Photoshop :: How To Select Items On Canvas - Aside For Selecting Each Individual On Layers Panel
Aug 27, 2012 how to select items on the canvas, aside for selecting each individual layer on the layers panel. have Mac os X 10.7.4, and I previously had cs5.5 on my laptop.
I was able to use the direct select tool to select mulitple items by either dragging it would select anything in the box or using shift to select multiple items. Do I have to click on every item in the layer panel to select it on the canvas? Is there a option that I have checked when it should be unchecked?
AutoCad :: Selecting Second Items Causes First To Deselect
Jul 13, 2012I am currently running into the problem where i will select 1 item by simply clicking on it, and when i go to select a second item, the first is then deselected. I can click and drag and select multiple items that way, but that doesn't work when the items and on different sides of the drawing and there are other lines and what not in between them.
I am also aware that i can hold shift and select the second item, and all is fine, but that is not my desired operation. I have been working with Autocad for almost a year under the notion that i can just select multiple items by clicking on them all individually and would love to have this operation reinstated, primarily for ease and convenience, which increases productivity.

Jul 17, 2012Since upgrading to AutoCAD Architecture 2013 I've noticed that the sequence in which I type my commands no long works. I used to be able to highlight various items and then type in the command I want to apply to these items - i.e. Mirror, Erase, Scale, etc. But now with 2013 I will select the items, then type in the command, and the it asks me to again select the items I wish to apply the command to. What settings I need to change in order to fix this?

Dec 20, 2013My AutoCAD Map 2014 still allows me to select objects and then type the command to, for example, delete the items. I was able to do it in my Civil3d but it seems something was toggled so that I'm no longer able to. Now if I select items, once I select a command, it essentially unselects the objects or doesn't recognize that they are selected.

Sep 21, 2012Recently I have started having this annoying problem where I select something and it shows it is selected by the grip but in reality it hasn't selected it as can be seen in the properties box.
Cancelling the selection with the ESC key doesn't work
regen doesnt' work
regenall doesn't work
audit doesn't find anything
Qsave does work but I would prefer not to use it due to sharing drawing xrefs with others means that they constantly have to keep reloading the xrefs
Have tried reinstalling autocad but that doesn't make it work.
Currently have a NVIDIA Quadrow 3500 which is probably not the correct one.

Jul 23, 2007I use Photoshop 6.0.1 on XP Home, SP 2.
I have been unsuccessfully trying to create a transparent gif, which is composed of an image, one word on the left side of the image, one word (some font/color) on the right side of the image, and a group of 3 words in a blank area of the image. I created a new file in CorelDraw, exported it as a jpg, opened it in Photoshop, selected the Magic Wand tool, selected the entire file, then hit "delete", but the gray/white checkered background did not appear, although the flickering lines were around all parts of the image/file.

Just look at the background, I dont want to make a seperate JPG minus login input, so that will do for now.
Anyways, I've been wanting to convert it to a more firey look, and this is what I've got for the internals.

How to make a flame effect on the same scale as the lightning, without deteriorating from the rest of the image. I've tried very hard and very soft liquifies, I've tried wind effects to no avail, I've turned the orb from rectangular to polar and back again more times than I choose to count. But the end result is that the flames just dont look real or cool at all.
how I can smooth out the flames and make it look better?
I want high density, realistic flames, and I've tried Panopticum Fire and other things... it just never looks right though.

Jun 17, 2004I'm trying to simplify the creation of several preview thumbs from one image. For example, my base image is a 400x600px image, and from this image I need to create the following thumbs:
1: 90x120px
2: 120x90px
3: 100x100px
4: ...
(Please look at the image i attached)
I need an Action that would Crop the base image and save a copy of each of these thumbs. I can't fugure out how to do this since I need to adjust the Marquee selection for each thumb to Crop the part of the base image I want.

Jun 18, 2013I got Photoshop to make the background transparent on pictures of furniture. I am having problems because the background is so complicated. I've only tried selecting different parts of the background with the quick selection tool, and then deleting (after adding another layer), but I'm not getting good results.
I see others talking about the lasso, magnetic lasso, layers, masking, etc, but I don't know where to start. I need to learn quickly because I'm on a deadline, Here's one of the pictures I need to do: (one of the most complicated) All I need to keep is the table and four chairs in the foreground.

Mar 23, 2009I am simply using this image as practice ( since I already have a goal image made by someone else ) The Origin Image is the original image, the goal is the image I am trying to reach near, or identical too in terms of color scheme. The Current Modified image is my modifications done to the "Origin" image to look like the "Goal" image.
Okay a few problems and I'm kind of stumped... is there any kind of wacky photoshop trick to get the ears and tails to match the goal image, without actually redoing shading and losing the image quality?
The colors of the ears and tail on the origin image are reversed on the goal image.
Did I do well on modifying her bathing suit?

