AutoCAD :: Can No Long Type In Command After Selecting Items
Jul 17, 2012
Since upgrading to AutoCAD Architecture 2013 I've noticed that the sequence in which I type my commands no long works. I used to be able to highlight various items and then type in the command I want to apply to these items - i.e. Mirror, Erase, Scale, etc. But now with 2013 I will select the items, then type in the command, and the it asks me to again select the items I wish to apply the command to. What settings I need to change in order to fix this?
My AutoCAD Map 2014 still allows me to select objects and then type the command to, for example, delete the items. I was able to do it in my Civil3d but it seems something was toggled so that I'm no longer able to. Now if I select items, once I select a command, it essentially unselects the objects or doesn't recognize that they are selected.
I am having a problem with a delay in selecting an object and selecting a command.
When I select an object the pointer has at least a 3 second delay before it starts moving around normally again. It is the same with selecting a command. This has started to get tedious. It has worked fine in the past so I don't think it is a RAM/graphics card problem.
I am currently running into the problem where i will select 1 item by simply clicking on it, and when i go to select a second item, the first is then deselected. I can click and drag and select multiple items that way, but that doesn't work when the items and on different sides of the drawing and there are other lines and what not in between them.
I am also aware that i can hold shift and select the second item, and all is fine, but that is not my desired operation. I have been working with Autocad for almost a year under the notion that i can just select multiple items by clicking on them all individually and would love to have this operation reinstated, primarily for ease and convenience, which increases productivity.
Recently I have started having this annoying problem where I select something and it shows it is selected by the grip but in reality it hasn't selected it as can be seen in the properties box.
Cancelling the selection with the ESC key doesn't work
regen doesnt' work
regenall doesn't work
audit doesn't find anything
Qsave does work but I would prefer not to use it due to sharing drawing xrefs with others means that they constantly have to keep reloading the xrefs
Have tried reinstalling autocad but that doesn't make it work.
Currently have a NVIDIA Quadrow 3500 which is probably not the correct one.
I noticed in Cassel's excellent Wishlist for X6 that she said:
Cassel wrote:since it is possible to have the text too long or otherwise extending outside the image, it is impossible to select the whole text to change the font or the size or the kerning.
I want to use BO command for vertically long and thin objects. When i zoom in and the object is not completely visible in the screen and i click inside the object , AutoCAD says , valid hatch boundary not found. Is there a way to join polylines of such objects using BO command. I have to eventually resort to Pedit command which is bit tedious to do.
Even with a simple IPT that only has a handfull of features, at times it takes a long time (3-5 minutes, sometimes longer) for Inventor to execute a undo or redo command.
Undo file size setting in Application options is set at 1MB (which is teh same setting I used in previous versions).
I was wondering if there exists a library for pipe network parts for items such as a standard type 1 catch basin that I can add to the existing autocad pipe network parts library. Basically I'm trying to find a shortcut so that I don't have to build all of the catch basins that I need.
I've used AutoCAD 2013 on other machines and have no had this issue.
When pasting to the command line there is a huge delay from when I hit CTRL-V until the actual text is displayed in the command line. It takes roughly 4.5 seconds for the following to display after pasting: Â (command "-view" "D" "*"). The time it takes is roughly the same and does not depend on the size of the lisp that I'm pasting.
The command bar is docked to the bottom and there is no transparancy enabled.I have tried setting AUTOCOMPLETEDELAY to 0 and 10 with no change.I have completely disabled all Auto-Complete options and it still happens.  There is also a significant delay between Auto-Complete populating the list of suggestions and when I am able to use the arrow keys to move the selection box down to pick a command.
how to select items on the canvas, aside for selecting each individual layer on the layers panel. have Mac os X 10.7.4, and I previously had cs5.5 on my laptop. Â I was able to use the direct select tool to select mulitple items by either dragging it would select anything in the box or using shift to select multiple items. Do I have to click on every item in the layer panel to select it on the canvas? Is there a option that I have checked when it should be unchecked?
Back in Acad2002 when I selected a command (line, for example) the crosshairs would lose the pickbox around them and I could precisely pick the area I want with no obstruction. I see in 2012, that following those same steps, leaves the pickbox around the crosshairs and thus makes it obtrusive to precisely pick exactly what I want. Is there a system variable to make that pickbox disappear while I am making my selection?
