I'd like to replicate a text style in GIMP that I've seen on this web button:
Rather than flat white color text there seems to be elements of grey of differing shades giving some depth to the text and also what I presume is a drop shadow beneath.
This is probably easy as pie to do, but I'm new to GIMP and don't know the term for this technique.
I like this effect to give a page more dynamics. Yet, i understand how they do it but i can't replicate it. [URL]...how to do this clean and solid?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI previously used Gimp 2.6. When using the clone tool, I would press CTRL to set the source. When I would being painting with the clone, the source would move relative the mouse pointer location and I was able to make sure the gradients were correct.
With 2.8 it looks like the source stays put and I cannot clone see to get the gradients I am working with to clone right because I have to stay in line with the source. How to replicate the functionality of 2.6 with it?
I can't seem to find how the original creator made this effect and he isn't around anymore. As you can see, the horizontal lines make the image appear as a ribbon and I just can't get the same effect.

The effect appears to have the text washed out in parts as well as not horizontally aligned. The alignment part isn't that critical however . the washed out look is what I'm looking for.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm want to add depth to my image. I've attached an image with the effect I'm looking for. Basically, it just makes the shape pop out just a little. I see they've did a fade around the edges, so I'm wondering what the easiest way to do this is. I achieved the same type of effect using the blend tool, fading the edges to black, but it's rather tedious and didn't look as good.

I changed the background of a picture and I am satisfied so far, except for the end of the hall. The transition form where the hall ends and the green stuff I pasted begins. The edge is to hard or something. I don't know how to explain it but it is obvious that there can be made some progress there. How to make those edges more natural?

I have 60-something 24 bit PNG images that I've edited in Gimp, many of them include transparency. I want to batch convert them to 256 colors while keeping the transparency. Can this be done? I did try it in another editor and any attempt to keep the alpha channel transparency resulted in totally washed out colors and transparency where none should exist. Conversely, if I skipped the transparency the color depth reduction went well.

What I want exactly is, starting from a big title, create a linear perspective with the vanishing point on the center of the horizon and the horizon line some cms above the title. Is there any faster way to do this without doing it by tracing the perspective lines in Freehand or Illustrator?
I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for adding depth to some logo text on a black background? I had a decent looking logo with an outline/gradient overlay/drop shadow on a light background but now someone is insisting that this site header be black so the drop shadows don't work quite as well... any suggestions for adding some depth to the text, or just a cool logo style in general for a black background?

I like using the edit label text in the lable styles to add additional text and information.
I can turn on / off the backroung mask for all the style but not each.
Is there a way to turn on / off the backround mask of each layout text.Â
I'm using civil 3d 2012 and testing 2013.
I have inside every text,Mtext contents different text style like Arial_1 , Arial_2.
How i can give all the contents inside one style ? the normal procedure i will enter inside text to enter editing mode and changing text format style one by one. I Â want it once.
I want to save my routing of entering every text to change its content text style.
(Notice:select all from outside without editing mode will not do the job)
I wonder if it is possible to create a new text style where one can set the text to be already rotated.
I know that it is possible to rotate text in many ways but the styles always seem to be set on the horizontal to begin with.

Is there a easy way to change a style of previous drawn text in AutoCAD 2008. Years ago I though there was a lisp routine by Autodesk for that.
View 5 Replies View Relatedback in 2.6 the width of the outlines of the several selection tools wassimply 1px (running ants by themselfes), now with 2.8 (at least herewith OpenSuSE 12.2, XFCE 4.10 it is 3px (pls. see attachment (8 time se larged)).
Is there any possibility known (style setting for gtk, ...) to change it(back) to 1px? It would work make much more precise ..
When I have multiple files open, the tabs at the top look like this:
These are roughly twice as large as I'd like them. I've been able to customize virtually everything else (which is awesome!), but I can't seem to find a way to change the tab style here...
So, is there a way to do this, replace the previews with file names, or something like that?
I scanned a photo I have of an Elvis impersonator and made this image, but I need to have the image at 300 dpi instead of the 72 dpi that I originally saved. So, I rescanned the image at the desired resolution and size, but I can't seem to remember how I got it to look like this.

That is to say, it doesn't change the color of stuff in the background, but it does invert whether it's light or dark. I've added an example to this post, the top text is selected and the bottom is not. I like the way the top selection looks and frequently would like to be able to do exactly this, and apply it to whole images. What's happening when you select text, is there a specific name for this effect, and how can I replicate it?

The following code fails when it gets to the line where I try to set the text style (this is done using VB.NET 4.0 and AutoCAD 2012 64-bit).

i switched gimp 2.6 to 2.8 and new text tool behaves strangely, as i remember in gimp 2.6 when i try to change text content with selecting old text and pasting new text i could use same text size and same font with my old text without doing anything but now in the gim 2.8 whenever i try to change content of a text layer i need to choose again font and text size from toolbox options, but why do i have to do this, i have a text placed on my image with a certain font and certain font size and i just want to alter my text conten not the size of text or font , it changes automatically to back text size and font whatever i used last time in another work.
summary: i want to change my text content without setting my font and font size properties, i want to use my text layers old properties
