GIMP :: How To Make Textured Surface In Photo Look Smooth

Nov 15, 2012

I want to modify a photo of an embroidered patch of my club's logo to make the texture appear simply smooth, not embroidered. Unfortunately, we have lost the original artwork that was used to make the embroidered patch, but we have nice sharp photos of the patch itself. The photos are in both GIF and JPEG format.

I found Ofnuts' reply about how to [undefined=undefined]add texture, but I want to do opposite.

Is there a way to do that? And is it possible to "de-texturize" the entire patch, or would it be necessary to do each color separately?

Paint.NET :: How To Make Textured Surface

I want to modify a photo of an embroidered patch of my club's logo to make the texture appear simply smooth, not embroidered. Unfortunately, we have lost the original artwork that was used to make the embroidered patch, but we have nice sharp photos of the patch itself. The photos are in both GIF and JPEG format.

I've found info on how to add texture, but I want to do opposite -- smooth out the texture of the embroidered patch, so I can use it as a logo in print (in a newsletter, stationery, etc.) and on the web and in e-mails.

Is there a way to "de-texturize" an object in a photo? And is it possible to de-texturize the entire patch, or would it be necessary to do each color separately?

Photoshop :: Turning Textured Portrait Into Non-textured Photograph

Mar 10, 2012

I have spent the last 2 days trying to take a portrait taken between 1950 and 1970 and printed on "Kodak extra life" photo paper made to resemble a canvas painting. I took several photos of this portrait using a Canon 60D EOS. Unfortunately, the portrait looks like it was literally printed on flattened bubble wrap. The Gausian blur can't do enough. Even when combined with ALL of the noise filters AND the sharpen, unsharpen masks. Curves and levels, hues and saturations, radius, inverting, working the image in RAW...

I have tried all available forms posted on the web and I have even tried a few other things just to see what would happen. Gimp with fft failed right along with other programs claiming to be able to do this task. I spent the entire night recoloring pixels in an attempt to get this portrait to lose the bubble wrap and not be so blurred you could go cross eyed looking at it. Unfortunately, when you zoom in on the pixels you can see what could be random brush marks in the "Kodak extra life" paper printed portrait. I am stumped with this one and the web does not have a lot of info regarding this type of image.

The portrait belongs to a friend whose mom died. As they were going through her things they found this photo of her when she was younger than they can recall her being. It is the only one they found. It is stained and color faded, no problem to fix that part of it... I am not sure it can be transformed from "bubble wrap" but I will keep trying until something can change it. I have ADOBE Photoshop CS5 running on windows 7.

3ds Max :: Lighting Facets On Smooth Surface?

Feb 28, 2012

basically the issue is the lighting relics (little triangles) inside the sphere that is in the middle of the scene at this frame. I've masked off the rest of the frame as this is a current job so I'm not sure if I can post it fully. The animation basically shows a closed sphere which animates towards the camera and opens to reveal whatever is inside, which then animates, hence the use of the Sky Portal, to brighten up the inside of the sphere once it's so close.

The sphere was originally a sphere created in Max with pretty high settings, smooth modifier added and since then it's been converted to an Editable Poly for reasons I can't remember (I'm 300 hours into this project). I'm not in a position to mess with the geometry now unless it's absolutely necessary.

I've been trying to set up the Final Gather and GI to get a nice smooth surface, I don't usually use GI at all, just FG which may be an issue in itself, my research this morning suggested I should turn on GI... but anyway - here's the scene:

Using Mental Ray

One Daylight system, one Sky Portal at point of camera, facing the sphere, no other lights

Render Frame Dialog settings:

Image Precision = Medium (min 1/4 max 4)
Soft Shadows = 1x Default
Glossy Reflections = 1x Default
Glossy Refractions Precision = 0.75x -Medium
Final Gather Precision = High
Max. Reflections = 4
Max Refractions = 6
Geometry Reuse Off
FG Reuse Off
Production (not Draft)

I've attached an image showing the Render Setup Dialog settings.

GIMP :: How To Make Photo Colors Print Correctly

Feb 5, 2011

I'm a new user of GIMP 2.6.11 for OSX, and I can't figure out how to make photo colors print correctly. My printer is an Epson 2200, driver version 8.37. When I print one of my old photos from Mac Preview, colors come out the same as they did when I used this printer from Photoshop 6 on my old Windows PC. When I print the same image from GIMP on the Mac (using the Print command, not Gutenprint, and selecting photo quality and specifying the right paper, etc), the colors are too far off for a simple CY, MAG, Y level adjustment to get back to what I expect. Under image properties GIMP says the color profile of the image is sRGB IEC61966-2.1, and the image appears the same on my monitor in GIMP as it does in Preview. But it appears GIMP may be using a different color profile for printing than for display. is that possible, and if so, how can I change it?

Photoshop :: Photo Smooth And Sharpen Effect?

I'm new to this board and would like to know the question about how to make a photo that is reduced to besmooth and sharpen, actually sort of digital filter effect like imagemagick can do. I need that for resizing adult images and made them to be attractive not rough.

actually I have bulk actions when I'm doing this procedure and only do these things: reduce image from example around 900x600 to 180x120 and then I just do filter - sharpen - sharpen. It's nothing special comparing to this photo

Photoshop :: How Do I Make A Smooth Curve? (PS7)

Nov 20, 2003

I'm making a stylized picture composed wholly of curved lines. I free-handed the curves with my pointer tablet, and then I've been going in with the paintbrush thickening the lines and smoothing edges and whatnot (my tablet makes exceedingly wiggly lines for some reason)... It takes FOREVER going in and trying to make a perfectly smooth line using a 3px brush... (The original image is 3000 x 3450. Great learning experience, but my eyes feel like they're about to fall out of my skull after tracing, re-tracing, and re-re-tracing a 30-pixel area for an hour, lol.) I'm convinced that with the amazing images that come out of Photoshop, they must have a tool that makes creating curves a simple, easy process.

3ds Max Animation :: How To Make The Edge Of Water Smooth With No Flickering

Oct 20, 2012

In this animation attached, please see the water and land interface on the left side of the green land object. Notice when the land object moves to the left, the blue water kind of ripples and flickers at the edge. Do you know what is happening and how to resolve this? How can I make the edge of the water smooth with no flickering?

The land is a a box with a good number of subdivisions with a displacement map making the height of the land. It is the animated displacement map and textures that make the land look like its moving over to the left. There are no bump maps. The water is just a long flat box with many subD's

I have tried increaing the subD's in both water and land objects , but nothing. The animated displacement map should not be producing such jitteriness like this. The grey scale image for the map is very smooth with soft gradients. I rendered with MR, 1/16 sampling, jitteriness checked,
