clearly was no option. The underlying question for me is - does AI also internally work with just with 256 shades of grey in its gradients too?Or was there theoretically a way to pass smoother Vectors over to PS which in contrast to AI can save 16 bit Gradients? All I tried thus far (importing AI though Clipboard as Shape-Layers/Smart-Objects) yielded unusable results for what I'm after.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI have been finding some strange issues exporting out of Sp2 and now still the same in ext1. I set up some color bars and exported HD YUV files in 8bit and 10bit and found there to be a big shift in color and gamma when viewing on the waveform monitor (both smoke's waveform monitor, and an external waveform monitor on my reference OLED screen)Ive attatched screen grabs of the differences when ive imported the files back in and put them in a timeline.
The original internally generated color bars and the exported 10bit uncompressed file are the same but both uncompressed forms of 8bit (2vuy, and yuv2) are completely shifted - and it is not a YUV headroom issue.
When looking at the waveform you can see the steps in luminance seem to be very different - as though the RGB to YUV or YCbCr conversion has been done with a different calculation. Maybe the SDTV BT.601 vs HDTV BT.709 calculation. Gamma is not being shifted as shown by the gradient I have running accross the frame being mapped as a straight line 0-100 in the waveform.
Most other forms of an 8bit YUV file ive tested dont have this issue ( h264, DNxHD mxf's, xdcamHD422). Also ProRes of all flavours is fine, although these are 10 and 12bit.However I have another issure with exporting XDCAMHD422 files in that the length of the mxf is always shorter by 2-5 frames. This is was something I reported as a bug a few months ago and it still isnt fixed.Frustrating since this is the required format needed to supply TVC's to the TV stations, and the most common export function I would use from smoke - although its useless, still...
I am trying to access the edit original (edit with) option to edit a photo that has not been edited yet. I right click and go through the edit menu and does not appear or is not available? Would I have to reopen it manual in photoshop or is there a way around this to access that setting? it sometimes does not appear on my already edited photos.
I would prefer not to open each photo again, as some files i do not have and were imported into the document with another computer.
When I save my renders in 8-bit tiff formats, the images are slightly blurred. They do not look as crisp as in the render window.

View 29 Replies View RelatedI just started working with Photoshop and IR CS2 recently, migrating from PS 7. I am working on an image in photoshop and I want to jump to IR to add some rollover buttons. When I jump to IR and preview my work in IE or firefox, or view in the optimized view, it moves my images. It looks the way it should in normal view, but in the show optimized view things are moved. Why does it move the images? It seems in PS7 IR and PS worked more harmoniously. What has changed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was working on an image, and I wanted rollovers. I finished those up and went to save it [Save Optimized As...] and realized it was saving the images as .gif files. That's no good; it's a large image that looks terrible in .gif format.
I have been trying for quite some time now to get it to save as a 100% Quality, 0 Blur .jpg, I know I've done it before, and now it isn't working. As far as I can get is 60% [High; I want Maximum].
i have a pretty noob question, how do u make button rollovers for a website through photoshop/imageready? once my layouts are sliced, how is it possible to make rollovers? do i have to use dreamweaver? (i.e.- navigation text underlined when mouse is over it..) something basic as to that.