¯¯¯V¯¯¯¯¯¯V¯¯¯¯¯¯V¯¯¯¯¯¯V¯¯¯¯¯¯V¯¯¯ and another one like this ¯¯V¯¯ ¯¯V¯¯ ¯¯V¯¯ ¯¯V¯¯ ¯¯V¯¯ (where the Vs link up with the line).
I have tried to do this through the lin file and have failed. The lines don't meet up, the gaps aren't in the right place and the line does not run along the top but in the middle: I have fiddles around with it but it complicated and long to do. I have also investigated creating these lines using express tools but it seems that this tool is not an option in AutoCAD LT 2010.

Apr 17, 2013I am hoping to link text items between pages and items in the drawing such as elevations?
So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?

Nov 20, 2013I have never really figured out how to properly build an illustrator file in a way that it will fill properly so my only other option (that I know of) is to use Live Paint. Unfortinately Live paint also wrecks all my line weights. It also makes the object noneditable later down the road. I found this out the hard way for a logo project at college and spent over 30 hours on it just trying to fiddle with the illustrator program, looking up tutorials that never seemed to work for me and nonstop frustration.
This time Live paint doesn't work at all. (I'm trying to paint in a more complicated object than a simple logo). First off my object has gaps in it, and even when I click "Gap options" it doesn't appear to do anything and there are still gaps. So I try to fill them in myself but this wrecks my line weights. And finally Live paint appears to work but only on certain objects such as the eyes, the nose, annd the ears, yet it refuses to fill in the entire body of the animal I'm trying to colour in. I drew this animal in illustrator with the pen tool and applied line weights with the line weight tool. Yes there are numerous gaps in the image.

Sep 25, 2008I am having a problem with a delay in selecting an object and selecting a command.
When I select an object the pointer has at least a 3 second delay before it starts moving around normally again. It is the same with selecting a command. This has started to get tedious. It has worked fine in the past so I don't think it is a RAM/graphics card problem.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Mouse Selecting / Not Selecting?
May 15, 2012OK, today, or actually just this afternoon I've noticed it has become much harder to select items with the mouse.
Points, nodes, etc...anything where you'd typically hover the mouse over the item and it highlights for you to select it.
For example, lets say you want to project a point from another sketch, or select the center node of a line, etc.
Never really had an issue until this afternoon where now it seems I have to be right on top of the item and I cannot budge one bit or it won't select it. It is now taking me numerous attempts to select things like points (zooming in does not work, points scale accordingly).
Is there a setting somewhere? I can't seem to find such under Tools>Application Options and the like.
Photoshop :: CS4 For Mac / How To Show All Menu Items
May 15, 2013I am using CS4 for Mac. My tools and window panels were missing on the side. I placed them back in but noticed something odd happened under the Image tab in the menu bar. Normally I can select from the color modes under Image to change RGB photos to CMYK. For some reason, the CMYK mode is now missing unless I manually select SHOW ALL MENU ITEMS at the bottom of Image - Mode tab. How do I fix it so that all the color modes appear when I go to Mode under the Image tab? This happens every time now when I open a new file. It doesn't seem to save when I quit out of the program. I couldn't find it in Photoshop preferences.

May 11, 2012I'm getting all of my menus corrupted after using CS6 for a couple of hours. See below.

This is happening for all of my windows (Navigator, preferences, etc.) I have to close the program and re-open to fix.
Running Windows7 64-bit. 12 GB RAM with an ATI FirePro V8700 card with 1 GB on it as well. I have all of the latest drivers for the card (installed yesterday). This should be blazingly fast, and it's chugging along like my CS3 used to with 4 GB RAM. Are these issues with speed and the corruption of the menu items related?

Jun 8, 2012it did not do this at first and I can still drag items directly onto my canvas as smart objects but when I drag photos from LR into my PS thumbnail at the bottom, they appear so tiny, I can't even make them out. Clicking crtl/0 does not enlarge them, I have to press ctrl/+ several times to make them larger.

Nov 7, 2013In Photoshop (Mac OS X), I typically use the pattern type cmd+shift+/ to open the help menu, type the phrase of the menu item I want to use, and then hit enter to activate the selected menu item.
I just checked Photoshop CC and the enter key does not seem to correctly behave as it should. Instead of activating the selected menu item, it just dismisses the help menu.
Is there a way to force the enter key to behave correctly, as it does in other apps?

Nov 16, 2008resetting itself to factory defaults. Now I notice it has taken to hiding a lot of my menu items and I have to click 'Show all menu items' every time I open a menu. Most frustrating. Sep 19, 2013I have just started using photoshop to develop some designs that are meant to be printed on fabric. And then sewn into dresses..While I know how to change the size and scale of the image and canvas. I can not tell how big or small the objects or different elements in the pattern will be when printed out. For example if I want to have a certain part of the pattern appear on the shoulder of a dress and another on the hem, how do I ensure that they are printed at the right size and in the right place. I tried printing out one pattern on a meter of fabric and it turn out that it was too big and most of the design will be cut in the process of making the dress. I have no way to determine the dimensions. Is there a way where I can place a dress outline over an image to check it out or size the individual items inside?
