Is there any technique?
What I want exactly is, starting from a big title, create a linear perspective with the vanishing point on the center of the horizon and the horizon line some cms above the title. Is there any faster way to do this without doing it by tracing the perspective lines in Freehand or Illustrator?
Any good technique for applying gradual, linear perspective to textures used to fill shapes? An example will make my question much clearer (the attached drawing, both in JPG and .XAR).
The top shape is a carpet (or something) with a bitmap fill applied. I want to draw it curled, as in the bottom shape--the texture doesn't follow the contour of the object (as expected, since this isn't a 3D modelling program).
But is there some way to simulate the gradual rotation and foreshortening of a texture, to make folds and curls in fabric look more realistic?
What's the difference between linear and bi-linear when using gradients? they seem to do the same thing to me (or I don't notice a difference)

I had a decent looking logo with an outline/gradient overlay/drop shadow on a light background but now someone is insisting that this site header be black so the drop shadows don't work quite as well... any suggestions for adding some depth to the text, or just a cool logo style in general for a black background?

When measuring the distance between points the distance is correct. However, when I click dimension and linear the text shows a smaller value. They should match.

Rather than flat white color text there seems to be elements of grey of differing shades giving some depth to the text and also what I presume is a drop shadow beneath.
This is probably easy as pie to do, but I'm new to GIMP and don't know the term for this technique.

The above is my attempt at wrapping the word "NEIGHBORHOOD" around the object. What I did was Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Mesh... and just approximated how it should look by using a combination of guides. There has got to be a better, more precise way of doing this in illustrator.
Looking at the AI file available here (in the Public folder of my Dropbox), why the text takes a gradient when I place it on a perspective grid? I'm not able to see anything in the Appearance panel that gives me a hint. It may be obvious to someone without even needing to open the file . . . see pictures attached.

View 8 Replies View Relatedwhen I try to stroke a path with the pen tool and select simulate pressure it will not work. I was using it last night and it worked just fine, and I can't seem to figure out why it isn't working.
It is only when I try to use the brush and simulate pressure that it doesn't work. I can do it with pencil and all that.
I dont have a tablet, so is there any way I can make strokes with my mouse that look like they were made with a pressure sensitive pen? (thinner edges, thicker middle)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to CS6 from Photoshop 7, which is a huge leap, I know. In PS7 I was able to vary my pen pressure simply by clicking the little box that said 'simulate pressure'. While CS6 has all the same steps, and even has the same little box, the simulate pressure doesn't work (I'm using the standard round brush).
I have gone to brush settings and activated shape dynamics, but that did absolutely nothing. I read a few other discussions that mentioned tablets. I don't have a tablet and don't really plan on getting one any time soon. I never needed one, and with my budget, I really can't afford one; hence why I jumped from PS7 to CS6, took a long time to save all the money.
I can use my simulate pressure option without getting a tablet.
I have two layers. One is completely red (r255,g0,b0). The other layer is completely green (r0,g255,b0).
How can I make it so that if I lower the opacity of the green layer (which is above the red layer), to 50% that the result is completely yellow (r255,g255,b0)?
I've tried all the blending options, none of them achieve this basic effect. The closest I got was something that looked like a darker orange.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to simulate water in a community game I am building. I need to create a good number of frames to test one method, but I don't know how to go about it. Since these would be height (bump) maps, color is really not necessary. Basically, I need to create frame by frame to simulate water. The game engine will actually paste them together to form the animation.
The problem is I just don't know how I can go about creating the ripples frame by frame. I'd probably like to try to make 50 frames or so. I know about the ripple filters, but how would I use them to create a series of frames?
In the ACR forum, there was a recent discussion about linear segments for the shadows. These are official for sRGB and ProPhotoRGB but are not part of the aRGB specification, but a slope of less than 32 is allowed in the shadows for raw converters and is used by ACR for all three of these spaces.
Does Photoshop currently implement a linear segment for these color spaces and does it make that much difference in practical photography?
I am having an issue when trying to simulate cloth. When I simulate the cloth, the dialog box with the simulation comes up and before it finishes simulating one frame it closes. At the bottom of 3ds Max, it says end solve.
It worked on an earlier version of the same file as I was able to simulate 100 frames.
I am running 3ds Max 2010 on Windows Vista.
Below is a picture of my command panel. Why the simulation box only stays open for half a second?

We are rendering raster passes in cg which need to be added together to reassemble a beauty render.The layer blending mode being used is linear dodge.There is a dramatic difference in the result in 32bit mode compared to 8bit mode.We normally work with adobergb1988 color workspace.
What is the math being used in 8bit mode with the adobergb colorspace?The problem is similar with sRGB profile.If set up a linear color workspace icc the 8bit mode behaves just like 32bit mode.However no one in our facility nor our clients wants to work with a custom linear icc profile.I would like to preprocess the layers while in 32bit mode to compensate for the gamma space processing of sRGB or adobeRGB color profiles in 8bit mode.Ive tried simply using a exposure node with gamma 2.2 but this is clearly not right.
