I have been using PSE 10 on this laptop for over a year, and PSE 7 for years. Today I opened a PSE file to carry on working on it, and the layers panel was blank, even though it has several layers. I opened a jpg and tried to create a new layer, and nothing shows up in the layers panel. I don't remember changing anything between last night and today. Is PSE corrupt?

For some odd reason i can only set up 3 layers on the layers panel. Can you set up 8 or more layers(that become visible) on layers display. My lasso tool seems to be working normally now. etc.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhow to import new images into the layers panel. If I hit "create new layer" all I get is a blank layer. What I want to do is import an image from which I will cut out part of it and layer it onto another image. For example: lets's say I want to put an image of myself in front of a tree. I want to take the image of myself from one picture and layer it onto the picture which has the tree on it. How do I get both of those images into the same layers panel? I can get the picture of myself into the layers panel as layer #1, then I can cut myself out of the picture. My problem is, when I try to import the picture with the tree on it, it opens itself up in a new tab. If I try to hit "create new layer", only a blank layer apprears above my first layer. I have tried to drag the new image onto the layers panel, but it won't attach. All of the tutorials I have been able to find/watch, already have all of the images they are working with pre-loaded into the layers panel. I just need to know how to get my images into the panel, so that I can start to work with them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedStarted working with PSE and when I tried to "stamp" a brush shape (whether default brushes or otherwise), the program does something it had never done before....SEE ATTACHED. I will create a new layer to use my brush, but when I try to "stamp" it onto background, the program then creates a layer mask where I can see the brush shape AND a new layer, however ALL that shows up on the background is the icon you can see in my screen grab I am attaching here. What is this icon? (The teeny one middle right of image, black square, outlined in red, with two red circles in the middle) I called Apple, we did a few things, they said it wasn't on there end. I reset my tools, I uninstalled, reinstalled, to no avail. Again, I've reset all tools, the "eye" icon on layers panel shows it should be visible, I've tried layers-->merge visible, I've uninstalled and reinstalled.....

The font increases, but the text boxes don't expand to fit the increased size text. So I am having to make each box bigger manually. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering why some fonts arent visible in my character viewer. I am using Illustrator Version15.0.2 on a MacBook Pro running 10.9.1. I have included 2 screen shots below for a visual reference.
Additionally, I'd like to understand how the fonts in the character viewer menu are organized. I know they are alphabetical, but what are the grey divider lines representing?
Can I deactivate non-english language fonts so that this menu is less conjested with fonts I never use? I've used Illustrator for years. Which fonts are actually non-english. As a side note, I use Font Explorer X Pro to manage my fonts.
I've recently moved to CS6. My object styles panel is blank.
THe panel is there with no info inside it. When i open the same job on another machine with the same specs as mine, the artwork is fine and i can see my object styles. WHen I open old artwork that has object styles set, I cannot see them, but again are fine on another machine.
Is there a way to collapse all layers in the layers panel with one click?

And if I hide every single layer you would think I'd see the checkboard background. Nope! Not even that appears. My colleague tried opening up my files on his copy of CS6 and the files work fine. I've checked and my version of Photoshop CC is up-to-date.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery once in a while I print that has two side-by-side images on one piece of paper. My usual routine is to create a new document that is larger than the two images--say, 10x8 (horizontal) with a transparent background and the same resolution as the two images that I'll be placing on the canvas (say, two 4x3's). Then I simply click on the image I want to move and drag it from its layers palette onto the blank background canvas, and move/edit/size as needed.
when I drag an image over to the blank canvas, it assumes the size of the entire canvas. so I just have the image... enlarged. With no background canvas. when I click on the new image (the one dragged to the canvas), all of the editing commands are grayed out. So I cannot resize or move it.I'm on CS5 (mac)
give me the correct commands to use on a mac to merge all underlying layers to one layer at the top of the layers panel list. I know it in a mac but not on a mac as I just recently switched over.

Both the Layers Panel and Adjustment Panel are in Expanded format when I Minimize CS4 to the Taskbar.
I then maximize CS4 and the Layers Panel does not show any layers. I have to double-click the Layers tab to reveal my layers. Never had this with CS3.
I am new to PS CS5, when I create any vector shape using pen tool or rectangular tool etc the shape does not appear in my layers panel.
Is this normal behavior? If it is, how do i reselect a shape after I've made it?
I noticed my layers panel became closed every time I start Photoshop cs6. I tried to create new workspace with open panel but that's had no effect, panel is closed after the restart of Photoshop.

how to select items on the canvas, aside for selecting each individual layer on the layers panel. have Mac os X 10.7.4, and I previously had cs5.5 on my laptop.
I was able to use the direct select tool to select mulitple items by either dragging it would select anything in the box or using shift to select multiple items. Do I have to click on every item in the layer panel to select it on the canvas? Is there a option that I have checked when it should be unchecked?
I find that the color fill vector mask previews within the layers panel are not as useful as they were in CS5. Having the vector path along side the color swatch worked better.

View 14 Replies View Related I'm having an issue with the Layers panel, which is docked to my Comp panel, freezing my system whenever I try to click into any other panel. I can open a project, click on a layer to do some painting and then if I try to go back to the Comp panel...it freezes. My only solution is to open the Task Manager and shut down AE. If I save everything before I try to get out of the Layers panel then I am okay but that getting old fast.
I'm working on an hp Z420 Workstation. This system is entirely new as of December 2013 and there haven't been any major issues but this has popped up and it's getting in the way of production.
I have quit the program and restarted it. I have restarted the Mac and the problem is still there. None of my other program windows are stuck, just Elements.
It is too far to the left and it won't move over.
Started suddenly, no issues previously. Installed on an iMac running 10.5.8. Blank welcome screen and nothing else. Tried reinstalling... nothing is working.