-PC based system running Windows Home Premium 64 bit8 GB ramLots of hdd spaceCS5.5 Master Suite -Epson Sylus Photo R1900  Operating system, CS5 suite and printer drivers all updated.  When attempting to print a photo, it can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes for the print dialog box to open up. It takes SO LONG that it appears that Photoshop has frozen, but it has not. The print dialog box opens eventually. This started about 2 months ago. I have looked at all preferences, assigned more RAM to Photoshop, uninstalled and reinstalled the entire suite, ran all updates, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer drivers - all to no avail.  I am at a loss as to why it would take SO LONG for the print dialog box to open after selecting print? I thought there may be a problem with the print spooler or print queue, but the slowness happens BEFORE the print back system is touched. The print queue is empty, and there is nothing stuck in there. I've checked.
Select one type layer, as you can see below, the character panel reflects the setting correctly: Â Select TWO type layers, with the exact same character attributes.. what happens?
It should say in the image above 36px/52px, not 12.16px (.16 px? Really?) and 17.56.I haven't the foggiest idea where that even comes from. Â But the result for all photoshop users is that they have to individually change all the layers individually..I was hoping character styles would work, i have yet to figure out how it even works, i've tried multiple times, it just doesn't do anything to the selected type.
I have a project related to connect autocad and visual studio(VB.Net). Example: I open my file autocad and then use command type call run visual studio.
Starting a few weeks ago Photoshop CS6 crashes every time when selecting the print command with the error : "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working" This happens using different printers and when printing anything, including a blank page. Printing works fine from other applications.
Running Photoshop CS6 v.13.1.2 x32 on Windows 7 Professional 64bit
This is a Dell Optiplex 990, I7 3.4GHz, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD system, AMD ATI RADEON HD 6350 PCIe Video Card on a 16x bus  1) Photoshop has been updated 2) OS has been updated 3) Video drivers have been updated with new ones from the manufacturer 4) I tried new drivers for our Kyocera TaskAlfa 3550ci 5) I tried new drivers for our Kyocera FS-3140MFP 6) I also tried removing all of the printers except "Adobe PDF" printer
Here is an example event from the Windows Application Log after photoshop crashed.
Does the command still exist to export a drawing to the 3DS file type? I remember doing it in 2007, but do not remember the command and can not find it in the help files.
I am hoping to link text items between pages and items in the drawing such as elevations?
So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title  (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)Â
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)Â
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?
The options window will not display when typing "options" in the command line or selecting from the drop down. The options menu has to be hidden somewhere because AutoCad will not allow any other commands after typing options until I hit escape. I have tried restarting CAD and rebooting my computer with not luck.
I'm trying to figure out how to move from a line of text in Type tool mode to the Marquee [or any other tool, for that matter] by using a key stroke instead of having to select the new tool in the Tools palette. Hitting "m" just adds an "m" to my line of type.
Illustrator CS4 Â I'm not exactly sure what happened, but suddenly my Type Tool can not select type by double clicking or click and drag any more. Â I'm using Illustrator CS4 (14.0.0) on a MacPro with OSX 10.6.8.
When I was taking AutoCAD at the County College, I remember our instructor saying that the calculator can be used to draw a line. For instance, If I drew a line at 120 in. and I needed to add 96" to that. There is a way to type in the command line to add the 96" to the 120".
OK, today, or actually just this afternoon I've noticed it has become much harder to select items with the mouse.
Points, nodes, etc...anything where you'd typically hover the mouse over the item and it highlights for you to select it.
For example, lets say you want to project a point from another sketch, or select the center node of a line, etc.
Never really had an issue until this afternoon where now it seems I have to be right on top of the item and I cannot budge one bit or it won't select it. It is now taking me numerous attempts to select things like points (zooming in does not work, points scale accordingly).
Is there a setting somewhere? I can't seem to find such under Tools>Application Options and the like.
AutoCad 2011. I am having no luck when trying to drag a command from the Command List pane to the Quick Access Toolbar. I have success draging to Tool Palettes
