Photoshop :: Blank Layers From Imported AVI Video?
May 2, 2012
I'm trying to upload an AVI file to make a GIF, but whenever I go to File-Import-Video Frames to Layers all of my layers are blank. When I tried to play the click in QuickTime it told me to download an extension or something. I downloaded Xvid, but still it's not working.
We have imported a .dwg file from our engineer into CorelDraw 5 under Windows Vista (64-bit). The file appears to import all elements since the layers and objects all appear in the 'Object Manager' docker. We can also select ALL objects and a rectangular marquee or extent shows up on the screen, which is presumably the bounding box for the imported drawing. Unfortunately, there is nothing displayed there (no topo, no streets, no buildings, not anything). We even tried selecting all objects and changing the color to black, but there are so many elements it appears the system will never stop processing or is locked up.
Why our imported .DWG file appears to be there, but displays nothing?
There was a small dot on our screen near the side of the page, just a small spec on the monitor. When we selected the dot and resized it to a full page, there was our complete drawing. However, we do not know why the drawing was imported as just a spec, nor why we had a larger edit marquee that appeared as wide as the page, yet appeared blank.
Some of my imported photos are showing blank in preview mode before I import, reading Preveiw unavailable for this file. Does this mean when I import they wont be imported.
I'm using Lightroom 4..i've been importing my RAW images from my external harddrive. Some show up in the catalog as ruined with a blank white section and color bands. I've checked the actual image on the external hard drive and it is fine. I've deleted the ruined files from the LR catalog, then re-imported those problem ones... still come in as white with banding. I've even tried deleting them from the catalog, then from the hard drive... then back onto the HD from the camera, then back into lightroom. Some look ok until I look at then in loupe view and the same problem happens. Mean while the images on the HD and on the camera's CF card are fine.
Trying to finish up first video project shot with 5D MK11 in 1080p.
I had to convert all clips to smart objects it seems to adjust highlights.
I had rendered the project once to 1080P but forgot part of one clip and dragged it into PS.
It is the exact same size but is not positioned correctly and I lose part of the right edge.
I thought it would fix itself with rendering it to 1080P as the image and canvas size are identical and from the same shoot--but it didn't.I hit "fit in screen" or actual pixels but not sure that matters.
I have been using PSE 10 on this laptop for over a year, and PSE 7 for years. Today I opened a PSE file to carry on working on it, and the layers panel was blank, even though it has several layers. I opened a jpg and tried to create a new layer, and nothing shows up in the layers panel. I don't remember changing anything between last night and today. Is PSE corrupt?
I have started a new video project with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 in Photoshop CS6with a pixel aspect ratio set to square.. In the project I add a video to the timeline. The source video was created in QuickTime and exported at a 1920 x 1080 resolution MOV file. I have check both the source clip at the canvas siye and have confirmed that both are 1920 x 1080. However, when I import the video it takes up less than the entire frame. It appears that the video is being scaled down so that there is some white space to the right and below the video clip. See the image below.
In the past I have been able to import 1920x1080 video to a 1920x1080 project without a problem. I have 4 or 5 examples that have worked well.
I recently updated to CC from CS6 and am having issues when working with PSDs containing video layers, or are set up as frame animations: When attempting to Save As, the dialog will be completely blank except for the Save and Cancel buttons. If I press cancel, then return to Save As, CC then often crashes.
So far I am only having these issues if I have been working with video layers and then frame animations. Frame animations in particular seem to cause instability as I can often work with video layers all day without a problem. Then if I import video frames to layers, or open a PSD containing a frame animation, the Save As may not necessarily work.
Sometimes closing and restarting Photoshop will allow me to save again, but then sometimes a whole system reboot is required. It is only temporary though.
I am not running antivirus software or other apps aside from what starts at boot.
I am trying out video editing for the first time and I am trying out the VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate.
But each time I drag a MOV file from my Phone into the program it doesn't display the video. I can hear the Audio but the picture is blank. I have Re-installed Quicktime but I still get the same problem.
It doesn't matter what file I open, none of my layers show up any more. All I get is a white background. And if I hide every single layer you would think I'd see the checkboard background. Nope! Not even that appears. My colleague tried opening up my files on his copy of CS6 and the files work fine. I've checked and my version of Photoshop CC is up-to-date.
The files are Mpeg4..I just upgraded some PSE 11 catalogs to PSE 12 and all functions and tags imported fine. When I import video only into PSE12 organizer, it will not generate a thumbnail image. I imported the same files into the old catalog using PSE11 and the thumbnails will be created. I have even gone a step further and converted the PSE11 catalog after imports were made, and PSE12 will now have the thumbnails. Eventually PSE11 is going to have to be uninstalled.
why this would happen when I render my video out. sections of the screen simply don't render - as if they are masked. It only happens when rendering. Not while previewing in After Effects.
I just purchased Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 and I am having a problem. The video camera I use is a GoPro Hero that records in MPEG-4 and I have been using the 16:9, 1080 P, 30 frames per second mode. When I import a video to VideoStudio and try to play the clip, it is obscured by constant blotchy, snowy, large random pixelation for lack of a better word. In any case, you can hardly see the video. If I import a standard definition video taken with the same camera everything seems to be OK. The video displays perfectly on my computer if I just play it.
