Photoshop :: Turning A Photo Into Smooth Lineart For Cell Shading
Oct 23, 2007
trying to get a good smooth lineart output from Photoshop. As a picture says a thousand words let me explain.
Original Image
Now befunky is an online image app that creates cell shaded images for you, but at low res. It outputs a line art sketch like this.
Befunky Output
The closest I can get in Photoshop using a combination of Smart Blur and Gaussian Blur is this.
Current
As you can see I'm not quite getting the smooth lines that Befunky seems to draw.

I've had to reinstall Max 2012 & PU3, and it's started turning on Vertex Channel Display on my skin while I'm editing vert weights (editing envelopes doesn't do it).
Edit: I've realised it's because I'm in Nitrous mode - I previously stuck to DX mode which may explain why I never had this issue before.

I would like the viewport shading to remain on the "smooth" visual style. The problem is, after I configure it max will switch back to "smooth + highlights".

how i would remove a background from a picture, and turning it white, leaving only the person in the foreground unchanged. I can think of some pretty simple ways, but im looking for a way that makes a seamless transition from the orginal person in the picture to the white background without any jagged lines.

I'm new to this board and would like to know the question about how to make a photo that is reduced to besmooth and sharpen, actually sort of digital filter effect like imagemagick can do. I need that for resizing adult images and made them to be attractive not rough.
actually I have bulk actions when I'm doing this procedure and only do these things: reduce image from example around 900x600 to 180x120 and then I just do filter - sharpen - sharpen. It's nothing special comparing to this photo

I've been using Photoshop CS5 for years now and never had any trouble with my lineart. I use an Intuos 4 tablet. This is what my lines used to look like last time I used Photoshop. Always on a 1 px round brush with the following settings:
Now, all of a sudden, my lineart looks pixelated. I am using the exact same settings and even tried updating my drivers, it has not been fixed. It's causing me insane amounts of stress since this is what I do for a living and the decrease in lineart quality is really taking a hit on my work. This is what they look like now..

how do you take a photograph and make it into artwork you can use on a t-shirt design? I guess I'm saying so that it looks like a drawing rather than a photo. currently I'm using PSPX2.

I need to silkscreen an image, but can only do one solid color at a time. I'll have a black t-shirt, so that's one color, then red, green, pink and silver to screen onto the shirt. I can only do a max of 4 colors on one background.
here's the image: [URL] ........
How to break this down into 5 cells of color in GIMP? Then I can silkscreen it.

I want to modify a photo of an embroidered patch of my club's logo to make the texture appear simply smooth, not embroidered. Unfortunately, we have lost the original artwork that was used to make the embroidered patch, but we have nice sharp photos of the patch itself. The photos are in both GIF and JPEG format.
I found Ofnuts' reply about how to [undefined=undefined]add texture, but I want to do opposite.
Is there a way to do that? And is it possible to "de-texturize" the entire patch, or would it be necessary to do each color separately?

I'd love to color linearts with GIMP. But I have few problems. Actually only one. First my problem was that I was only allowed to use black/grey colors (so gotta change the photo as a RGB mode). Now I have new problem. You see, I've made few layers (layers for background, lineart, colors..) but when I'm trying to color the lineart (and I'm "in color layer") any of that color isn't showing?
I made the color layer as transparent. I don't know is the "lineart layer" transparent, but haven't seen a button where I could change its mode.

Is there any hint that GimP brush can behave like this: (for digital lineart purpose)
At the left I manually draw the line by using GimP, and at the right is MyPaint ramon/delayed ink/brush, but the problem is this ramon/delayed brush in MyPaint (for me) is too responsive.
I know Photoshop brush could do like this, but I don't use PhotoShop again after using GimP and never look back. =)
I have both GimPainter and Gimp 2.8 . I've try the Ink tool on both GimP, but it isn't what I wanted... I want Gimp Brush to behave like this.
I could paint this [URL]......using GimPainter, but I am suck at making digital lineart... (+_-)

i can find no way of doing this short of taking the pen tool and connecting all the points to get an overall shape.this gets even harder because a lot of the desks have round parts on their outline.

Is there a way to change the color of a line without losing any of its sharpness/quality? I'm working on a black lineart image originally drawn with a tablet and the ink tool, which gave me really crisp, bold lines. Changing the color using any of the selection and fill tools results in a pretty strong downgrade in quality around the edges, which I would like to avoid. (Seriously, it's looking like I drew it in MSPaint at this point.) ? Or should I have planned out colors from the start?

I am trying to learn is how to give the images of my artwork (paintings) an edge, as if it is a 3d canvas, and a shading to the edges, or just a shading. Also, I would like the corners a little rounded, but not a lot.
I have other needs, but I will have to learn to use the program for these, especially editing the colors, since an accurate photo of an original painting is seldom acheived, especially in terms of colors. If there is a very simple guide you can recommend I'll be happy to try it.
how to use the program for the basic purposes I mentioned (edges, corners, shading)

I want to wrap a logo around a baseball. All I need is the logo to be rendered in 3D, and I will use the Multiply blending mode to use the shading that's already on the baseball. How do I turn off all shading effects in the 3D interface so no additional shading is applied to the sphere the logo is being wrapped around?

It's been awhile since I've posted. Still been doing graphics work, but not had enough time to really push myself and grow in a way that required a community. I posted this on another forum with no response, I'm hoping perhaps I'll get a bit more out of the place where I started out.

I'm completely new to Photoshop (only started yesterday), but I've been playing with it and it's fun. My problem is that I've tried creating a picture, but the clouds I made don't exactly look much like clouds.
What I did to make them was to render clouds, then adjust levels to create cloud shapes, and transformed perspective. Then I set it to 25% opacity against a red/orange background. However, as you can see, there are no shadows on the clouds, and it looks kind of bad in general.
My question is: how would I go about shading the clouds? And if the clouds are extremely bad, how would I go about making more believable ones?
Also, is there anything else about my picture that I can/should improve?
