View 7 RepliesIn the image below I have an aerial photo of an Island. I need to make it so as water areas are black and land areas are white (not greyscale) almost like a silhouette. My first plan was to draw round the island with a black paint brush and then use the "bucket fill" with a suitable threshold to fill all of the areas up to the black outline with black, however this doesn't work as the bucket fill either breaks through the black line or when I reduce the threshold, doesn't color the water areas solidly.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if you can do this but if any of you have seen the Itunes Color Effects app, I'm wondering if there is a way to keep color in one part of a photo while making the rest B&W? I know how to make it B&W & I can't get it to work with the paint bucket or anything like that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an image where i chopped seperate parts of different pictures, desaturated all 4, but on the one, there seems to be more "grays" in the black and white photo... i want the grays to be more black. Messing with the brightness and contrast isnt doing it...

View 4 Replies View RelatedWith a RGB or CYMK no problem for me to have certain element in the picture distinguishing from the rest. But now I have to do the same building up in duotone (2 PMS colours). It looks like Photoshop doesn't allow to put a black&white layer into a duotone document (it automatically turns into the 2 duotone colours).
So how can i make a duotone image (source = FC) in which a part looks "black and white" (1 colour=black) and a part "lights up" in the second colour (2 colour= yellow)?
- so I know how to make a duotone image, that's not the problem
- i know how to work with layers and masks
(i try to upload the image.. but server seems very busy...)
Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to make a photo black and white with abit of colour like the one attached... on CS4?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a photo where branches above the main image intrude too much.
i would like to move them up to the top of the picture.
So far the only way I have found to move them leaves me with a white space that I need to fill in.Is there any other way to do it.
What I am trying to do is change a photo of a bright red abd dark black car to a white car.
In all cases what I seem to be running into is the fact that the programs use the existing colour as the start point and allow only so much variation from that colour (ie about 180 +/- in each primary colour) which does not get me to where |I need to be.
I also tried creating a new layer and filling it with the desired colour then changing the layer from normal to hue. The result ends up being a mix of the original colour and the new colour so for instance if I want a yellow over a blue original colour I end up with some variation of green.
I need to clean a dirty part of a photo in order to make the whole base look as if i painted it, is that possible with xara xtreme ?
Photo is attached.
I am a beginner. I am looking at different progams to see which one suits me better and easy to work with. So far adobe isn't easy at all. Is there a way to take a black and white photo and make one thing in the photo in color? I have elements 11.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make my image fade to black on one side. I have read the blend tool tutorial in the user manual but all I can get to hap pen is a black and white gradient completely covering my image. I have tried adding a transparent layer over the image and applying the gradient to it but for some reason when one side of the image (using the linear mode) starts to get darker, the other side gets lighter, creating a severely distorted contrast with the image, plus the fade covers an entire half of the image.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did put a real photo in the background of my website to fit entire page. So the text of my webpage is black, and sometimes other colors. So what happen is that some times the text is hard to read when it come on top of dark places of the photo (for example hear of people). So i want to adapt the photo to make it more unicolor, more whiten (increase whiteness) so the black text will appear even better.
What tools and filters in gimp that give me this ability to do that ?
I am currently trying to combine a color photo frame with a black and white image, but every time I open the frame in "open as layers" the frame turns to black and white as well as the photo. I have no problem when using color photos. Is there a way that I can do this so that my photo frame remains it's original color with the black and white photo inside.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a texture for a model in a video game, and I want some of it to be transparent. This is done by editing a text file that tells the model to use the textures alpha channel. things in the alpha channel that are white are transparent and things that are black aren't.
But I don't really know how to edit the textures alpha. Here is a video I've seen that explains how to make one in photoshop: [URL]......
How to do exactly what he does in gimp? whenever i duplicate one of the rgb layers, it isn't black and white like it is in ps. i'm also not sure how to have it turn into the alpha.
I've got some drawings that I've made in Inkscape and I would like to make them look more like they were drawn by hand. I know I found a tutorial for doing it some time ago, but obviously I didn't save the link. And when I try searching I only find how to make a sketch into vector or a photo into a sketch, and that's not what I'm looking for.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to modify a photo of an embroidered patch of my club's logo to make the texture appear simply smooth, not embroidered. Unfortunately, we have lost the original artwork that was used to make the embroidered patch, but we have nice sharp photos of the patch itself. The photos are in both GIF and JPEG format.
I found Ofnuts' reply about how to [undefined=undefined]add texture, but I want to do opposite.
Is there a way to do that? And is it possible to "de-texturize" the entire patch, or would it be necessary to do each color separately?
I'm a new user of GIMP 2.6.11 for OSX, and I can't figure out how to make photo colors print correctly. My printer is an Epson 2200, driver version 8.37. When I print one of my old photos from Mac Preview, colors come out the same as they did when I used this printer from Photoshop 6 on my old Windows PC. When I print the same image from GIMP on the Mac (using the Print command, not Gutenprint, and selecting photo quality and specifying the right paper, etc), the colors are too far off for a simple CY, MAG, Y level adjustment to get back to what I expect. Under image properties GIMP says the color profile of the image is sRGB IEC61966-2.1, and the image appears the same on my monitor in GIMP as it does in Preview. But it appears GIMP may be using a different color profile for printing than for display. is that possible, and if so, how can I change it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a part that has protrusions. When i mate that part up to another part that second part needs to have cutouts/holes to receive those protrusions.
i mainly use it in sheetmetal parts. and use the rectangular protrusions on de contour to mate up with corresponding cutouts in the other sheet. this works with positioning and also makes for a nice weld spot/area.
But also for making holes to accommodate a mold pin used in custom punch dies. I want the intervening part to receive a corresponding (propperly tolleranced) hole automatically. Much like a bolted connection does.
same for parts like circlips. i want them to automatically generate the seat in the part it's mated to. Rather than using the axle generator.
Ofcourse one can place the parts and do an in assembly interpart projection and go from there, but i want the part to generate the (predifined) modification to the other part. It would save time and also reduces problems as the parts are moved about or even removed.
I'm modeling a temperature gauge and would like to have glass over the gauge so the inside is visible. I can easily do this with an assembly, but I'm wanting to do this with a single part. I tried to derive a new part from the assembly, but the transparent part turns solid so nothing inside is visible. Is it possible to do this?
I've include pictures of what I want and what I end up with.
Inventor Professional 2013
Intel Xeon W3680 @ 3.33Ghz
12GB DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA Quadro 2000 GPU
Windows 7 Professinal 64-bit
I have created the part based on piece of standard angle taken from library. Now I want to make a mirrored copy of this part by Component-Mirror.
Inventor does not let me do it with standard part.
The question is: How I can transform a standard part to normal one, I mean I could get rid of belonging to standard part? Making a copy does not work. The only way is to derive and mirror this part but I wish there could be easy way.
I haven't found a way to turn a color photo into a Black & White outline drawing in Corel PhotoPaint X5.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have been working on a large number of sketches. At this stage I am just using the path tool to make the outlines of my cartoons.
I have got fairly confident with the path tool now, however on my first 3 pictures my paths were a mess. The first 3 pictures I stroked the path at 10 pixels, I would like to reduce this to 6 pixels. I am not able to go back to the original paths so I guess I need to select lines from the completed pictures and and convert these to paths, then restroke.
I have been trying to select by colour (it is all black) but that gives me the outline of the black, ie, a double path. I have tried selecting the back ground and expanding it by 2 pixels, this worked but not in tight corners.