Every once in a while I print that has two side-by-side images on one piece of paper. My usual routine is to create a new document that is larger than the two images--say, 10x8 (horizontal) with a transparent background and the same resolution as the two images that I'll be placing on the canvas (say, two 4x3's). Then I simply click on the image I want to move and drag it from its layers palette onto the blank background canvas, and move/edit/size as needed.
when I drag an image over to the blank canvas, it assumes the size of the entire canvas. so I just have the image... enlarged. With no background canvas. when I click on the new image (the one dragged to the canvas), all of the editing commands are grayed out. So I cannot resize or move it.I'm on CS5 (mac)
I have a PSD made in Phoshop. In this file I have layers named button which has a blue gradient color:
1. Created a round rectangle tool. 2. Under styles menu, I chose another style which I downloaded from the web (n ASL file).
The problem is that in GIMP I can't see the colors in the layers and only see the base style which is black and white. Wandering in the web I have downloaded the three scripts from [URL] ... into the plug-ins directory of GIMP, but still it looks like I can't import an ASL file into GIMP.
The weird thing is that opening the PSD in a simple picture viewer (Gwenview) I can see the colors perfectly but I obviously can't work with the layers.
You can see in the attached files a snapshot of the picture as supposed to be (orig.jpg) and as seen in Gimp (gimped.jpg)
I've recently reinstalled my mac (OS 10.8.5) and upgraded to Lightroom 5.2.
Since then, I cannot import nor play video (avi or mov).
When importing, I got an error related to a connexion to the Dynamic Link Server When playing videoa previously imported with Lightroom4, I got a grey screen and it doesn't start.
I have noticed many times that when I add the CIRCLE transition between two video clips that when I drag the 'scrubber' along through the two clips and transition, when the scrubber goes past/through the circle transition the preview window goes blank (displays black).
If I change the CIRCLE to any other transition it displays (the transition) correctly but as soon as I put the CIRCLE back it once again only shows BLACK.
If I PLAY the project the CIRCLE transition displays correctly - it is only when dragging the scrubber that the problem exists.
Is there a known problem with the CIRCLE transition?
if I export a sequence from the timeline and have it imported into the project it only imports the film but without any sound. With some codec I can play the clip as it should be in the windows 7 ultimate explorer but I sometimes also get automatically a HD-file and the sound files as way as a separate thing. I never had that before. In fact what I want to do is to create a sequence from my timeline and have that as a separate HD-file to use whereever in the project. Especially if the sound is not the original one but added by myself. I have done that before and I would just get my HD-file and could play it in the preview WITH sound. Now all I get is the picture but .... like I said: without sound. That is not normal. So is that a rather useless update or a failure in the program?
And how can I copy a sequence from a timeline and place it anywhere else on the timeline. Used to be so easy in a previous premiere version. Now copy and paste does not work at all anymore. And whenever I want to add a clip onto a layer, I have to shut all used layers, because otherwise the sound goes anywhere but where it should and might just place itself within another sound-layer.Used to be all much better and simpler in previous editions.
I just bought VideoStudio Pro x6 from Amazon last night and got to tinkering around with it. I have a MP4 video that I imported in and half way through previewing it, the audio drops. The original plays all the audio fine, but VideoStudio just can't get past a certain point with the audio.
I copied this from my system info. Not sure what's needed:
I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (6.1 Build 7601) Processor i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz Memory: 6144MB RAM DirextX 11
I imported an AAF from Premiere Pro and the media came in separately from the video. So I have a video clip and a separate audio clip instead of the two together. Is this because I chose "Save Sources Separately"?
Audio sync problem I'm experiencing with videos recorded with the latest iPad 3 (well, that's what I'm calling it anyway).
I believe the iPad 3 recording format is 1080/30p with 44.1Khz / 16 bit audio, but when I match those settings on a Premiere Pro CS5.5 project (or try 48KHz audio as a test), the audio gradually goes out of sync. If the video is several minutes long, it becomes quite obvious, and by 10 minutes, it's terrible!
I should add the file plays back fine on the iPad itself and was imported to a Mac via iTunes. It also plays fine on the Mac itself in Quicktime.
On a related note, I additionally captured the audio using a Zoom H2n which i intended to replace in Premiere, but foolishly I captured it at 48KHz, rather than the 44.1KHz of the iPad video file. Should I resample it?
I actually managed to line-up the 48 and 44.1KHz waveforms from the iPad and Zoom in Premiere quite accurately, but again both gradually go out of sync with the video...
LR 4.6 shows wrong Date (1988-02-07) and time after importing. Explorer shows the exact date and time of craeting the file. File type is MOV, camera Leica M (240).
is it possible to bring in a PDF and keep the layers intact?
I have received some artwork with a cutter guide on and with over 1,700 entities all on the same layer, some of which are the same colour as the cutter guide.
It would be a royal pain trying to select the cutter guide line by line!
Video files from an iPhone 4S (5.1.1) are transferred onto my Mac (this story is true under 10.7.4 and under 10.8) via PhotoSync. In Finder, the files reflect the correct creation date. On importing the files to Aperture, the correct capture time and date is shown in the metadata. On importing the files to Lightroom 4.1, however, the capture time shows as plus-five hours from when actually shot. I can't think of any setting I might have tripped in Lr to cause this to happen on import (I understand how to manually change the capture time).
Somewhere along the line, someone in our office made our template import points into separate layers based on the RAW Description. I would like to un-do this. So far, I have deleted every point style & point label style except for 'Basic'. Inside of 'Basic', the layer is 'V-NODE'. However, some of my points are still coming in on layers like: 'V-Site-'(Raw Desc).
I'm about to start from scratch on the template, however, I'd like to avoid that because of the array of styles that are in it.
I have a requirement to convert .MOV files to PSD layers. I'm using CS4 Extended, and it's an urgent requirement, the objective of which is to provide animated backgrounds in a game for a mobile phone.
